| Nope, because I haven't.
Show some kind of progress....of course. And if GH was an issue, don't you think we would have found out about 3 years ago? Don't you think that we'd have scrapped the plans and submitted planning for Hicksons if that was the case?
Sounds like some of you are desperately clinging to anything you can.

There's a distribution centre or something like that at the top of the existing road (that will be extended to the new stadium site) and I think there may be some offices too. Look on Google Maps.

| Quote ="youngcat"I don't know abour Opus, supermarkets etc. I do know that Castleford terminated the Ben Bailey agreement some weeks ago, and that the land would be worth a lot more to a specialised supermarket developer. That is 100% fact. Ben Baileys did not walk away, they were told to go away. This is from one deflated BB employee. He said he couldn't blame them as it was good business for Castleford, but it was a blow.
Why waste time on them anyway. Good luck in fact. We have to concentrate getting our own house in order, which i now have more faith in.'"
Surely if BB payed a retainer that runs to the end of the year they have a legal right to have first refusal on the ground, otherwise why do it? Cas can't just tell them to go away. The only way to do it is that cas would have to buy them out of the agreement, something that BB would have to agree to. Whether Cas would have a spare 200K lying around to do this is questionable.

Lets clear this up. I don't know the contents of THIS deal, but typically option deals are structured like this.
BB homes pay an options fee on Wheldon Road. They basically agree a future price on the land (rumour is £6m) and put down a 'deposit payment' if you like. Now the thing is the seller (Cas) has agreed a future maximum price on the land, so this means the seller can't charge the buyer more than the agreed price (£6m). However, BB don't have to pay Cas the full amount agreed, they are still allowed to pay what the land is worth at the time of agreed final purchase. Now of course, prior to recent times, this worked well for developers and sellers alike, because the land usually rose in value meaning BB would have been happy to pay £6m because the land rose to say £7m during the option period but also the seller got some up front money and also was able to plan because he knew he was getting £6m.
The rumour is BB, quite rightly, made a revised offer (which they are fully entitled to do) which of course now is under the agreed option value! So rumour is £3m to £4m. Equally, Cas don't have to accept BB offer... they don't have to sell anything. So basically BB and Cas have parted company, possibly with Cas knowing that better things could be on the horizon. The options fee may and may not be returnable as part of the deal, so Cas have either given BB it's deposit back and BB have walked away and lost it.
That is that!

I honestly couldn't care less how much money you have. What does bother me is that it seems to me that your esteemed chief executive is once again leading everyone up the garden path with big press releases that will amount to nothing. Lets be honest he hasn't got a great track record when it comes to backing up his comments has he? I wouldn't believe him if he told me today was friday and I fear this could be another of his white elephants.

Don't let it, it's no business of ours at all. Lets just concentrate on our here and now.
This is what i hate about franchises, i cant remember the last decent thread about a game/player/team we have had on here, its all crap about who's got what planning permission and whos building (or not) what first.
Bring Back P & R, smelly badly lit toilets and decent rugby, where one fan can have some banter with another without it turning into whos got the bickest dick (or who may have the biggest dick soon, possibly!!!!) competition.
Out of interest Mrs KC says i need not enter any such competition as it is pointless!

Wakefield council have some kind of headquarters there, then you have NPS adjacent to it, across the road 13 blocks of offices (Fleming court), next to that an overflow car park, then a DHL distribution centre, next door to that is Dalziel foods then further up the road is a huge unit housing TEVA. I'm not one for believeing what RW says, but to suggest the area is unstable is ridiculous.

Probably. Box has managed transfer control of the district from the City of Wakefield out to his camp.

| Cas have been sorting out their ground for five years. It will will another five years before a development like this comes to fruition, the red tape involved is horrendous. And i think the figures quoted are way too high. The RFL will not look favourably on this development thats for sure. They hated the Richardson clan but trust me Richard Wright isn't held in much higher esteem at Redhall. Wakey may not be in superleague next year but this has put Cas in jeopardy also.

| It's maybe more likely to send us both down than keep us up, but the RFL may look at the future, not the here and now, and say that although Cas look better in 2011, there is every prospect that Wakey will look better in 2013, and it is a 3 year franchise.
My default position is that if Cas raise the money themselves and build the ground, good luck to them, because it is more than we have done. But is it just pre-franchise hot air? The crucial thing will be what questions the RFL ask.

Odd that because as far as I'm aware they quite liked Ted and perhaps gave him more leeway than they should have.

| It would take a MAJOR position shift at Redhall for Wakefield to be granted a licence. You never know because they do tend to move the goalposts more often than they change their underwear but I can't see it. The best chance would be a hugely increased TV deal and a 16 team league but as it stands at least one team will be going and our financial past and now a lack of superleague quality stadium kills us.

| Richard Wright, 22nd July 2009:
"The economic slow down has meant our plans have slowed from what we promised in our licence application," Wright told BBC Radio Leeds.
Wright added: "We are having at least three meetings a week on the stadium and it is our priority."
Shall we go back a bit further in time? Yes, why not. Let's try 3rd February 2006:
Castleford chief executive Richard Wright said: "We've been working on our new stadium project for some time. We still have a great deal of work to do to turn the dreams into reality but all parties involved are committed to making it happen."
I look forward to the 2014 version.
