Im not just talking about the 2 stadia.
Im talking about the fact Both Cas and Wakey have been at this for a very long time and yet compramises (sp) couldn't be found.

Of course it could. But at least we have a fighting chance this way. We are committed to our aims and the people that are in charge are confident the stadium can delivered along with our Super League future.

Had we moved to Glasshoughton we would of been well and truly shafted, no doubt about it!

Did anyone think of perhaps binning both ideas and building at or around junction 31 if that was possible or something like that before you both got so entrenched with your own stadia?

Newmarket is a compromise, it's equal distance for both teams. Glasshoughton would of been a compromise for us only.

When you can compromise with your 'friends' at FC I would suggest you come back and inform us how we can do the same.

Its not just possible mate , its what will happen, both clubs will be dumped into the championship because the RFL arent as gullible as both sets of fans (but at least both clubs will retain their identity ), looking forward to it, playing in an honest league without the worry that the RFL dont want because you dont have soft toilet paper or a pre pack atmosphere free stadium that you cant fill.

Makes for a 3 way local derby scenario as it used to be................................................................................................... bring it on

With the greatest of respect if our very survival hanged on us playing at the KC or get binned out of SL and possibly never seeing us back in the top flight i'm pretty sure we would make a unpopular decision.

Our situation is slightly different. A move to GH would have killed the club within 18 months. That is suicide not compromise !

I have to disagree, Newmarket is in Wakey therefore it is suitable only for Wakey as is GH for Cas . Its no comromise unless both teams move away from their towns, anyway thats all academic now

good luck to both clubs not just in the stadia but in conning the Superleague to let them stay another 3 years, but as said before I am fed up of that bent organisation and the honesty of the championship may be a breath of fresh air

You think us moving to the west of Hull would not cause us similar problems?
From here it looks like a straight decision by both clubs.
That being either work together or kiss SL goodbye.
If that happens it will be a shame IMHO.

Availability of land is an issue. If we could go back five years, land around Normanton would probably have been a decent compromise, but back then we were getting the big thumbs up from the council for Thornes Park and Cas had their own project. There was no banking collapse and everything was rosy. Now that time has moved on, there is no opportunity to look afresh for neutral land. It's a different scenario for you, as the KC Stadium is already built. Imagine if FC were still at the Boulevard and you were both told to share a ground in Hull. How long would it take to find land that would be available and suitable, with all the planning considerations, that would suit both sets of fans?

The Newmarket/Stanley site is half way between, I agree it does favor Wakey slightly because of the fact that it's carries a Wakefield address. It's far enough from either teams population base to be as neutral as can be. Glasshoughton is right on the doorstep of Castleford's population base. As a result you would not of lost one fan and probably gain a few more. We would lost the majority of our support and not gained any new ( except a few more away fans). Of course you know all this but refuse to see it because your that blinkered!

I wouldn't say that I would say '2 boards who won't/can't see the bigger picture'.
No disrespect intended but after the failure of both yours and Cas's first attempts to get 2 grounds why the hell did nobody get you to both sit around a bloody table and bang your heads together?

The first pretty much explains the latter. Yes, both clubs could have opted to go in together, but at this stage, that would have meant one becoming a Johnny-come-lately in the other's project, on their territory. Club management and fans on both sides both saw that as leading to a near certain death of whichever club took such a move.

So, whilst there clearly was self-interest at heart, it was justifiable. It is hard not to come to the conclusion that the actions of the council, in trying to bring it to a head, were at best ill-thought out and ill-timed, and at worst malicious. They suggested a scenario that wasn't really the true picture (finance wasn't really our issue) and created a negative media portrayal of the actions of those involved. The more ill-informed tosh that was spouted (Peter Roe's drivel on BBC Leeds on Sunday was a case in point of someone who should know a little better, not least because someone sees fit to actually pay him for his opinions), the more outsiders saw it 'from here' as the two clubs cutting of their noses to spite their faces.

Looking at this as an outsider, well a Fev fan anyway, you kind of touch upon something which has had me thinking for a while. What happens if you both overcome whatever obstacles remain and have the stadium constructions under way and then one or both still doesn't get a new licence? Afterall unless there is a significant change of plan from Redhall/SLE(always possible!) its almost inevitable that at least 1 existing SL team will lose its place regardless of which new stadiums are or aren't built. Will either or both stadiums be viable outside of SL?

I wouldn't trust Mr Wright its taken them 5 years they have been further than us, it still doesn't mention the funding. I agree Slugger we need to kick on with newmarket now don't give the RFL any excuses.

Glad all this hollyhocks has been put to bed and both clubs can finally move on. Back to square 1, everybody has been upset/disappointed at some point over the past week and for what?

The council were going to take away the one chance of safeguarding both our clubs' futures and I'm glad common sense has finally prevailed.

Hopefully he's for a brighter future and Wakefield and Castleford can both enjoy new stadia in the near future.

Cas are already shafted now Wakey have said they wont go to GH, The only question is will Mr Box prevaricate long enough for it to be too late for us to get Newmarket built in time for the 2012 season and by doing so shaft us.

Would that decision be based on the fact that whether it be east or west Hull it is in fact in the city of Hull, and also the KC is the property of Hull Council and not privately owned by your neighbours and biggest rivals. If only it was so simple

You clearly know bugger all about RL in Hull if you belive that.
And as for it being owned by the City council well seeing as we would be going there long after it had been built I fail to see how we would be classed as anything other than a bend over and take it situation.

But with all that said if it meant we stayed in SL and didn't die I could see us making the necesary if unpopular decision.

But do you think you would survive if you played out of the KC? Would you get decent crowds? And if you had already given up your East Hull base and were playing out of the old FC ground, would you fear that you would be the victim of a merger that would end up being called Hull and playing in black and white.

Those are the dilemmas. I suspect your club might choose to move, but I don't reckon your fans would follow.

To your first questioin no as any merger would be on a level playing field to a degree as we would both still be superleague clubs such as you and Cas are.
As for the other point you maybe correct but I doubt it tbh infact I can see some that would come back if we are in the KC.
