I know it is all said in jest but worth stating that being antagonistic to them will make them look better than they are and make us look like a bunch of football supporters who intimidate rather than raising a valid well thought out arguement.

If we believe in our cause, then we should be happy for a weak challenge. It will strengthen the case if this is the only objection.
If we get defensive about their arguement it simply adds credence to their point.

However, we should also make sure people know the facts so the SWAG guys are doing is still very valuable and needs to be promoted as much as possible until we are watching young Morton scoot over for his first try at Newmarket.

The latest nimby letter to roll in really had me in stitches,

I will be home from Cumbria on sat, I've offered 2 pints for any of my mates in Sandal in return for a quick letter in support. In fact anyone that drinks in the Castle show me a print out of your letter and i will happily get you a couple of jars in!!!- hopefully i can get at least 10 in over the next week!!!

I don't think we need such a detailed sheet for a home game. A simple - sign up and support our new stadium should be more than enough, and we probably will do something for the Cas game!

However, the form produced by Khlav is excellent for those in the areas around the development or those with no interest in the rugby itself. There is definitely a case for having them distributed around Stanley etc.

Who is going to read the comments regarding the development?

Is it just for the benefit of the General Public, or, will the powers that be, take them into account when making their decision?

From what I understand the on-line system is supposed to be as equally relevant as the letters they also receive in support/objection. It is just a more modern relevant way to get people to contribute. The reason it asks for your postcode is so they at least have the ability to check that a comment has come from a relevant postcode and check back with the electoral register if required to validate the individual concerned. With this been seen as a city wide benefiting development, all comments within the district will be read and considered, with the more local 'postcoded' comments carrying more weight, for obvious reasons.

So yes, I understand so.

I received a letter yesterday advising that all comments will be taken into account when a decision is made on the application. The making of decision on most applications will be delegated to the Service Director for Planning who I’m guessing will read the report set out by the case officer.

Whist the comments are taken into account, it doesn’t follow that an application will be approved or refused because of letters of support or objection have been received due to the other planning considerations of the case.

If you’ve sent in comments you’ll more then likely receive one of these letters.

There was no conscious reason for using capitals although I think wildthing makes a good point. I don’t think it’s worse for reading because of it?
