| Quote ="Trojan Horse"Because ‘Covid’.
To be fair you can’t request a service or make a phone call without somebody blaming Covid for delays. It’s become a national excuse for a large number of businesses and organisations. You even have automated calls stating there may be delays due to Covid before your connected to a person. In some cases it may affect the operations of a business but in others it’s become an excuse to hide behind poor service imo ofcourse.
That said I hope we get some positive news on the stadium developments over the coming months!'"
True but in this case where it is a committee decision perhaps you can. Whether that's the only reason I couldn't say.

| Might be old news but in the 'Horbury and South Ossett' newsheet there is some info surrounding the new stadium/re-development. One comment is: "£125,000 transferred out of the Trust's bank accounts over five days. But nobody really knows what for." Another comment is: "What did we get for our cash and why does nobody have a copy of the drawings (apparently it was to pay for drawings of the new stadium). In fact nobody reports ever having seen any such drawings, including people who sat on the trust, many of whom are as mystified as the rest of us"
Apologies if it's old news. Mods please delete if it is.

One, who would know that money has been transferred m?
What trust are we on about?
all the plans are on the WNDC site and have been there for month. Anyone with half a brain can see them. Over 50 docs available for public inspection. Most people on here have seen the as I assume have the 2000 people who supported the application.
Really sure what you are asking about?

No need to resort to insult.,(your default position) I'm fully aware of the application on the planning portal and have indeed commented in support. within days of it appearing.
The article quoted refers to the Trust headed by Rodney Walker and the Newmarket development. There are three articles in the paper surrounding the proposed stadium at Newmarket and the re-development at Belle Vue,
Having tried to follow the ins and outs of the stadium situation over the years I had never seen anything about money transferred out of the Trusts bank account to a company called Wakefield Developments, a company that is now wound up and no longer exists. Some people may have, hence my asking Mods to delete if it was 'old news'.

What LG has just posted is correct. I have here a copy of the newsletter sent out by the local Conservatives party. There is a photo copy of the Trust “Current Account “ along with other mischief material against Trinity and the Stadium. I wish i knew how to transfer these images onto here.
John Minards mentioned this in the March Q&A, apparently the club are aware of who the muck raker is, and the club solicitor is aware.

This was quoted in a copy of a conservative publication posted through my letterbox in Durkar last week, so it's not old in that respect. It certainly does question where 125k went!
Also states that the developers at Newmarket (Sorry I binned it so I don't know who they are referring to) want to actually build the stadium as opposed to just funding it and questioned just what kind of stadium we would get!
It was a politically motivated document slamming the local labour councils handling of the whole stadium fiasco and I binned it because I'm sick of reading it!

Sorry you asked which trust the account was. The photo shows “Wakefield and District Community Trust, first date of withdrawal 31st March 2010. Then a number of withdrawals up to 21st June 2010. With a total withdrawal of £134,949, from a total deposit of £141,500.and a closing balance of £6,551. Doesn’t show what happened to the balance.

I’m not saying LG is wrong think he’s got the wrong end of the stick, it’s the comments on the sheet that appear ludicrous.
As I say how do these people have access to the accounts?
Secondly the plans have been on show for weeks.
Scandalous in my opinion.
Politics really does attract some trashy people.
Finally I’m not sure which trust they mean. I didn’t know there was a trust specifically geared for the stadium build that had any cash in it as yet.

Ahh I see those are from 2010, that’s still Ted era and nothing to do with the current developments or the current company that owns the club. I have no idea what it was for or where it went but it’s ancient history. Not sure what they are trying to prove.
Unless those dates are wrong. Didn’t even think there was a Trust in 2010.

The trust was formed in 2009, it’s the one that was supposed to take charge of the Newmarket build with Trinity as anchor tenants. Ted formed it with Rodders and Dave Hinchliffe i think. The others, TRB & co. came later.
At a guess the point they are now trying to make is that the current plans mean money from the developments due at Newmarket now will go towards tidying up a facility owned by a private company whilst the stadium land becomes warehousing. So i imagine the angle is what’s happened to the community money raised? (if it was, no idea before anyone jumps down my throat). Seems like blatant politicking to me.

