| Quote ="The Clan"That was never the plan, the idea is to keep the whole Guiseley set up where it is in terms of juniors, Academy, & Reserves but the senior team can not move up the leagues if they remain in there current home.
So they either accept that they've reached the ceiling or their league ambitions or they move home. Developing The stadium might offer some improvement but they are limited to what they can do and the ambitions of the Guiseley board exceeds the potential of their current ground, so they don't want to spend money to develop it.
The other factor is Leeds Utd, the thinking at Guiseley is that even if they went all the way to the Championship their crowd potential will always be hamstrung by Utds presence and strength of support. Wakefield offers the countries largest City without Football League representation and luckily for them it's not that far away when you consider it in terms of creating a new powerful Club capable of doing what Wigan have done (Wigan went from the league below where Guiseley are to the PL in just a few short years).'"
It sounds almost like the scenario with Emley FC.

So far he's been a monumental non event yet somehow his myth as saviour has grown to epic proportions. I'm still not 100% sure AG is the answer but at least he's here and doing stuff. The fantasist on here who see him as the new messiah need to give their heads a shake as he strike me as user wanting a club totally for his own purposes. If he cared for Trinity in any genuine way he'd own it by now, he's been offered it at least twice in the last 6 month - what's the problem for a man with an estimated wealth of 200 million.
I don't trust him at all, he's no Ken Davy.'"

Agreed. A football club in Wakefield will not attract any support unless it is in the Football League. Why would it otherwise? People in Wakefield, and their families, have had over 100 years to grow allegences to Leeds, Huddersfield, Barnsley, the Sheffield clubs and further afield. If they want to watch football, they don't have to go too far away.
We can see with what happened to Emley, the demise of Wakefield RFC, and with our crowds which are on the rise after years of poor attendances, the Wakefield public is apathetic to sport in the city. Guiseley at Newmarket wouldn't change that a bit.

| The differences being Emley had zero money and were playing Unibond North Premier League football.
Th Guiseley/Wakefield club would be cash rich and playing in the Conference proper or Championship2 division of the Football League.
Then there's the probability that they would be playing at Newmarket and have much closer working ties with the rugby club.

| From what I was told Parkin and Ferres walked away at the death due to the access routes in and out of Newmarket.
I was also told to watch this space ref Cas.
I have no reason to believe or disbelieve but it came from somebody who is very close to them.

| Ferres' name was definitely mentioned at the time of SP's interest, prior to administration.
Not 100% clear how he was involved, but his name was mentioned.

I think it was along the lines of if Parkin bought the club he would get Ferres to run it.

That is completely not true. Parkins involvement ended because he couldn't guarantee the big ticket items - i.e. that NM would get the decision from the PI (no one can guarantee that) or that we would definitely get a licence. He talked big to the RFL, but whether you think it's right or not, the RFL would not just 'sell' him a licence. His attitude left a little to be desired IMO and although I'd love to see that kind of money behind our club, I would be happy to see his interest elsewhere and we can finally put all this speculation to bed!

| I don't know if it was true but somebody mentioned that steve Parkin was in the audience at the first meeting on Wednesday night, Rodney Walker was in the queue just in front of me on Wednesday too. Regarding a pro football team In the biggest City in England without a pro football team then why not playing in the community stadium at Newmarket with us would make sense and as a football fan and RL fan like me I'd support them along with the mighty Trin

Sounds to me like speculation/chit chat that somehow become a fact. It may be true but I can't see it.
I don't know Parkin but I do know Steve Ferres a little. SF has many qualities I admire but I honestly think running a SL with a big budget simply isn't one of them. For me he found his level when he help lift us out of the crap post Smith and earlier when we were in NL1 . He is a fighter and a ducker and diver - brilliant at creating something from very little. He was also smart enough to smell a big fat rat in Pearman.
He's also a bit of a maverick in which there is the Steve Ferres way and no other, and from my experience that's wasn't always right. Also a very emotional and passionate bloke where RL is concerned and said it how it is just a little too often for me - that sounds good but it isn't always the the right way.
Not saying it's impossible. Just seems unlikely to me. If Parkin is all folk on here say he is and will run the club in the slick business way suggested I really can't see it working. It just doesn't sound right to me, he's not your man IMO.
That said, in the way most players deserve there big chance maybe Steve does to and he may surprise me - who knows.
Do Ferres and Parkin have a connection outside RL as a matter of interest.
JUST MY OPINION BY THE WAY.

As far as I know Parkin came close to taking the club over about October last year but couldn't get the deal from the RFL he wanted. Did the exact same when we went bust.
I agree with all you say.
The only issue I have is that although the RFL were right it begs the question as to why they have not always been so strong in the past. There is a definite double standard and I'm loathed to give them any credit for their stand on this issue due to past inconsitancies. I'd love to believe it were a purely honourable stance but I don't, whatever the RFL's motive is I don't trust or believe in them.

Can you imgaine if Mr Parkin came in for quins or crusaders. Would the RFL have guaranteed them a licence if Mr Parkin wouild have come in for them?? Certain double standards. Parkins money would have been awesome for the club but AG doing an amazing job.RFL very frustrating!!

You know I'm not a member of the conspricy peddler but I think they would. The protection they have actually received in the past is what he was asking for us. If they no longer apply that to expansion clubs then fair enough but they have in the past. Parkin is exactly the sort of person the RFL would bite the hand off to take over the likes of London or the Crusties.
Scenario for you: We actually meet criteria and get the same grading as London. The only thing that separates us is London finish below us. It would be very interesting to see who stays up, it should be us but would you bet your life on it?
