| I can't believe we're talking about coaches and shake ups before the season's even started !!!
Clean slate - fresh start.
Let's get behind the players and the coaching staff and give them the support they require.

Though it was hardly a classic anyone who has supported Trinity for more than 5 minutes will know what a real abysmal season is like and 2010 wasn't.
The 1980's with it's numerous relegations. The 1990's with 3 years lost in division 2. The early 2000's with relegation escape time and time again.
Last year was not great, but abysmal....nah

why did you bring all that back up! was just getting over it and had stopped the tablets ! now its back to square one,
last season was terrible but thats because we all thought we had a good team and expected a lot better will not forgive the lack of effort by some players in the later stages of the season and the way we folded was crap .

| I'm not sure the effort was missing at the end of last season. I don't believe anybody goes to work to do a bad job on purpose, especially professional sportsmen. I think what we were missing was ability.

I would disagree, there was a definite lack of effort as well as ability (not saying from all players, but too many for us to get the results we needed)

it only takes one person and there a massive void, heads go down and the rot sets in
its like watching the lads rugby team, they are on a par with two of their closest rivals but have been beaten heavily,
until recently they now are starting to believe in their ability and that's where it has to start
each and every player has got to ask did I do enough on that field, if they come off knackered and the score line is against us then yes it's ability

I think John Kear has done a great job for us, but like all things eventually they run their course and have to move on. Yes he lost three big players last year, but is still hardly justification for the poor run in the second half of the season. He over achieved at Sheffield, won a cup at Hull but then lost the dressing room. As for the international job, well to be honest he is supposed to be a big game coach and the games don't get any bigger than Internationals. With the best players to pick from he did nothing.'"
Losing those 3 players and Brough in particular was always going to have a massive influence on the whole season. How do you conclude that he 'over achieved' at Sheffield? Every coach Trin have had in the last 30 years has lost the dressing room maybe we need to get one that's easier to find. Wayne Bennett would struggle to do anything with our international team.

If a shake up is the answer, then it has to be a clean sweep. You can't leave the head person in situ and expect better results. As for the 'There is nobody else' that's just a poor argument, there always somebody else, other teams have managed to find replacements.'"
It's not about there being nobody else it's about the right person being out there. A change for the sake of it and cheap replacement i.e Beans would be a disaster for the Club. At least in Kear we actually appointed a proper coach not just the nearest and cheapest option. Now if the club have a decent replacement lined up fair do's bring it on I'm only pro Kear while I think he's the best option we have available.

The first third of the season was good, the huddersfield thumping at home apart. But from easter monday onwards it was 3 wins out of 17, conceding an average of nearly 36 points a game. Throw in going out of the challenge cup at the first hurdle as well and thats why its seems abysmal. The last two-thirds of the season was as bad as anything we've produced since promotion in 1998 and its still fresh in the memory.

Yes losing the three players did have a massive influence, but they were not all lost together and to be fair the option was there to make two of them stay and honour their contracts. The board decided it was a good move for Brough to go and Kear is on the board.
As far as Sheffield goes you can't honestly believe them beating Wigan at Wembley wasn't an over-achievement.
I haven't in my post advocated the removal of Kear or replacing Beans with a cheap replacement. I have simply stated in response to the original post on this thread that you cannot expect to shake things up by leaving the major player in place.
As for the dressing room remark, I never said anything about losing the dressing room at Wakefield. It was well documented player power had an influence on his departure from Hull.
How do you Kear is the best option available??? How many Huddersfield fans first thought of Nathan Brown or Wigan fans thought of Michael Maguire as the right men to coach their clubs???

I have no idea who was behind the Brough deal depends which story you believe but nobody knows for sure. As I've said before if Kear made no attempt to keep him and actively wanted rid then he deserves everything he gets but I have no evidence to suggest this is the truth.

I think it was a great achievement for them, Kear and Rugby League in general and I have no desire to belittle that achievement because Wakey have had a poor season under Kear.

I didn't say you had I was referring to the traditional Wakey way of promoting the number two as the cheap option.

No you didn't but it has been mentioned that Kear has lost the dressing room at Wakey just pointing out he wouldn't be the first.

If I thought for one minute that the board had a quality young Aussie coach lined up then I'd pay for Kear's taxi myself. The fact that they had lined Jimmy Lowes up before they went for Kear suggests otherwise. I don't know if Kear is the best option I'd just rather back him until a name is linked or put forward officially that makes me think we would be taking a step forward.

I agree with everything you've said there. In my 22 years watching Trinity, Kear was the first coach we appointed who wasn't already at the club and every time we have taken the cheap option it has back-fired. I still believe Kear is the best coach for the club.

Maybe a new coach in for Beans? What do you think? When staff are there 2 long they can get complacent i am in favour of a shake up but sill stick with Kear. Some fresh blood on coaching staff.'"
First attempt at this internet mallarky but bear with me.
Do you really think that we have enough money to start sacking coaches, paying remainder of contracts and then employing new ? You are in a dreamworld mate. Uncle Rodney paid the tax bill because he has a vested interest in getting us that stadium ( that I am starting to doubt ever happening) but I cant see him bankrolling your plans.
We need a good season and hopefully an increase in support to enable us to pay our way, hard facts and not very palatable but its as I see it. I cant see where the money is coming from to pay the wages etc at the moment.
Maybe the weather has turned me into a miserable sod, but I still fear for our (and Cas' ) survival as seperate entities

| We've already had a shake up.
A shake up of players, players have gone who didn't want to play for JK/Trin and were deemed not good enough or over-the-hill.
Let's get the ball rolling - I want the season to start!
Got my new shirt today too - large. Rather snug
