Makes very interesting reading, thats a long time to have planning permission and not do anything with it.

| Everything in that statement from Wright can be ignored apart from the very important part of:-
"The substantial and far reaching boost to the local community is wholly dependent on securing planning permission for a retail scheme at Wheldon Road in the first instance.
"A new stadium for Castleford Tigers at Glasshoughton which will secure the future of the club in Super League and provide our supporters with a new home to be proud of, is just one of many advantages that planning approval at Wheldon Road will facilitate."
Nothing without planning and as we know planning takes time for a scheme like that.
With statements like that he's going down the route of 'its not my fault its the planning people that have cost Cas.' when Wheldon Road doesn't pass planning.
Thats something we tried 5 years ago with Thornes Park so really Cas are 5 years behind us now!!!!!

But if we started a thread about Richard Wrights apparent retort to Andrew Glovers most important meeting you'd shut it and tell us to go to the Cas board!

And my views not changing on either subject, posters have a right to be able to log in and read/post this thread about "the most important meeting" they may or may not want to read about RW and Cas and out of respect for them nothing changes.
I understand that Cas threads are locked on this board but thats how we choose to operate this board.
So that leaves the VT and in this case the Cas board.

In order to release the land equity funding from WMDC then the stadium has to have a community element to it, although at the moment there does not appear to be any details on what the community element will be.

It is not just an opinion, it is there in black & white in the planning conditions. A new access road is required to be built and in service prior to the stadium starting to operate. Another maybe £1m or so that they need to find?

Not wanting to circumvent any rules here but there's obviously a lot of people who do want to discuss this and they're mostly Wakefield fans.
This is definitely Richard Wrights attempt to gazump Andrew Glovers meeting so it is related to the topic of the thread.
If we went to the Cas board we'd be labelled trolls and trouble makers, if we went to the VT we'd be told it was a Wakefield topic.

He is on holiday in France (the gorgeous Ile de re) so is only accessing the board on his friends IPad now and again.
Although, I am pleased to see that RW (or some of his flunkey's) have seen fit to help give further substance to what I know to be true!
There are some very interesting things in both the press release and the flyer promoting the petition! First thing is why, if the meeting had gone so positively well would the club feel the need to get a target 15k petition up and running, even before they have put in an application? You don't even know what exactly you are supporting? The thing is this is IMO, only half about pressuring WMDC and the other more main reason is to actually make it appear to the RFL that the scheme has overwhelming support and therefore more likey to go through quickly.
There are a couple of other things that jump out at me as well and that is some key points they are keen to push!
"Stop retail leakage from Castleford"
"help regenerate the town centre"
"make Castleford a better retail destination"
and finally
"Be the catalyst for further investment in Castleford town centre..."
The thing is these are the issues, I understand, that WMDC raised as the issues that they saw as the obstacles to granting permission for a supermarket on this site. They are worried about the impact of such a large retail store will have on the town centre, which is struggling to recover from GH. Morrison are going into Cas town centre because they were told by the planners that this was their only option of getting into to Cas, so this was the only real option they were given!
They do say "That every little helps" but I don't think the planners have the same opinion!!!

Come on I_A, surely you know as well as I do, that the link road is not just for the stadium.
It is also part of the approval for the remainder of the office/hotel/ and other development, together with an area for a 400-750 plot housing development.
Do you honestly think that the developers (Waystone) will be expecting the Cas club to fund that? I know that if you, or I, were interested in any plot on new Industrial Development we would not pick up the tab for the infrastructure.

Well funny you should ask... I understand that this is a sticky point between Cas and Waystone! Waystone are looking to Cas to make a significant contribution to funding the link road and because it is a condition of the stadium operating, they have a good hand here! I understand that Waystone's opinion is that they have given Cas enough, by giving them the site for nothing and already spending a million on it (although, they had always that to spend). This of course is all irrelevant because, if RW pulls off his deal with Opus, which he will in the end, then he will have the money anyway and Waystone will be happy for them to pay for it, win, win. If things don't come off with Opus then Waystone might reconsider, but until then, why would they?
Do you still believe WR road will be sorted by Christmas?
I notice that Cas Forum seems to have turned into a pro-development forum, which given is previous stance on opposing NW does look rather hypocritical. Even some of NW most vocal opponents suddenly seem to have very strong opinions on why this must be passed by WMDC and seem to be unable to see any negatives at all... It is very de je vue over there at the moment!
I particularly like Casmania's post saying that the council agree that Cas needs another supermarket... If only they could agree on the best location for it, then it could sorted by Christmas... this Christmas!

Read the last few posts, back to my first post on it and then tell me its going along the lines of "most important meeting".
Do you not agree its now a Cas stadium/planning/funding thread?
Not our board they can do as they wish Clan.

I can see your point of Waystone possibly having the upperhand, but I would think that if a client came along for any other plot in the next 12 months or so that would force Waystone's hand

| What is more interesting about Dicky's statement is that it shows that as we draw nearer to the franchise allocation date, the more that fans (from both sides) are showing their true colours, less of these [i"I really hope we both get a stadium"[/i mutual love-in shenanigans.

Simply because as the bids were submitted you were a club more or less at the bottom of the league and had just come out of a very harmful administration process (remember how that damaged Widnes' hopes last time around?).
I think it's generally accepted that yours will be the weakest bid yet again - and the ONLY thing that could possibly alter that perception is if there's a secret stadium ready to go up pretty much immediately which I'm sure would counter all the negativity that has surrounded your club of late.

Just like Cas in 2008 then! Back then you was given the benefit of doubt on the back outline planning permission for Glasshoughton (sound familiar?).
One massive advantage that we have as a club over Cas is that fact we have a backer who is willing to spend up to the full cap. Looking forward it's quite clear this makes us clearly the stronger proposition. If SL wants to strengthen we need as many teams spending up to the full cap. I believe a lot of weight will be put on this criteria by the men in suites at Red Hall.

| Wakefield have not placed more or less bottom during seasons 2008-2010 though. They have an average league position during this time of 8th (hope the maths is correct), with a 5th finish in there too. Working on a limited budget we have done better than some with more to spend. I dont think that the RFL will look on this badly. However the admin thing does look bad, but hasnt the RFL said that this is not a problem anymore? If this glover thing is very good news we may not look so bad after all possibly.

I think you will find there is no evidence of this, in FACT your squad has got weaker since he took over.

Oh sorry the meeting i really hope its fullfills your dreams, and for the record i want both clubs in SL just cant stand some of your lots playground slimey snitching. If as much effort went into turning up to BV for the past years as has gone into picking apart Cas the i assume WTWC would never have gone into admin and you lot would be getting 10,000 crowds.
Fact is like him or hate him Ted made money available you became a good side but the fans didnt turn up in numbers and the gamble backfired.

| Heard something today about the "news", it could be fact or not, it's come from a "good" source, though not a RL one or WT one, though as far as i can see its not just about RL and his position could make him privy to certain knowledge.
It has been (partly) mentioned on here already, and if true makes us look shoo-e in.
Forget the tit for tat, and get down to Cedar Court, you will be kicking yourselves if you don't.

What evidence have you got to support this supposed investment? I think you'll find that most of the signings were funded through being creative with the cash flow rather than Ted sticking his hand in his pocket, which is why under his ownership the club ran up hundreds of thousands of pounds in unpaid sums to HMRC.

Quite right its energy draining, do they actually think the pants they write on hear will sway the RFL.
RDM i never said it was his cash my point was however he got it he made it available, My real point was ablout the energy wasted by fans picking apart each other rather than getting behind the real issues of getting both our clubs sorted out.
