| I realy enjoyed the evening, Terry Crook is a great MC and it was interesting to hear about RA life in RL. RA does not do very much media work but I have got to say he was very good, he spoke at length about his early life, his playing and coaching experiences. He was humorous and very open. For me I was encouraged to hear his thoughts on the structure of the game , the way forward etc. I was plaesed to hear that he thinks the game needs a proper A team competition. He is a true RL man and knows the importance of community clubs etc etc. I valued hearing his explanations on our current players, their form, playing pathways for Trout, Wildie etc. RA came across as a top bloke, honest, hard working and a person who is giving 100 % to Trinity. Like all fans I disagree with some of his selections but what comes across, when you speak with RA he has the best interest of the club and players at heart. Add to that Anakin has signed, all in all a very good night out, many thanks to Carlton CC

I guess because doing it on here is a different proposition to doing it when he's sat in front of you.

| Alas could not go due to being at work but you have to give Agar one thing he can certainly talk the game. Now if that had been an evening with at Hull merchant sailors club a few seasons ago then spleens would have been vented.

One or two from this board who have "made comment strongly" turned up and spoke with Richard face to face, no idea what was said or the outcome but i reckon that kinda dispels you're theory.
In fact they deserve credit for it.

Fair play to them - I did something similar last year and came away very impressed; he talks passionately about the game and it's hard not to get carried along by his enthusiasm.
I wonder why he's not part of the clique who are used as pundits on Sky Sports?

he's probably not got the full repertoire of cliches yet to make this role work - and he knows what he is on about

| He was asked questions and he gave answers , I must admit I personally didn’t like or agree with his judgement relating to Walshaw , Mariano , and his support for Lynne and Molloy , he did say Cowling could get  a chance if Dean was unavailable , he must have not been at the Saints game last season. And Matty needed to be playing more regularly , Trout was doing  better. But out of all of them only one or two would make it

| Wish I could have gone. What did he say about Mariano and Cowling? If he thinks Molloy and Lynn are better we have problems. They maybe better in training but they have produced 0 ability so far and they shouldn't keep getting chances. This proves once again he does not give chances to players who deserves it. You cannot say someone is better without giving them a oppotunity !!

| a coach will live and die by his decisions, if he feels someone is not up to it for what ever reason he wont play them, We will never fully know the ins and out, and ive heard a few things, but we have to trust coach to do the best for the club and team.

That is what training is for.
It isn't a popularity contest. I don't suppose he minds if the players are or are not buddies with him. He gets paid on his results. I can't imagine he will be playing Lynne just because he "likes" him and doesn't play Cowling because he doesn't.
I would think he picks the team he believes has the best chance of winning.
I reckon I can say Tim Smith is better than any of the other options at Scrum Half even though I have not seen Goulding or the others play.

Surely 1st team performances come into the equation? When one guy repeatedly flops at 1st team level it's time give someone else a crack.

That's his problem, our squad is so thin and lacking in quality I am sure he has to play certain players who he would like to drop but he dosn't have a better replacement. I am also sure there are times he is selecting players who are not fully fit but have to play on a 'needs must' basis.
You could send the best coach in the world to Wakefield but in the end he would fail to deliver because of the financial constraints he would have to work within.

Agree with both these, I don't envy the job he has here at Wakefield.

I agree with both of them too up to a point, the part i can't agree with is giving a shirt to someone who does not earn it week in week out, it should be given to "if you like a lesser player" give them the chance to impress/improve.
Otherwise just what does that tell them, you can't say head down and plug away if some players are underperfoming and still getting picked.
How come dual reg is ok for some but it seems not others?

Right I have come to the conclusion you don't go to the games. All Wakey fans at the games I speak to 100% of them have said Lynn isn't upto it. Lynn needs time at Doncaster to get some confidence hes like a dear in headlights. Cowling deserves a chance.

100 percent agree re cowling, as regards going to games looking at some of comments on here suspect there's more than one that doesn't go to all the games.
How is Lynne going to get match fit and build his confidence unless he actually plays? Seems a no brainer - get hi to a feeder club !

I agree, been saying for a couple of months now, even before Lyne's drop in form that I'd like Cowling to be getting game time. I know he's been playing excellently for Donny. OK it's not SL level and Agar will know more about how he's going in training etc but this game would have been just the time to get him in.
I'm not as critical of Agar as some on here but I believe he's missed a trick with this. There would have been nothing wrong, like as been mentioned above in sending Lyne the other way to Donny. It maybe just the thing that could get his confidence and form back to where it was in those first 3 or 4 games, where he looked a real good find.
Got to giggle at the multiple spellings of Reece Lyne's name on this page.

I didn't say that I would rather have Lynne than Cowling. Quite the opposite.
I'm quite disappointed how Lynne has declined. Thought he might be good on early season form. But he isn't worth a place now.
I just don't agree that anyone should get a chance. Agar has to make his decision based on training. He cant just put people in without confidence they are good enough.
I like you haven't seen enough of Cowling but Agar has.
And I've been going to the games a loooong time.
