| Wouldn't go for ainscough exciting with ball in hand and excellent finisher but he costs you as many tries as he scores. Haven't we been complaining about this type of player already this season?????

Agreed we don't need another poor defender on the wing.

| Matt Cooper from NRL. The single best defender I have ever seen in the Centre, and by god that is something we are missing more than anything else.

| i would like to see us invest in the youth that squadbuilder have provided for us ...
remember that Smurpth as been with us 4 years being gradually brought into the thick of it . Kear knows how to blend the kids in and when. we have much talent behind the scene and i for one am fed up of letting players like this go.
how ever if we were to bring a Aussie over then if he as half the commitment of JD then i will be happy

| I wouldn't buy anymore Aussies. We have enough talent in our own backyard!
IMO a massive cap on all non GB players is the only way British clubs will ever catch up with our friends down under.
1 non GB/French player for each club is the way forward IMO.

| We will have MASSIVE problems in signing genuine long term, British, quality players - particularly those who have already made their mark in the first team where they are. Indeed I also think we will have the devils own job keeping hold of some of those we have already brought through.
We have 1 player (IIRC - BJ) who is signed beyond 2012 - not because we don't want them, but because however optimistic we are about getting the new stadium, we cannot guarantee SL beyond 2012, which several of our neighbours and fellow SL clubs can.
Until we see the ground being built and the licence granted I think it is likely that the persuasion towards 'security' elsewhere may force the hand of a number of potential deals and so we should, as ever, look to continue to blend a mix of youth, elder statesmen and a mish-mash of overseas players who are prepared to come to our club, try their hand (or whatever motivates them), but know that when they come here it will be hard work / backs to the wall all the way and they are happy to muck in with that.
In the meantime I think we have to hope to hang on to the 'crown jewels' coming through the academy long enough to then be able to offer them the long term deals that they, at that time, deserve.

Too true, but what we need to do is look at retaining young players from our City. The Cas under 14's scholorship going to 15's from september is full of talanted exciting young players, Burman, Ledger, Green, Howden, to name a few, are Wakey born n bred, all play for a local wakey side, and are at Cas, there lie's the problem. If we cant attract the best kids in our City, how can we hope to get em in from far and wide ?

'" its been proved that contracts aren't worth the paper they are written on, if anything it could help the club if a wanted player has an extended contract passed the 2012 season as we we would get a transfer fee, that's if the worse came to the worse

| The scholarships prove nothing, look at the amount that go through leeds' acadamey system, and how many of them turn up at other SL or NL clubs compared to how many make the Leeds team.
Equally look at how many quota, non fed or players from other SL and NL clubs they have.
Because of the franchise system there will always be a juggling of players to keep within the restraints, unless your Wigan!!!!

| and look at how many superstars at 15, don't go beyond the academy at all.
It all sounds very good saying you sign the youngsters but if they don't make it (and only a small percentage do) you are wasting your money.
That's why Leeds get the good ones because they can afford to pay for the ones they don't get.

Not so snowie I'm afraid.
Contracts generally have a 'get-out' clause for in the event of 'relegation' for whatever reason - that way we wouldn't be tied to paying contracts that we couldn't afford outside SL. This therefore offers no security to the player and hence will make other - sometimes lower money - offers appear more attractive to some.
Nowt we can do about it until the building starts!

Indeed - but also to improve the all-round quality of the competition and, in all honesty, none of us can say that BV is up to the required standard for the 21st Century!

| Once the stadium is confirmed; players will find Trin an attractive proposition.
Just look at the difference progress has made to Salford.

And only in 21st century sport can owning your own ground with a near perfect playing surface be less important than being a tennent at a sand pit, where you can't even use the changing facilities.
I wonder if the changing rooms under the south stand are up to the standard of 21st century sport.

I'm sure they will be when it gets redeveloped in time. Same goes for the North Stand. Leeds, however, have some grace over the state of their home ground due to excelling in other areas. Wakefield do not. If BV was packed out and Trinity had just won three SL titles in a row the new stadium would not be quite so integral in gaining a SL license in 2012.
