Everything you say about Yorkcourt is totally justified. They have no morals whatsoever and their only priority in life is to line their own pockets. However they are not unique, quite sadly as far as the business world of development is concerned they are the norm.
However my real gripe is with WMDC. They are a democratically elected body who pay their top officers huge salaries in order to protect the interests of the general public in projects like Newmarket. WMDC brokered the NM project right from the outset, it was they who identified Yorkcourt and introduced them to the club. WMDC have been in this right from the outset and should have been competent enough to prevent this from happening. WMDC have failed in their duty to protect the public they represent.
OK we have lost a stadium for Wakefield so they may be thinking ,so what it doesn't effect that many people. However this NM project could just have easily have been a school or medical facility or some other community asset. Whichever way you look at things the public of Wakefield have been cheated out of a large sum of 106 money and the blame lies on the shoulders of WMDC in my opinion.'"
Agreed. It is WMDC who are massively at fault here. They were the ones party to the S106 and they should have been the ones making sure it was watertight.
Yorkcourt are a business and are in it to make money. If WMDC gave them a way out of paying several million pounds then most companies would take that opportunity.
WMDC are the ones who should take the brunt of the backlash in my opinion.

Can't see what Tigers proposed plans has anything to do with this topic TRB other than what we might learn from mistakes made by WTW and WMDC.
One thing I didn't know was that WTW were led into the deal with YC by WMDC. Must have missed that detail somehow.

Spot on in what you say. Although the problem is i suppose that if it was a school or a medical facility then pretty much eveyone in the district would disagree with the process would be onside in ganging up against the council. With it being a stadium for a private rugby club, which even though it is a 'community' facility that what is has always been seen as to all and sundry, then the wider level of support needed to make a difference isn't likely to be there. I imagine couple or three thousand irate Wakey fans with a few banners won't bother them in the slightest which leaves us high and dry.

This
The "deal" was portrayed as a 100% certainty, with the only questions being about completion dates etc.
I know its not going to happen but, they ought to put a stop to the whole bloody lot and prevent any of the commercial development, until
the stadium is Guaranteed.
It is beyond belief that there can be ANY loopholes which can allow the development to take place without the Stadium

| Colin Mackie turns out to be cleverer than HM Inspector, the legal dept of WMDC *and* the legendary Sir Rodney Walker; who'da thunk it?
Fair play to him - amoral weasel he may be, and although money doesn't buy happiness, it's a lot more comfortable to cry in a Bentley than on a bicycle.

That would (more than likely) then see council breaching their own legally binding contract, which at present at least (it seems) that YCP aren't.
Crazy innit!!

| The more I read about this the more angry and frustrated I become. Planning for the development wouldn't have granted if the stadium wasn't part of it, thousands signed petitions yet the development seems to be getting built without the community stadium, what's WMDC stance on this?

| It would indeed be good to see our elected council and council lots comment on this.
I'm very surprised that the WE at least haven't been running some kind of story on this.
Radio Yorkshire (who often post on here) should also be interested.

I tell you exactly what the stance of WMDC is.
They realise they have dropped a huge one and have done so for a number of months. They have sat back and done nothing to right their wrong. However they have held out a carrot to Michael Carter in the form of buying back Belle Vue and then providing funds to upgrade the stadium. The idea is that some of the NM stadium land can be re designated and the profits from this is to go to the Belle Vue project.
It gets even better, the person they have in mind to redevelop the newly designated land is the one and only Colin Mackie.
They know full well that this has no chance whatsoever of happening but by going down this route they can draw the whole thing out for two or three more years. We will then get to a stage when everyone has to accept that there is no money to redevelop Belle Vue. The council will then say that it was the clubs fault for preferring that option and they went along with the clubs request. They will also say that Newmarket was killed off by the club requesting this and now its too late to go back to the original plan. (So if you are reading this Daddycool don't fall for it and stick out for Newmarket.)
Here's a bit of cynical speculation to round all this off. By this time ,the New Cas stadium will be well on the way so they can get out of any further obligations by offering us a share over there.

Greedy dishonest developers, hapless local authority squandering community assets and tax payers money, duped supporters of luckless rugby team...
Plenty of plot lines to get started with.

| Not falling for anything. The trust would confirm that we wanted to go public with all this months ago. Quite frankly it stinks. And it's time for someone to become accountable. Because someone somewhere in my opinion will become quite rich out of this.
The club still is only on the periphery of this, because the club just agreed to be an anchor tenant of a community facility.
But the club and the trust are joined on this. And pressure is being applied. But nobody in office seems that bothered! Just throwing out excuses and passing the buck.

If this is still the case then it's time to bring in the media to raise the profile.

You may be interested to know that one or two councillors are starting to ask questions and they are being told the only reason Newmarket will not happen is because the club doesn't want to play there.
Don't worry you will have all our support we are right behind you on this and up for the fight.

| Yes I gather that is being trotted out by quite a few people. The club will play anywhere that is fit for purpose and is a reasonable proposition to the fans. At the last meeting it was my suggestion that there is actually nothing stopping the developer from gifting the original site to the stadium trust. This would give the trust an appropriate asset. Whether that happens remains to be seen.

| I've resisted posting on this subject because quite understandably people want answers and when we say that we can't reveal what we are doing people think we are either stalling or deliberately withholding information.
You've seen posts from TRB, jack in the box and Daddy cool in this thread so its not difficult to piece together where we are and whats gone on.
Rest assured that the Supporters Trust, SWAG, the Club and members of the Stadium Trust are working together, and very hard on this but we have to get facts, timing etc. to all come together and that will ultimately determine what course of action we take. We are all looking to meet next week and discuss our strategy. There are things going on as we speak but we cannot mention them on a public forum.
Can I please appeal to you all to be patient with us, trust us and I can guarantee to you all that we are all working together to try and get the best possible outcome for Wakefield Trinity and the Citizens of Wakefield. I cannot guarantee a 100% successful outcome but I can guarantee that we are giving this 100% of our efforts.
I fear this is going to blow up big time and if that's what it comes to then so be it. All I ask is please trust us and get behind us and support us if or when the brown stuff hits the fan because we will need you. We are all going to be in this together.
By the way I'm the Guy who TRB refers to at the guy who will "die in a ditch" before letting this go and I mean it and I know that's a view shared by everyone of us.
