My son is not a Trinity fan, but he does care what Box gets up to, which for the City of Wakefield is not a lot!

As I have posted on here several times we have 3 councillors in Wrenthorpe. Prior to the May elections 2 were Labour and 1 UKIP. The 2 Labour councillors have never replied to my emails about the ground, the UKIP guy did but was not much help.
We now have 2 Labour and 1 Tory and I cannot see the situation changing as the Labour guys are not bothered as they are afraid to rock the boat if they go against their leader! That leaves the Tory lady- good luck to her against a totally intransigent council leader.

I understand Box is trying to arrange the twinning of Wakefield with Tombstone, Arizona - both of them are "ghost towns".

Isn`t it just quite unbelievable that blatant corruption still exists in politics in this modern day? So much has changed, but I don`t think that ever will.

We will eventually just be a suburb of Leeds.

You all like to criticise the city of Wakefield and how it is run. Why don’t any of you stand if the electorate believe you then you will win. It will also take up some of the free time too many of you have to fill looking at some of the baseless theories posted on here.

The East Coast main line might present a few 'minor' problems unfortunately.

Think you’ve got the location mixed up unless a flyover was built over Wrenthorpe. Plenty of access roads into Wakefield City centre which is where the site is near enough.

It might have escaped your notice but a well known "named" Trinity fan and player sponsor is a serving councillor. She is on the political side of Box although I've no idea if/how she is pressing the stadium issue. I may approach her one day at a match to see if she has any news on updates.

I spoke to her a short while ago regarding the issue.

Was told that talks are ongoing, and have been pleasantly surprised, as to what she had heard, but it wasn't all positivity, but all parties would be happy in the long run.

I tried to delve a bit deeper, but I got the impression she didn't know the full inns and outs, or had to keep confidentiality. I would guess the latter

Oh come on, we have a council leader who went from denying any responsibility to having his no 2 say there would be a ground built, whether Trinity wanted to play there or not, a HUGE white box taken from the original scheme at Newmarket, upsized (massively) and built under on adjacent land, it just goes on and on and on and on........................

All that we want is for WMDC to make happen that which was promised, following a public enquiry and not allow its
"friends" to make a fortune on the back of Trinity's mickey poor situation.

It seems clear that for whatever reason, Mr Box and co, either dont want there to be a SL side in Wakefield or perhaps want to drive Cas and Wakefield together in one stadium.

Box will never allow a Trinity stadium to be built before a Cas stadium. He fears us.

If Wakey get a stadium before Cas, the new advantages will allow Trinity to get ahead in the district and he just won't let that happen.

As far as I am aware, the East Coast main line isn't anywhere near the Rhubarb triangle.

Neither is Balne Lane, and driving an access road through Kirkamgate or Wrenthorpe to service this new ground is not practical or cost effective either.

I tried this three consecutive years and it really is a waste of time unless you are contesting a marginal ward.
