| Quote ="charlie63wildcat"Well in that case there is no such thing as a solvent RL team and they are paying wages and living beyond thei means. 8000 is an astonishing hoem attendance for WT. Its more than I've known in 40 odd years of watching. Few clubs can expect 10000 in RL. If 8000+ is not enough to support a club then the wages paid to players have to be re appraised, across the board. All clubs MUST live by their means'"
Well without a sugar daddy that's what's happening, isn't it, apart from the Leeds, Wigan, Hull, Warrington crowd who get those crowds, plus in some cases also have wealthy owners. It's very easy to sit here as fans and say that but we'll be the first to moan when we have a poor side with no one worth watching and down at the very bottom of the table. Imo running a club like ours would be a nightmare.

I think it could be quite interesting, provided the supporters were prepared to accept that the club was cutting its cloth; so long as we have fans who want to get in for nowt but still expect the team to be challenging the top 8, then yes, it would be (and is) a nightmare.

| Strangely, I was at Scarborough Athletic Vs Ashington in the preliminary round of the FA Cup today, watching a match in surroundings not entirely dissimilar to Belle Vue, at Brid Town, when my Dad phoned me to tell me of Tim Smith's departure. A marvellous day in the sponsor's box, but that's by the by. One of the guys there had connections with someone at Trinity I won't embarrass. I was told how much the players care about the club and how worried they are about their wages and futures. Also how they live and breathe RL and train like f237. I felt a bit humble and guilty for criticising. The humour and commitment of the few die hard Scarborough fans made me think how we must pull together to suppot Trinity, though being unable to buy a season ticket on line tonight has made me sigh that sigh of ineveitability again....but we bat on

Obviously there's been mistakes and we're back in the mire where none of us want to be, it's disheartening and tests us to the core. Whatever the cause(s) human, economic, external or just plain bad luck we've just got to do what we do best, what we do better than anyone, rally behind the club and support in every way we can.
The club strap line of 'Together we are Stronger' has never rung true for me because I never believed the club and the supporters were 'Together' enough. However, where it does apply, where it's most fitting, where it has real resonance and meaning is between us THE FANS!
WE ARE THE CLUB and together we ARE stronger!
So let's get stronger and stronger!
Despite the current and hopefully short term financial issues we are in a far better place than 2 or 3 years ago.
We have a stronger more talented squad
We have attendances of over 8,000 over the last 2 seasons
The old girl, Belle Vue, new stands and all is rocking on match days with an atmosphere none can match
Our future at Newmarket is oh so close to happening
Best of all, and I can speak from first hand experience, we have some of the best young players coming through the Academy system that I have seen in many a year.
Our unbeaten U16s have some of the most sought after talent in the game, I won't name names as that wouldn't be fair but you'll see some of them soon and you won't be disappointed.
We have secured some of the best, most talented, gifted and BIG U14s (next years U15s) that West Yorkshire has to offer and if anything, with hard work, they'll go on to challenge any youth side we've ever produced and that's hard for me to say!
Club 1873 is working
Like you, Wakefield Trinity is in my blood,
stop watching??
You might as well ask me to stop breathing.'"
would like to echo your sentiments too in backing club 1873,
while the current under 16s move on undefeated the next batch has also some quality players coming through as well, what I have noticed is a desire to play for Wakefield before any other club, that's what you want passion to play for the red white and blue

Its not the first time you've posted along these lines Rich and it strikes a cord with me and no doubt many others, never supported Ted and can't say Glover either so i suppose all thats left is the colours, the badge and US fans.
Well said mate.

8000 tickets at half price only equates to 4000 paying full whack (notwithstanding the price of programmes and a couple of pots on match day)
IF we had all paid £200-225 for our s/t's it would almost make up the shortfall.

| That is exactly where both Clan and Bren posts are most significant.
It is in our capabilities as fans to solve the problem, but we don't.
I appreciate not everybody can pay more, and that is the point of the deal for many, but it is there to be solved if we can either convince people to come and pay the money to see the game.

| Like you clan I've seen our u16s go undefeated against teams in the bottom half of the league not disputing they've looked impressive but the best team they beat Warrington had almost 50 points put passed them by Leeds and hull and over 50 points against them by Wigan and saints ,what I'm saying is don't let's get exited yet, oh and after many years dealing with youth rugby the big for u14s doesn't mean a lot for how they l go on in later years but I'll admit the talented bit does

| Like Joe Banjo, I would also be willing to invest (maybe not the £1000) but for a club which has been part of my life since 1960, it would be worth it. Co-ordination required though.

| What I'm saying is the u18s that won the title a few seasons back beat all the teams in the league including the runners up Wigan 3times ,not many came through to make the grade hence my view not to get exited yet claims that these could be the best academy team we've had for years is in my opinion a bit presumtious, and every body knows talent is an important thing, but when boys become men other things become even more important and you should know that

I could be interested in a scheme like this, although I would need certain assurances and it would have to be in the form of a share issue.

| Having now gone through the press release and got a more detailed update 2 things stand out to me.
1. Looks like even after selling Smith we are £400K short !
2. I would happily put some money in, however an handshake from AG is worrying. He could change his mind in 6 months/ 12 months or whenever. If he calls in his loan we could be sunk again.

1. I heard it the other way - the interviewer said "is the 400k AFTER the sale of Smith," and Carter replied, "No."
2. He said he also had a letter from AG giving an undertaking that he wouldn't pull his money out.
