I have a plan - why don't you take responsibility for stopping the gossiping by oh... erm.. let me think ..... oh yes - stopping gossiping!!!
Respect that, until proven otherwise, the people running the club will make decisions about when is the right time to share what information they have. Further reflect on the possibility that making information public might not be in the clubs best interests.'"
A useful way to appear to 'win' an argument, is to create the illusion that your opponent occupies an absolute position, that you can then debunk.
As most people will understand from my original post however, I'm not advocating that Mr Glover reveals all the innner workings of the club or is free and easy with business critical information, to the detriment of his future plans.
There is a middle way though, and that's what I'm suggesting would be useful; to keep the stakeholders engaged, to maintain the positive vibe and to show a confident front to the RL and wider community, we have to engage in good PR.
As the modfather himself once said - this is the modern world, and like it or not, in the modern world a business has to communicate with it's stakeholders. AG has, up to now, done a fantastic job in that regard - his most recent comments about sharing a ground and such have muddied that waters a bit though, and people are, understandably, asking questions.

The problem is that, at the moment, quotes attributed to our leaders are all negative regarding our Super League future. They are starting the gossip.
So we either have no Super League future or are lulling other strugglers into a false sense of security.

I would like to know what has changed then. Cost? Availability? RFL acceptance?
My guess is the other ground is Featherstone? If so i take it we've given up on a superleague licence this time around.

| Quote ="jack in the box"Do you know I have often wondered how serious we were in the past about developing Belle Vue. Was it that we thought it could not be done or was it because we did not want to do it ,as someone has always had future plans for it that were not rugby related.'"
When SWAG first started Di showed me a load of plans that had been drawn up by various regimes through the years. Some were very impressive including the most recent that date around 2002/3.
Her argument was that including demolition cost, restricted access and a relatively small site the cost of improving BV would not paid for long term by the new stands.
She was of course making this assessment based on the fact that the club was not willing to write any monies off in the development. However an owner who was willing to lose some money could rebuild BV to a good standard, though the final capacity would be unlikely to exceeed 12,000 at best 14,000. The main planning concern would not be the buildings but the parking and transport issues. To guarantee permission the club would probably need to purchase or at least lease nearby land for parking, certainly if it went to 14k rather than 12k which is closer to the existing capacity.
My own preference has always been to redevelop BV which I think is in a fantastic position, a mile from town and two nearby train stations etc. It's failing is being hemmed in, especially on the west side of the ground. That said I still think it could be done if the RFL were to ever view the game realistically and reduce some of the utterly ludicrous requirements.

Featherstone or Dewsbury. Either way it means the club have given up on SL. Unless temporary stands are to be used The Tetley's Stadium.

Thing is though Cas are not in the brown stuff as you put it, we are actually in a better position than we have been ever before as we now have a realistic source of funding for the ground.
also the ground is only one part of the licence application, we have a youth system that is the envey of many SL clubs and it fruits are there for all to see this season, our work in local schools programe is second to none infact our application looks a very strong one to me. So if i were you i would stop worrying about what is going on at Cas and just stick to sorting out your own problems.

We have numerous plan Bs!! Some of them should be renamed, such as Plan C, Plan D etc etc, but we like to keep it simple!!

| We're both in the brown stuff in respect of our new stadia; I therefore find it rather sad that some people want to put their foot on the others head to climb out of it and save themselves, whilst consigning the other side to a decidely unpleasant end.

Welcome to the RFLs wonderful, friendly, compassionate world of Franchising.
Not exactly the Family Friendly game we are supposed to be so proud of when others failure is just as imperative as one's own success, is it?

Sorry but I have missed something here?
Please tell me why Cas are in the brown stuff?.
Look, no matter how many times we have a go at each other, by stating we have this, you don't and my dad's bigger that yours etc, the simple fact of the matter is that the decision is completely out of our hands and any theories are simply that end of. People claim to have the 'inside track', but they don't. So let's get back to talking about what happens on the field and if people have forgotten we have a game on Good Friday which will be another great encounter and a packed house, between two very very proud clubs................

For once we agree, this is not the game I fell in love with 25 years ago.
I dream of the days where winning games actually meant something.

All clubs are in the brown stuff, just look at the economy.
It's not personal but at what point could any sane person believe that the WR site is worth 50 million or that any Supermarket would want it at a 10th of that price. It's madness. God knows who owns BV but it's valued at a few million quid and it's a far better site than WR.
Cas is a small place and no offence but is hardly a prime area. It could possibly support another Supermarket but not at that price or even close.
I work for Morrisons and I can tell you know for them to bother with that site they would expect it at a knock down rate and some serious sweeteners to take it on. Supermarkets are absolutely without mercy, they are utterly predatory and simply will not pay the going rate for anything. There is no pressing reason why any of them would push the boat out for a store in Castleford - sorry.
Mr Wright is throwing the dice one more time to stall, you will be disappointed.

Possibly! As people have alluded to this is what the RFL has created.
Fans wanting (or maybe not wanting but relying?) on other clubs to fail just for their club to succeed.
Which is wrong, very wrong!

Cas havent claimed that we will be selling the ground for £50m, cas havent said anything about what they will be getting for the ground other than that it will cover the costs of getting the stadium built in one go, hence the reason why ben bailey homes have been paid off.
With regards to the size of castleford, as someone said on the cas board a town of 40k people has one big supermarket while selby (18k population) has 3, and with the size of the population of cas growing over the next decade with lots of new housing going up an already obvious demand is only going to increase.
St helens and warrington are hardly the richest of areas but entering into an agreement with a supermarket got stadiums built/building for them, so there is no reason why it shouldnt do the same for castleford.
I'm not going to make an predictions on how this will all pan out like yourself, as (like yourself) i have no idea whats going on behind closed doors, but the opinions of yourself and a few others on this thread havent made me think its any less likely that it will succeed, they have only served to remind me of how bitter and desperate a small minority of wakefield fans are for castleford to fail.

| "The club admitted that the site would be a 'ground share with a local sporting club' and that, compared to Newmarket, it was 'a very similar distance' from their home at BV."
So seeing that BV to NM (according to Google Maps) is 5.2miles, and that means that a catchment area from BV would include Featherstone, Ossett, Durkar, Old Power Station, etc... there are options to get something sorted with the right focussed team doing it.
This plan they partly talk about mentions a ground share with another sporting club - not necessarily a rugby league club though like some people have assumed. Local soccer clubs are reviewing their ground facilities what with their football league requirements, I see that Wakefield FC are looking for a ground too.
I am more than happy for them to go through the process of looking into the options privately and not disclosing details that may damage the franchise process. We should just be pleased that they are serious about getting us a good future, and that regardless of what is going on at other SL clubs, we are now a progressive club that is looking for improvements, and they are working to get a better future for us.
