I thought you would be staying put when I read things like AG re-carpeting the whole place, not something you would do for the few remaining matches you have at BV. The temporary stands thing is interesting, where will they go? If you put one at the flats end then you lose a lot of income from the flats. I might add what ever you do I think Mr Glover has his head Screwed on and will do what is best for the long term good of the club, where as with Ted you felt it was all super league or bust.

Most likely place is the Western Terrace, it's not as if it would take much to level, and the North Bank, although larger, still comprises of the same materials, perhaps it would extend as far back. Main stand cans stay as it is and the Blocks provide the hospitality. However I can't see how this can be done without reducing capacity. If in the Championship it doesn’t matter, but if it for SL then it does.

If it did, there wouldnt be much need for temporary stands.

I imagine something like this would suit the Western Terrace.

I don't know whether we're staying or not but I can confirm a couple of things about the possibility of temporary stands.

When the hospitality buildings were built the plan was to put a covered stand in front of them and there were also plans to put a covered stand down the western terrace. The groundworks for the western terrace stand were actualy put in, I know it was ten years ago but some fans might remember the section between the new toilet block and the old boxes being fenced of for some time.

As far as I know the foundations are still there, the only reservation I have is that I remember there being something about strengthening the boundary wall at the back of the western terrace and that might be costly.

There were also preliminary investigations done into covering the North terracing and adding a second tier to the east stand.

Yes but i can't see there being too much problem with getting it.

Newmarket sailed through planning... unanimous... it was just the 'call in' bit that we got wrong!

With Cas' announcement today that they are definately playing at Wheldon Rd next season (at least) I would have thought it now more important than ever to have an agreement in place to play at Oakwell next year. Trying to make improvements to BV ain't going to work, you can't polish a turd. Playing in a suitable stadium next year might just give the RFL something to think about.

With both BV and WR not being up to SL standards, and yet both clubs intimating that they will/may be staying put, am i jumping to an unreasonable conclusion that both clubs will either be removed from SL, or that they are both remaining and we may perhaps have a 16 team SL next year???

Or they pick one and boot them out!

This is what i think that will happen but i am hoping we may be spared the chop and the competition expanded.

We will find out on the 31st of March which club will come up so i guess we will find out for definite how many teams will be in the competition then.

I've also heard the rumour that we're staying put next season and could be seeking to regain ownership of BV.

When I first heard that, I thought it meant that Mr G was resigned to a period in the Championship, with a view to reorganising the business and working towards a strong bid in the next round, by then, playing out of NM, so no ambiguity about the stadium element.

With the suggestion that Cas are also staying put next season, I'm again wondering if both clubs have had the nod from the RFL that they're staying up; it would make sense, since both now have new monied backers and both seem to be finally making substantive progress towards shiny stadiums.

Could be wishful thinking, but it is increasingly hard to see how the RFL can retain any legitimacy or credibility if they remove a club like WTW or Cas, whilst propping up Crusaders and Quins.

As much as i'd like to believe it I just can't see the RFL or the other clubs agreeing to go to 16 teams, it would split the pot too thinly. Also there is an issue of whether the playing talent is available to sustain two more competitive clubs. Cas' announcement would bring us back into contention providing we are playing out of a quality stadium. If we are staying at BV, forget it, we're gone. They'd not be a huge amount between the sides but our recent financial history would see them get the nod. But if we were playing out of a nice shiny stadium next year and they weren't.......

Yep you can. Still wouldn't pick it up though!

Obviously Mr Wright see's the approval of yet another 'out of town' large retail destination as a formality. Not that ASDA @Glasshoughton, the town centre retailers etc will have a say in this. Plus the enormous impact on what is already a traffic bottleneck.
These type of applications are nailed on for being called in. Just look at ASDA Sandal for one, which got knocked back.
