The understanding the rules bit was about playing the ball without being tackled, follow the thread timeline. They were lucky to get the non obstruction try, Bentham has chalked off some very similar tries as VR and as Ref, the dummy runner could have hit the gap but took out a defender. The first post, about Cas fans not knowing the rules, was actually in reference to the Cas player playing the ball after not being tackled - the Cas fans seemed ready to lynch Smith over that one



As for the obstruction I agree it was alegimate try but it highlighted the inconsistency on obstruction calls by officials. That whole area needs tightening up.

Widders is, and never was, a centre. A mistake by Matterson IMO. But injuries again dictate where we are light and so we have had to play him out of position.

He has always been on the chubby side but does possess quite a bit of speed. It's just he's used to been an impact player.
