Just back from Hull with another victory for us West Yorkshire lot -

Skirlaugh Bulls - 4
Crigg All Blacks - 28

Another slow start from us ( must be the travelling ) , but soon took command and were up 16-0 at h/t.
The ref then decided to march them up the pitch and after a string of bizzare penalties Skirlaugh scored ( after being denied ourselves by a blatant trip ) . I was beggining to think " here we go " , but we then scored another couple of tries & so that's us into the semi's


Got to praise the Skirlaugh tackling today though - certainly weren't afraid of our big lads by any means - good effort from all their lads

2 knee ligament injuries (season over)
1 Ankle ligament injury
1 Tonsilitis

10 fit players

sad to see kids getting injuries that sever that rules them out of the season
we have two top players our selves out
one with a dislocated knee which is on the mend nicely and another broken wrist/arm which sounded quite nasty

luckily we have a squad of 22 at the moment but I have a feeling it may render down due to lack of game time

Barla cup quarter final this weekend For Stanley Rangers U14s v Normanton knights at Stanley Sunday 11-30 ko

cas panthers u12s travelled to eastmoor in the heavy rain and with a very heavy pitch to contend with to win 6-16.

we fell behind in the very first set and had to really dig deep but dig deep we did and with some very odd referreeing mannaged to grind out the win.both teams did incredibly well in conditions which were just about playable.

Crigg u12's beat east leeds 36-0 . Later ko than planned cos the ref didn't turn up - another was sent asap & so they kicked off about 45 mins late ( probably ended up with the best ref I've seen all year too !).
Both teams did well in the rain tbh , but Crigg soon found the gaps in the E/L defence & never looked in danger . Good of the E/L coach to applaud our rugby afterwards & realise that we're not just a one man team .
Yorks cup semi final for us next Sunday

Today's quarter final for Stanley Rangers U14s against Normanton Knights ended up being a one sided score line at 42 - 1 but it was far from was an easy encounter, the pressure that they had on them in the first half they could of easily been closer to the 18 - 0.

it was evident that with us having the slope in the second half that we would increase that score line, all dues to Normy in not giving in and managed to take a point on the board to not be niled

while the score line suggest that we played well it could of been far bigger if mistakes hadn't happened.

I don't particular mention my lad but today has proven to me that he can turn up when its required scoring a well taken 60yrd try and put his self about the field as well

well done lad very proud of you today



Next week we have the Skirlaugh Bulls visiting us in the Barla semi final.
having played a friendly earlier in the year and winning it 10 - 38 they have been told not to expect the same result as this has in the past caused the lads to lose focus

this will be one to watch as Skirlaugh beat West Hull 6 - 8 two strong sides from the Hull area

thats a hell of a good win.

good luck next week in the semi final im pretty sure you will take the world of beating.

its east hull for us next week who havent conceded a point since they played lock lane last month so our task is a huge one but if we give it 100% we will go close.

i know what you meen about the nerves,i think we will be having a low key training week has we really trained hard in the build up to the hull dockers game and it really got the better of one or two kids and we ended up putting in our worst performance of the year.

its never nice to hear when young lads are injured hope he makes a speedy recovery.

captain of our young uns school team came home yesterday to tell us Ketty high have a game with out wood on Friday

think that if the game goes ahead a large contingent of the team will be missing . semi final weekend and most parents not keen on seeing young uns get tired or injured for a friendly that can be rearranged.

if all is the same at your end i think you have at least 2 players at the grange which im sure you will be glad don't have to play twice in 2 days.
