Let's face it, the majority of people in the UK don't priortise data, evidence or scientific research. All we are concerned with is 'likes' on social media, character assassination, censorship and political point scoring. Scientific debates aren't welcome, certainly not on the mainstream media. Everything is about pushing an agenda. Look at basic facts of health; the number of people affected by cancer, heart disease and dementia. They far exceed the damage done by this virus and not even a whimper made by the media. The whole scandal to this virus is plain and simple; there is a complete lack of a sensible response to a coronavirus that has been blown way out of proportion.

Simple maths and listen to the reports from the regions of Spain.
If more than 1 region reports a death in any particular dat, there has to be more than one death nationally.

Expect something similar here and then a relaxing of social distancing to 1 metre, allowing more businesses to open and making it easier for kids to get back to school.
Then, just hold your breath and hope that we dont end up back where we were 3 1/2 months ago

I can see your logic but I need you to provide evidence to support this as a truth.
So far all the countries that got this virus under control and came out of lockdown have shown no indication of a second wave.
The evidence in data shows like all viruses, it has burnt itself out. It's time to fully reopen society and then act cautiously once Winter comes around again.

Posting one blog, saying there are others that have been shut (so can't be proven) and then aggressively challenging others to disprove is just trolling for the sake of it or a complete tin foil hat issue. I can't decide which.

My main reason for doubting your credibility is that you are outraged at everything that is mainstream. Even grumpy Willzay has a balance to his views sometimes and can laugh about it when proved wrong. You just come across as desperate when you can't see even a chink of light in anybody else's point.

Just when you think Johnson and the government could not get any worse they choose this time to waste almost a million pounds to paint his plane in red white and blue, a minister breaks the Covid press conference rules by criticising the opposition who must have the right of reply and then the health secretary breaks the self distancing rules.
I know they couldn’t break any more promises but yes because apparently the app in the track and trace may not be ready until winter. We have no need to worry because it is not that important because we have our tracers. It would be worth ridiculing the disaster if it was not for the facts that these failures have caused unnecessary deaths.

I'm pretty sure none of the things you list there have caused any deaths.

The last could but it is systematic of how the whole pandemic has been handled. It is not possible to get away from the fact that our number of excess deaths makes us one of the worst in the world.

It was never about handling the pandemic for this government. It was all about managing the political message and the PR.

I have not yet resorted to either of these platforms for my information, nor will I. If I wanted fake news to use Trump I would take the word of Johnson as gospel.

Spot on S P one of the smallest Countries in Europe but one of the highest population .People packed in like sardines from all over the World apart from Wales and Scotland

I have no problem with immigration,I do have a problem with how the government has handled the pandemic. If the number of excess deaths was immigration lead I am sure Germany would have a much higher rate than they have.

The fact that my wife had to stay away from her job, that I haven't hugged or seen much of my 6 month old granddaughter, plus my nine year old granddaughter...That my previously very active 98 year old neighbour is now housebound, cut off from friends and family.

Presumably you know for sure that any other party in government would have done it differently and had overwhelming success.

Well holding the government of the day to account for its actions is not the same as saying a government of a different hue would have automatically done better. Demanding accountability for government actions should be something we all want irrespective of our political affiliations. For example I've read plenty of moderate tories who lamented at the state of the Labour party because they recognised that in a healthy democracy there has to be an effective opposition and the government must be open to scrutiny.

It doesn’t matter what anyone else would have done because it is irrelevant, I don’t remember the Government asking them do you. The only certainty is how the current government has handled the pandemic, which is at best shambolic. If it had been a success would you be on here saying that the rest would have done it better I doubt it.

What happened to the 'world-beating' app? The government were told weeks ago that it would be almost impossible without the input of Apple/Google, but carried on wasting money regardless. Nothing to do with hindsight. No doubt feathering the nests of their pals. I guess what they really wanted to do was harvest people's data.
