| Quote ="The Avenger"What if Wakefield bought 51% of The Tetleys Stadium and invested in some improvements to make it a 10,000 capacity ground that was for all intents and purposes ours.
How would folks feel about that?'"
If the club had the cash to do that I'd rather save the money and looked at somewhere in Wakefield to lay down roots.
Whilst I support Trinity, I do so because they're from Wakefield, otherwise why would I bother supporting a failing club when just 9 miles away we have the Leeds Rhinos. The comparison with Leeds United is a misnomer, there is no comparable alternative for peoples to support who are based in Wakefield.
Dewsbury for a short term of one or two years I could live with and I think he club could survive, long term I have my doubt. I suppose another way to look at it would be whether a Sunderland fan would be happy to go watch his team (if the SOL had just be taken away from them) play at Newcastle, Gateshead or Hartlepool for an unspecified length of time without any assurances they would return.

| Me and my dad would certainly go and watch trinity at dewsbury, and would still buy our season tickets.we feel the main benefit would be to get away from wmdc and Peter box and there hostility towards the club.

I'm the opposite.
If we had a proper stake in the place (especially if it were 51%) and a 10,000 capacity, then it puts us exactly where we want to be.
Dewsbury is equally accessible as Newmarket would have been (unless you live in Stanley) and it's already used to having match day traffic etc and with
a more willing partner (in Kirklees Council) maybe we could start building the club again.
It's quite interesting that some Towns & Cities value their sporting organisations and are happy to work with them and help them and yet Mr Box & Co dont give a damn, in fact, they seem positively unhelpful.
I still remember the comment from Mr Box when Sandal spoke to him during a phone in on Radio Leeds.
The utter contempt that he had for Newmarket still annoys me when we talk about new grounds.
IF the council had wanted Newmarket to happen, no doubt the big white box wouldn't have been allowed on adjacent land etc and things could have started to move forward.
As it is, we are, once again, in limbo.
I'll take anywhere (apart from Cas) although, I would admit that we should be in Wakefield. However, it appears that we are not wanted ??

| Just one other thing folks I'll chuck in a couple of scenarios. Build the best stadium in RL place it in the precinct and put in it a team who play every week like they did at Widnes this week.
Then put a team together who are truly competitive and play like winning means everything and put them at Dewsbury.
I know which team I would support.
If MC takes the plunge he must be ruthless with a clearout and canny with recruitment . Get a good team on the pitch and Dewsbury will work

| Don't get it. If we moved to Dewsbury, even permanently, we could still be called Wakefield Trinity so what's the problem. I know we're not quite the Man United of the rugby league world but, unless I'm mistaken, Old Trafford is in Stretford not Manchester and United seem to be reasonably successful!!!

| This has dragged on and on its become a total and utter farce in the 10 years plus this has dragged on Featherstone Rovers have developed a decent stadium Batley to their credit have developed The Mount STS Wire Widnes Leigh Halifax HKR etc have developed or built new stadiums
Trinity and Castleford continue to point the finger and blame everybody but their selves for the lack of progress
I am all too aware that some people of this forum have worked their butts off to ensure Trinity get a stadium but its not going to happen unless 1 a merger with Cas cant happen 2/ move into Post Office Road cant happen 3 move to Dewsbury too small would need development on two sides 4 move the whole club lock stock and barrel to Barnsley great stadium huge potential can no longer blame Peter Box
Blunt but that’s how I see it. I would love to see the club playing in Wakefield in a redeveloped or new stadium but I do not see it in my lifetime.

| Let's give up ownership of our stadium to a rival who has ambitions of becoming the dominant force in the local area. Sounds like a good plan.

| How would people think about Dewsbury if the club put on free "sponsored" buses from Wakey bus station for the first two seasons? Would that soften the blow? Or is Dewsbury a no no?

For most Owl Lane is easier to get to than Belle Vue but suppose buses from City centre might help a few fans out.

The ownership of our stadium was given up quite a few years ago by Richardson.
The club thought all their birthdays had come at once when Newmarket was brought to the table, unfortunately they were royally stitched up by a shyster developer & a Council without the will to intervene, for whatever reason.
What I find really amusing is when supporters of other clubs, Widnes, Leigh, Huddersfield, Wigan & probably Cas in the near future go on about B.V. yet all the facilities were gifted to them, you'd think the supporters had invested their hard earned to hear them talk, they just got lucky.
If the leader of Wakefield Council wasn't a Cas fan, I wonder if the whole outcome would have been different.
After endless threads on here it has been suggested many time that taking the Council to court would be an option, albeit an expensive one, it would probably be cheaper to hire a hit man (JOKE)
Frankly I'm tired of the whole fiasco, the rhetoric, the secrecy & the downright outlandish suggestions.

I'd guess it was in relation to the suggestion that for some reason Dewsbury would give up ownership of their ground to us.

I was looking at the proposition of a Trinity 51% stake in Owl Lane from a Dewsbury point of view.

The more that happens and the deeper you dig, this whole affair begins to have similarities to the Doncaster Council scandal. Dony council were arrogant back then and thought they were untouchable. Box and co are showing the same arrogance
I really hope that somehow we get funds together and take this lot to court and go straight for their throats. I am hoping one day they will get what is coming to them.

The issue with taking the council to court is 1.) its expensive and I doubt WTWRLFC have the funds to do it, and 2.) if we do do it, the cost of fighting the case will also be expensive for WMDC and will need to divert funds from elsewhere to fund the fight, once the other 98% of the WMDC population who don't give a flying rats backside about Wakefield Trinity see that their services are being cut to fund a fight over a stadia for a sports team, any public sympathy is likely to disappear petty quickly.
