| Quote ="Eastern Wildcat"Although Walton and Howarth have the versatility, just dont think either are quite good enough for this level. In Walton's case when fit, we have substantial cover at centre and second row. As for Howarth, we have Moore and Sio, who are better hookers.
Also, if we were to bring in an extra half back, Finn can also play 9, as can several halves these days.
As for Hall and Tansey, I would keep one, but not both. Personally, I prefer Hall.
If Scruton is a done deal, and we have Hirst coming in, then that leaves Anderson. Although he hasn't featured much, will need to be replaced. Are there any other good English front rowers who wouldn't take up room on the quota spots, to save them for a decent half back and centre.
Walker and Yates, I am not sure about, haven't really seen enough of them to either impress or disappoint me.
BJB had a much better game yesterday, but contract renewals aren't, or shouldn't be awarded after one decent performance in about 15'"
Andersons replacement will hopefully be here this season, with the quota spot becoming available again for halfback cover at the end of the season when Anderson goes home. Also don't bet on Hirst definately coming in.

Here you are.
WTW head coach Chris Chester has revealed that talks have commenced with potential new recruits, and hopes to add to his squad before the start of 2017.
The club has held discussions with players across the world, with Chester targeting more punch across the field.
With Wakefield being one of the few clubs not currently spending up to the salary cap Chester has room to manoeuvre, and he is hoping at least one player will join the club for the current season.
We are in negotiations with players in super league, and a couple in the NRL Chester told league express.
We're hopeful we can bring someone into the squad this year that can not only have a big impact on us but the super league too, and we want to attract other players that can provide a bit more quality that we've possibly lacked this year.
He also stated that we had no interest in Mr Chase.

| Quote ="Mable_Syrup"Vasty, can understand your reasoning. IMO we have proven that pace kills teams. Our backs have bags of it. For that alone I'd keep both Hall and BJB. We are so potent from deep it's a real worry for other teams. Hall with an extended run in centre has proved his value to us IMO and BJB would need to accept he would be on the wing and on reduced terms. I think Anderson not renewing would free up the cash for a quality half. Controversial but I'd still like another centre to partner Hall as I just haven't taken to Arundal'"
And yet Arundal has been a key part of our winning run.
I like him. Of course if we signed Jamie Lyon or maybe Greg Inglis I'd say good bye ...... and that would work as far down as a Sid Domic (Who was a top quality signing for us) but I don't look on him as being a weak link any more. I think he has improved drastically under Smith and then Chester, so it will be good to see if he can progress even more.
Sometimes you need steady over glossy

With regard to Scruton and Anderson leaving. if they both leave then that's a hell of a lotta experience gone from the front row and with all due respect to Keegan Hirst he's not got that SL experience. So I feel that we need 2 experienced props to replace like for like in a position where that quality (experience) for me is vital. For example, look at Leeds (if we must), the players out of their pack who they lost at the end of last season ie 2 props and a referee/pivot, did they replace them?

| He would add experience and steel.
My concern would be that he would be 35 by the end of this season, and should we really be going for someone of that age.
We may get 1 and a bit year out of him, but wouldn't think much more

Assume that you are talking about Gallen and not Mullally
I think that Anthony M would be a good shout and what about the localish lad on loan at C*s - Larne Patrick. (has he fallen out with Anderson at H'field, at Wigan last year, in the H's team then suddenly at Cas, have I missed something?).

| Yes, it was Gallen I meant, regarding ageing props.
I do agree though aboutt Mullally, but not sure about Patrick.
There are a few super league props that are off contract at the end of this year that are British
Craig Kopczak, JOrdan Cox, Gil Dudson and James Green to name a few

| I was joking re Gallen - he'll go to Salford or Hull for a pension top-up before retiring.
It would be great to have Mullally back - he was a barnstormer for us; Patrick, Copczak and Dudson are useless lumps, but I'd have Jordan Cox in a heartbeat.

Wasn't Cox the one how ran nearly the length of the field against us?
Smacks of one of those signings where they have one good game against a club who then sign him and realise he only had one good game in his whole career.
BUT, he looked good to me. I think Wolves are in transition with their props so I'm assuming he is their future

| Totally disagree with some on here about BJB . Wasn't chasing back and saving a try 'getting his finger' out and then sealing the game with a try . The guy has pace which somehow we need to utilise more. How many times has he actually been put into space to show us what he can do?

Errrr.....yes by half a yard! It's 5 yards shorter so not as far to run!
115 × 74.4 yards St. James Park
120 X 74 yards Belle Vue, Wakefield..

The maximum width of a RL pitch is 68 metres...can you guess how wide BV is..?
BV is also 100 metres long...also the maximum.

| Used data off the internet about the size of the pitches which was in yards as well as metres....
68 metres is 74.4 yards....although the data on the length of Belle Vue that I got is also inaccurate as 100 metres is 109 yards...
The RFL state that senior Rugby League pitches should be dimensioned as closely as possible to their specification, which shows the optimum pitch size as 100m x 68m with a 3m safety margin, but gives a range of 6m - 11m for the In-Goal area.

| So there we have it. The assertion that Dragons will like "the wide open spaces of St James's Park", is discredited, as Wakey play on the wide open spaces of BV all season.
As BV is maximum width, St James's can't be wider, or more open. It's simply an illusion of space in a super stadium, the same as Wembley for instance.

Strange isn't it.
Every year at Wembley, Ray French would say "the size of this Wembley pitch" as the reason for player fatigue as players start to cramp up.
It always looked huge though, especially when the kids game was shown !

I would say so, at Bellevue we are up close and personal giving the illusion that the pitch is cramped up.

| The current squad only have these guys out of contract at end of season
Contracted till 2016
Craig Hall
Nick Scruton
Scott Anderson
Danny Kirmond
Stuart Howarth
Jordan Tansey
Andy Yates
So he is either renewing Kirmond, Scruton or Hall, or one of the others are being extended even further.
Maybe Miller beyond 2017 or one of Jowitt and Johnstone beyond 2018
