Option 1 won't happen - if the CLUB starts the season, the CLUB will finish it............the BUSINESS on the other hand is a totally different matter.

Option 2 - IMHO is the right thing to do. There's no way that another club (i.e. Widnes who are all but confirmed as the promoted team) can build a squad capable of competing in SL in less than 4 weeks so the RFL will have to allow WT to continue there for this season. It does mean that we'd almost certainly be facing 3 years out of SL, but it would probably see us come back stronger - both on & off the pitch.

If we go out of SL they will never let us back in, simple reason, they do not need us, if any one thinks any different, then they are not right in the head. They wont to expand the game, not have a load of teams from yorkshire in.our gates will be around 1500, that means no money coming in.Sorry but thats the way it will be. I can see SL in time to come with less teams in, like the fat cats taking all the money from sky.

Question is........do you want to watch your club (possibly not in SL) or do you just want to watch SL?

That is the reality of the situation you find yourselves in , to drop down and then push your way back in would require massive investement , you would need Newmarket to be built , you would need to fill it in the Championship , and hope that another heartland SL club implodes as you have done

Toulouse are the next SL club after Widnes , if you had managed to get Newmarket or Thornes park built then either Cas would be on their way out or we would be looking at a 16 team SL next year

I'm no big Shudds fan but I have to agree that they are now in fair and square.
Perhaps what the original comment refers to is Shudds elevation and maintenance for a lengthy period in Super League giving them an elevated position to achieve what they eventually got???

You did get up fair and square, although the RFL did move the goalposts following your promotion, so that future relegated teams lost the luxury of the parachute payment you received (which obviously helped you a great deal). The loss of the payment made it extremely difficult for relegated teams after that, so Huddersfield have had more help than most as far as Superleague is concerned, lucky you!

Bob on. The irony of 'us' banging on about 'fat cats' and 'Sky money' and 'Super League isn't the be all and end all' - yet if the club finds itself out of SL, some of 'us' won't go watch them!

The club has been around since 1873, great from 1958-68. good at other times, garbage for many years. That there is a Wakefield Trinity still around is more important, whether that is playing Super League, Championship or Conference!

I wish you all and trinity the best I am a Leeds Loiners fan but most of my youth was a argument between my dad taking me to Leeds games and my grandad ( was a massive trinity fan) taking me to see trinity. My dad won, but I have great memories, and may grandad would be mortified had he still been here.

I think the biggest problem you (or cas) if you go down is the fact that rugby league clubs in the games heartlands are no longer as desirable as some fly by night operation in some far flung corner of the uk and re-entry to superleague will be a definate non starter. I fear that if cas (or wakey) survive in superleague , then its only a 3 year stay of execution till they (RFL) come looking for another club to drop to suit the aforementioned fly by nights

And the teams which were eligible for promotion in the years Huddersfield finished bottom were not up to the criteria required, and when a team was up to those, they were relegated.
