| I don't think a groundshare is a good financial thing for Cas. They will never get crowds at Newmarket as big as Wakefield's, because it is outside of Castleford and perceived to be Wakefield's ground. So they will always be the poorer relation to Wakefield in terms of player recruitment, and therefore success, and therefore profits. If there is a merger, I reckon a Castleford side would emerge in the lower divisions, and Wakefield will be like the Huddersfield end of the Sheffield merger.
I would be interested to hear the Cas fans perspective, as to whether a Championship side in Castleford or a Super League side playing out of Wakefield's ground.

So - neither.

| Not snide at all. Every time something happens at Cas a thread pops up (Wright, McGoldrick, Chase, RW Stadium updates, etc etc).
No, I was responding to the question in response to some comments made by your own fans that his resignation means that the house of cards is falling down. The press release says it all: his resignation doesn't affect the stadium and he remains on the BoD as he's fully versed with the stadium situation. Had it been him stepping down completely spontaneously then I may be inclined to question it.

Well we one this forum like to discuss RL matters and if you don't like the content you don't have to visit.
The press release says very little so people on this forum are entitled to summise.
If you wish to shoot over to this forum to defend Tricky you are entitled to do so, but as you have experienced
many times in the past, you my get ridiculed for it.
As the saying goes, if you can't take it ...

| One of the movers and shakers behind getting RW ousted is a shareholder at Cas and has been opposed to the WR development from day 1 - I believe he owns a retail business that is likely to be killed off by a new supermarket.
It therefore wouldn't surprise me if the focus now switches to selling WR for housing and approaches are made for a tenancy at NM.

Been convinced this would happen for the last couple of years. Just watch the very subtle spin come out from Cas over the next few months. Many of those who were so opposed to moving out of cas will gradually start to indicate that a move to Newmarket may not be such a bad thing.
I also suspect that they will sell the idea on the basis that the move is only an intrim measure pending the GH development. However once they are in they will stay.

We certainly didn't appear to be the mugs we'd looked like before in the sale/transfer market after Ferres joined us.
I agree with you, he was a canny operator and seemed to move us forward a lot. He made a few decisions that didn't sit well with the older supporters - like ditching the Trinity part of the brand label - but all in all, I think this is good news for Cas, or should I say, "The Tigers". He has his contacts at Red Hall, and Cas will certainly act like a better club over the next 2 years, which may have some bearing come the next round of franchises.
I don't know anything about his boredom threshold - it may just be a tolerance threshold when things don't go his way.

Well he's either convinced that Glasshoughton will become reality and won't part with his shares, or no one will buy them off him. In his own words:
"The move has got nothing to do with recent rumours regarding consortiums looking to take over the club.
Whilst it is true there was an approach, when the time came to get the cheque-book out nothing materialised."

Nowhere left to go apart from the board then, is there?

| The club have apparently been assured by Tesco, That while they are cutting back in these type of investments, Our project isnt one of them, So i very much doubt we are thinking of Newmarket, Not yet anyway.
If Tesco sign the deal, Your definitely no further along than us, In fact. Some way behind.
As for RW, He could sell his shares, But refuses to sell them on the cheap, He is confident in the stadium project, And his shares become a lot more valuable then.

Is there a link re the Tescos investment I thought that the party interested was being kept confidential. Its not Tesco really thats the issue then its the whole development on WR and the road changes etc where all the permissions will have to be sought so in effect you are behind us I guess.

| The fact is that IF the development of WR and the GH new ground were close or on the clear horizon, there is no way in this world RW would have stood down, with all the hard work he has put in, he would not want anyone else to take the glory, I am sure he has stood down for the good of the club as he has seen that a totally new approach needs to be taken to take CT forward. GH is nowhere near, a deal with a major food retailer is no close to being done, WR will not be sold for housing.
IMO CT will develop WR to bring it up in spec and it might just be enough to save them I don't think they would agree to play (either temporary or long term) at NM they are more likely to do a deal with Doncaster before us and that might be for 6months whilst 2 new stands are built at WR

| As far as I can recall he certainly sharpened up our act, but I think in the end the job either became too frustrating or he got bored, I think he tried to instigate some take over, but it came to nothing.

Well, let me say he does not suffer fools lightly and is very good at turning things around, IMO he's the right man for the job, go to the "meeting" and speak with him, he will listen to the fans he knows thats the way forward.
He did try to drop the name "TRINITY" and that did not go down well but he's had a couple of stints at BV and from what little i know did the job.
I would have liked AG to have brought him on board when he took over.

Agree with all that. I think he is a great asset for the game of RL and will do a good job for Cas. Yes Wakey fans its great for Cas to survive as its definitely one of the fixtures to look forward to

| Briefly:
1 I want Cas at GH NOT at NM - I fear the M word would inevitably follow and bear in mind that 2 clubs in one stadium would have to share certain revenue lines as well as costs.
2 Steve Ferres is good on RL and players - not so on dealing with admin and isn't the easiest guy to get on with. Overall good for Cas.
3 My information was that Tesco had 'cooled' on Cas - they have an application for Ings Road and plans for Ponte at the moment - and even if they do look at Cas there are several sites available - some potentially better than WR. I still think WR will end up as housing, but good luck to them.
Interesting times!

From what I have heard if it is robbo who is involved, he favours WR being developed.
As for wright, perhaps it is the realisation that the value of WR now and in the foreseeable future is nowhere near enough to fund cas' part of any GH development and that outside help will be needed.
Climb down now, or be at the helm when ther good ship glasshoughton finally sinks without a trace, he certainly couldn't be the skipper when a share at NM comes on to the radar.