Ahh that makes sense.
My main issue is that the current Trinity is nothing to do with the old company that was wound up I believe. So it’s extremely unfair and misleading.
It’s not just blatant politicking it’s pointless, almost an own goal.
I’m not sure what mileage they think they will get. The apathy Trinity face with the general public works both ways. When people see the date and the name Trinity they will think blimey that was ages ago and are they still going as a club.
Just idiotic.

Well, all this was 12 years ago, so apart from Newmarket, what about Thornes park, that land near Peacock Estate, was Durkar also mentioned?
Regarding the money, I’ll show you what this chap wrote.
A few days later this money was transferred out of the Trust bank account to a company called Wakefield Developments Ltd, which was apparently to pay for the design of the new stadium.
All well and good you may think, but for £125,000. There really ought to be some extremely detailed and specific drawings of a stadium in existence. Curiously, nobody has ever seen them.
The Trust doesn’t have them and neither do the council.Neither is there an invoice to cover the money paid out, as far as we can tell.
Like the community trust, Wakefield Developments has now been wound up and no longer exists, but not before the Council repaid the loan to the Co Op bank, with your money.
What did we get for our cash and why does nobody have a copy of the drawings? In fact, nobody reports having ever seen any such drawings, including people who sat on the Trust, many of whom are as mystified as the rest of us.
I’m not sure if you were on the trust at this time Vasty, but does it make any sense to you now, having read some of this prospective conservative Candidate, and muck raker.

So, that's the Yorkcourt guys then!!
Certainly Colin Mackie and Curtis Jones are, and I believe the other Jones listed is Curtis's dad.
God knows where the £134k originally came from but it's pretty obvious (and not at all surprising) who it went to.

That is unbelievable Snowy, how is it possible that a company building on Wakefield ratepayers land, qualifies for local taxpayers money, for stadium design, that the company had agreed to build said stadium, in exchange for being given the land.
I’ve got a headache coming on.

Because it’s not fraud. What it is, is immoral. But unlike you or I these people don’t acknowledge the latter and are to smart to get caught doing the former.
I’m not a developer or in local government but I suspect all Councils have some budget they can use to support local developments. The key word is ‘development,. Truth is most potential developments fail at planning and the money spent at that point is written off. For example how many sets of plans do you suppose the council have paid for to re-develop Kirkgate or other zones? A fair few I suspect most of which never got off the drawing board.
I’m only guessing but I suspect it works on those lines.
The only possible fraud is whether those plans and prep work for NM were worth that amount of money? Maybe who knows but it’s not the level of cash that would push the fraud squad into action I’m afraid.
The Tories know this, it’s a dead end from a dead end that died years ago. Of all the monies wasted by WMDC over the years they pick on this one. Somebody is pulling strings here.
Shameful political nonsense.

I, like many others on here, had suspicions of wrongdoing many times during the Newmarket fiasco, and this political swipe has simply added fuel to a very old fire.
To answer your point Snowie, for the police to investigate, a complaint has to be made to them . I often wandered why WMDC remained virtually silent in the whole affair? Surely they would have been the ones to complain if public funds were missing, and unaccounted for?
A police investigation may well have shown a genuine reason for the funds being withdrawn, but as it was public money there should surely have been an audit trail as to where it went and why?
Anyway it's political muckraking from the past, and hopefully better times ahead for us as we move on.

You're probably right Vasty in that it may NOT be fruad but as an ex cop I investigated, as a mere member of CID alleged frauds of a higher amount than this, without bothering the Commercial Branch (fraud squad)
Some fraud was uncovered and some monies were NOT subject of fraud but the investigation at least cleared up what had happened to, what was also public money.
Anyway your last line sums it up perfectly
