Putting aside the Brough speculation I am slightly perturbed that in recent weeks the club have responded to press reports about J.K. taking the England job and again when the press reported on a financial matter relating to Terry Newton.
So far,no response from the club and the naming of another coach under contract at another club does,on this occasion,give the story a little credence.(Plus the opportunity of a rebuttal.)
I would much prefer it if J.K. issued a statement declining the job if it was offered.That would put an end to it.

Nobody on here wants to see JK go. The man has done enough for this club already but if that is what he wants then let him get on with it, he deserves that much. In the meantime all this speculation about it will not do anybody any good, if its going to happen it will, then is the time to start worrying. Fwiw I am in old McBatt's camp Agars got the job.

He, and everyone else, is totally fed up of being asked to comment on something that doesn't exist.

The guy has said that he's happy at Wakefield and that he wants to be here when we open the new stadium. He has not said that he would not be interested in the England job - how can he when he hasn't been approached and he has no knowledge of what the remit / rewards are?

Let the journalists continue to pedal their stories and let John get on with the job in hand, starting with beating Huddersfield this Saturday!

I'll rest easier when he actually says "no, I will not be taking the job".

He's never going to say that though is he, he would be daft to rule himself out completely without knowing the terms. All he’s done is laughed off the speculation and until the matter is settled that’s all any of us can do.

I just hope the RFL either see sense and open the job up on a part time basis, the international calendar does not warrant a full time coach, or they chose somebody else.

You can see the sense in a full-time coach to some degree, although as shown with Tony Smith most coaches want to be doing the "coaching" part of it all year round. But a full time coach would (in theory) lack biases towards a particular club (perhaps why we should bring over an Aussie), be able to study all teams, players and matches to make sure the best players are in contention for selection, go into club set ups once or twice a season to observe (and maybe assist if it isn't too intrusive?) and it allows club coaches to have minimal disruption to their jobs. For purely selfish reasons, I would not want Kear to leave us for the England job.
