He was always a good committed player, any goon could see that. Two years at Bradford and a bit of maturity has just added the final touch. Stop trying to wriggle out of it and just admit you were wrong.

2 games in? lets not get carried away there are about 30 to go when you throw in the challenge cup. it's way to early to make a judgment although the signs are promising

I have always rated BJ. I thought he was one of our best when he left and thought him a good buy when he returned. Thus he has nothing to prove to me. We don't suddenly have a better BJ, he was always the player he is now IMO with a little added experience and maturity. What is different this time is he is in a better team.
BJ to anyone with a brain was always going to be a good buy, no holding judgment or silly quips about the CCup required. I always knew we were on a winner with this one - not because I think he is the best H/B in the game or a player without any flaws - because he suits us and he suit JK and the team. We will injuries permitting get 2-3 good years out of this fella, what more do you want. Whether we win some silverware is a team issue not the responsibility of any one player.
OK

well he has a lot to prove to me mr clever cloggs and i will reserve judgement until he has played a full season and not gone missing for half of it. unlike you i was not overly impressed with many of BJ's performances when he was last here. having ability and putting in decent performances are 2 completely different things.
and as for being onto a winner you are talking after us being 2 games in, where's the 'winner' proof then? what you gonna be saying if he goes missing for the next ten games?

I'll put it this way. Under JK we have become quite used to being in contention for the top 6/8. We are almost expect to have point in the bag after the first few games.
No that long ago I remember us not having 4 points in the bag halfway through the season,
This with the exception of 2004 were the inconsistent teams BJ played in. IMHO all things are relative.
The team BJ finds himself in now is a whole different animal. BJ will still have off games but because others are there to take the strain we hopefully will not even notice. This is the same way Price gets away with it at Saints, some games he is invisible but he is still a start and still a player you would want. BJ will enjoy life IMO more at BV than he did last time because not all hope rest on him, when he slips Brough, Obst, Morrison or any number of others will hopefully take the strain. No more having to carry most the burden whilst trying to work miracles in some fairly ordinary teams. Even 2004 was a bit of a fluke. If he was inconsistent he was the norm for some very inconsistent teams, how inconsistent was Solomona, but he somehow got away with it.
Hope that clears it up, and I hope all the players get the support they deserve.

Nope I went to plenty of games where Bj's heart wasn't in it when it has been he is a good player. This is the same guy calling me a goon who thinks Bibb would be a star ha ha KEar obviously thinks not rather playing Hendo as a prop on Sunday. People don't listen to the fatman he knows nothing.

| Also I remember Kear dropping Jeffries in his last season for us and nobody was bothered and we played well so JK knew BJ as a inconsistent player end of the day . A sharp/fit trying jefferies is a very good player its the otherside I don't want to see. Jeffries had the ability every 1 in 4 games to rip teams apart and I mean that !

I think the thing is, a player like jeffries needs a good pack to work with. Often in his first spell at wakefield the forwards were not dominant and hence it was difficult for him to play his natural game as he rarely had the platform to do this.
This year we have a very good pack and i would think that he will be a lot more consistent and he's shown in the first couple of games how well he can play, hopefully he can carry it on.

| It's not only a better pack that will benefit BJ but also having a more dominant half-back partner. The half back partnership we now have is the best for many a year.
The attention Broughy receives will undoubtedly create more space for BJ to work in and show his true ability.

I personally reckon it is the relationship (on the pitch) with Tesco that is helping his game. They know and understand each others game and are both good enough to profit from it. Long may it continue!

| Why do people seem to feel the need to go too far either way? 4 weeks ago it was he was the worst thing since Chris Thorman, now for some it seems the only time he has ever put a poor inside ball in or failed to take on the line in the past have all been down to those around. He's not changed his name to Brian has he?
He was inconsistent before, there surely can be no doubt over that. I can accept that Rooney wasn't the ideal partner for him, nor were the pack always the best. It's a bit rich expecting the best players around you though unless you deserve it on merit; I can imagine the conversation with McNally: 'get a call up for the Australian national team Ben, and then we'll start talking about signing Peacock, Civoniceva, Cunningham, Hindmarsh and Johns'.
For me the important thing is the now and next. His confidence is up, through experience he seems to know his own game better and he's gelled with players around him - far more than I as a sceptic expected, and I salute him for that and admit my own doubts. There is a long way to go though in a three year contract. If I see anywhere near the same for the rest of the season, I'll be more than happy.

I'm assuming you are referring to my perspective. I disagree, as chances are him doing badly would imapct upon the team I support, and I like to think that is a case epicaricacy cannot apply to.
I expressed my doubts before; I cannot deny them. I didn't see the need to completely rail against his signing though. Equally now, I'm more than happy for the optimists to wallow in their predictions. I just think it gets a little over the top either way.

| Initially at the time of the signing i think some were bemused simply because we had Scott Grix who was performing well and Jeffries was inconsistent last time around.
As others have suggested the fact he's playing behind a strong pack and coupled with Brough being a dominant halve has certainly helped Ben play his game and i'd like to hope we've seen a little of what we can expect from him. Certainly that tackle on Sunday was inspirational for the team
