Some good pubs gone over the years and had some good laughs in them and that dock god it was witches poison dolly grays and grab a granny night mitre for match of day before going in mecca my mate doing door on Raquels and after hours and they go on about youngsters of today binge drinking wonder where they got it from.

Best place ever!! Heppy's nightclub!! Many a drunken happy time in there, remember the boxing ring as the dance floor lol

We as kids were punks so mostly went into Leeds, every now and then did Heppys, free steak Canadian to allow it to by pass the nightclub laws.

The Globe pub stood at right angles to the Smiths Arms
Next door on the corner of Ings Road was the Harlequin Cafe
Between the two pubs was the gate to the mill Patons & Baldwins or Hayley's can't remember ...

Think they are all moved over now.

What about the Calder Vale Hotel down Horbury Junction, I know its out of town but what a proper Mans pub that was.

That was a ritual every Friday and Saturday night - god knows why; you'd to queue up like you were collecting your pension from the post office, and when you got it, it was chuffin rank.

I remember puking one straight back up in the doorway of Peter Jones just across the road - it was a proper funny colour.

Went there a few times playing Pool for the Mitre.

Me and an old m8 Saturday night was pips. Then Sunday was Alex bar b4 Wakey match and 2 bloody great strippers happy. Happy days

You're thinking of George Lee's mill John Willy owd lad. Paton and Baldwins was on Denby Dale Road, I think, and Hayley's on Alverthorpe Road (now a housing estate).

I remember going into the gents in The Woolpack one night and there was a set of false teeth in the urinal. I went again half an hour later and they'd gone.

Remember calling in the Dog and Gun on the way up towards Moodies. Like stepping into the 1950's through a time portal.

Never made it if we attempted the Westgate run but if Talbot or Griffin was the first we always got there. Good times
