Never in this world is that site worth 50 million even with a supermarket - the cost of road works alone makes it a non starter - why build one there for heavens sake. Why build one there? because it isn't that far from the town centre, it's a big bit of land that's available for them and there's an even bigger plot just down the road - Nestle, which they also want. This is probably where the final £50m comes from.

Give your head a shake, even Lidl would not move to Cas. I have it on good authority that its Poundland with a new sooper dooper state of the art emporium, and that they are after aquiring Nestles as well to build the warehousing to service the store.

The only factual information i can gather from that press release, is that the proposed development of a stadium at Glasshoughton has been moved backed, the sale of WR to Ben Bailey has fallen through and that GH's actual development is dependent upon Opus Land (who haven't yet bought WR) gaining approval from the council.

Seems to have managed a positive spin on what is in actual fact bad news for Castleford and further set backs with WR's sale up in the air

If all this goes through with the time these things take i'd be amazed if its ready for the 2013 season. More likely the year after.

Also if its correct that Ben Bailey Homes have been paid off by cas from the retainer they had on the ground, why wouldn't they just proceed with the sale and then sell on the land themselves at a tidy profit? If the supermarket development was such a sure fire thing then that would have been the most sensible thing to do surely? Think theres a bit to run on this one yet. Good PR again though.

The BB deal didn't fall through they wanted to offer us less money than our ground was worth, we would have been stupid to sell at a reduced rate simply to satisfy license application - you don't give your biggest assetts away for a song and you guys should no all about that.

RW has stated who he is working with so its not just a throw away statement otherwise the other parties would come out denying any involvement.

If you want to look at people bringing out statements that are spin trying to curry favour the RFL maybe you need to look a little closer to home with statements like sharing newmarket with Cas something that we have not entered discussions about.

I don't know abour Opus, supermarkets etc. I do know that Castleford terminated the Ben Bailey agreement some weeks ago, and that the land would be worth a lot more to a specialised supermarket developer. That is 100% fact. Ben Baileys did not walk away, they were told to go away. This is from one deflated BB employee. He said he couldn't blame them as it was good business for Castleford, but it was a blow.

Why waste time on them anyway. Good luck in fact. We have to concentrate getting our own house in order, which i now have more faith in.

Just a point of having to create suitable road access would take years to resolve with CPO's etc. All developments of this size automatically get called in as well. This is definitely on par with a Richardson rant.

Do you not yet realise that the whole deveopment (Including the link roads) has Planning Permission and cannot not be "called in"?

Full Panning Permission will be granted if/when it goes to committee on the 7th.

A link road as required would be built well within the time it takes to build a stadium.

All major shopping developments do. I'm also a Everton ST holder and exactly the same happened with our proposed development with Tesco in Kirby. That got knocked back.
So I will reiterate you are being fed a line and so is the RFL.

Which supermarket, I wonder? Morrisons already have plans for Cas I think, Asda have a new store at GH. I suspect both these firms will fight tooth and nail to delay any competitors getting their snout in the trough, using fair means or..not quite so fair (I'm not risking being sued by them!)
