| I see no reason to criticise Mariano's performance just to disagree with the opening post numpty.
Mariano and Lauittiti looked like our only guys likely to score during the game. Mariano stood up well during that 1st quarter onslaught too.
My balanced view is that I'm sorry he's leaving especially if Ali retires too.

Is this even possible without getting rid of Fox and more so Cockayne?

| Genuine question. Has fox scored more than he has let in down his wing?? What gets me about both our wingers is the shooting in when a full line of defence would be enough to keep teams out instead of giving the opposition walk in trys

The defensive structures would have to change too.

Yeah it looks awful when it doesn't go right, but when they arrive on time it causes big problems for the opposition centres. Sadly the big clubs with better back lines can exploit it though.

| Got to say Mariano had a great game last night, he ran hard, ran good lines and tackled well. Fed up of seeing us lose good players, it would be interesting to hear Agar's justification.
Amor Outstanding, his first tackle on Peacock set the tone for the rest of the match.
Don't know what Agar see's in Lynne and Trout. For me Annakin would have been starting Loose-forward last night with Walshaw/Cowling in the centres.
We desperately need to sign an actual stand off though...

Okay, brains. Who was and why? Because Mariano was the only one who stood out when running the ball in and got several half-breaks. Defensively he was as solid as any other player.

No it isn't and therein lies the problem. I was saying last night I really wouldn't be bothered if we got rid of both of them as long as we got in 2 who can defend. Ben Cockayne was stood right next to Ben Jones-Bishop for their second try and he didn't even attempt to challenge him for the ball. He may as well not have been on the pitch in that instance that's how little pressure he put on him. Now, imagine Ryan Hall in the same position. Would he have just stood and watched his opposite number pluck the ball out of the air and plonk it down without even jumping with him?

| You can't just blame the wingers because try s are scored in the corner, the whole team are supposed to slide across and smother the attacking wingers out.
Foxy twice had to fly in and make a tackle on a player with two men outside him, once it came off and he made a fantastic tackle and one he missed and resulted in a try. He will only have gone for the tackles due to having no other choice (it's desperate stuff!)

I slightly agree but I thought last night Fox could have given the defence time to get across by "shepherding" the Leeds player so to speak. It's not really the main problem with our defence outwide, I think the main problem is our winger's inability to defend kicks. I've lost count of how many times we concede from kicks to our wingers. Their kick defence is shockingly bad and they can't seem to catch a ball under pressure (a hard task I know but they're paid to be able to do it!)

| At the end of the day week in week out our line defence is failing, and its not just the fault of one player. For me it is the structure that we are using and that is the responsibility of the coach to fix....

| I thought are defence was pretty good last night goal line especially.
Yes the structure is wrong with wingers shooting in to stop the play.
It looks bad when it doesn't come off.
How many times have we seen that this season?
Nearly every game!
Good teams exposé this.
I think it needs to change but does Mr Agar?

| Defence was strong. Its simple too much dropped ball/simple errors. Cut them out and we'd have one. Hopefully that will happen next Friday night.
Looking forward to seeing big Taulima Tautai get on the pitch and carry on from where he left off. He'll have to play prop to cover the absence of Raleigh for the season now. Strange Annakin didn't get a run ahead of Trout?
