the kids were great when we reached the mining museum I had to wait for him to catch us up, leaving you yards ahead, he had tied feet at that point and I got him to go going again to the extreme where he just ran off to the front

leaving me to plod on behind, didn't catch up with until we got to the ship pub in horbury, thanks for keeping an eye out for him Al

I thought I must have missed the announcement about the walkers, so couldn't beleive it when I saw this thread. Disgraceful !

I did wonder at full time if the players had walked with you as they certainly played like they had just done a 16 mile hike

I can only echo them sentiments Chissit. ALL of the kids were amazing. Lewis was struggling like crazy. He has heel problems as it is, but he just kept going.
The girls in their tu-tu's nicked Al's bucket and got people sticking their hands in their pockets and Al also carried on in the ground.
Unfortunately for me, once I stood, I seized up and 3 blisters, each the size of a 2p piece scuppered my walking once we got to Belle Vue.

All in all though, it was gutting that the club didn't acknowledge the walkers efforts on the day. More for you guys than anything.

why are you so surprised by our clubs efforts amateur clubs are run better, were a bloody shambles

Ponner said it all when he says walking round the pitch makes the blisters less painfull and the bonding between fans is awesome.
All I have to say is Trinity are at the mo' a total disgrace in the P.R. dept.

Well done to all who walked true heroes in my eyes.

A little of the blame will have to be Aim at ME for not making sure the CLUB knew we were doing this walk & because i took it for granted, There did not have it down on there daily schedule for Sundays half time slots hence why there did not let us Completely gutted for all the kids you were so excited about walking around the pitch,I will certainly make sure the next 2 walks that HUDDS who are usually great with us know & of co the Cas to Wakey walk on July 26th.

Don't blame yerself Mick, with all due respect to anyone at the club, I don't wish to stir up a hornets nest, they have known for at least 3 months, from the contact that I have had with 2 people there.
Just feel I need to make this fact known.

I can remember other events in which we was let down, that night at the club when for brennan rooney not one player turned up,

you have organized the walks what little that the club can do has been lost in their thoughtless actions or non actions.

give you another for instance stanley rangersunder 11s got the wildcats trust to sponsor us, all publicity was lost on sponsored training session two players turned up and wanted to leave early one came with his kid, there was food laid on for the players so the kids could meet them after, but no they all left.

and yes I will walk with you again, can't be that bad going the other way

it's all about recognition of the effort put in you pr1ck and keeping the fund alive and in the public eye.

I totaly agree and don't wish that to happen, don't really agree with that word anyway, some recognition for the younger ones would have been suffice.

I was hoping to see the walkers at the match to hand over my sponsor money to Ponner & Reidy. Really disappointed they didn't stagger past us on a lap of the pitch....catch you at the next game.

I saw Reidy leaving the ground, looked like he'd given birth to twins. Ponner did not seem too bad.

You are exactly right to vent your feelings mate. Specially a walk for Watene who gave his all for the club and the club can't repay it just by a simple greeting and thank you. Utter disgrace same with the youth players from stanley rangers they coudln't be bothered totally unproffessional when they came for a look around so they signed for Cas instead we really do need to get or acts together!

I think fozzie worded it a bit harshly, the wakefield fans having given generously time and time again, and they probably will do again, you can only go to people a so many times before they get tied of being asked.
the walk around would of presented a new opportunity for fans from another club to show their appreciation to their fellow fans that walked as well, so if there's a walk around the galpharm you don't need to applaud the efforts of the kids if you don't want to that's your choice.

but also wouldn't be nice to rekindle the passion that the club had at the start of the season

I was fine mate. We even took the dog for a walk around Pugney's today wearing my Giants shirt.

Big thumbs up to everyone I met on the walk - nice to put faces to names.

When we got to BV I was cream crackered, went in to cats bar only to be faced with a huge queue for the bar so the two girls and me just went to sit in a corner. When it came to KO (that means knock-out as well as kick off!) we were in too much pain to stand, explained this to a steward outside the seats and she managed to get us a free transfer so we could sit down - a thousand thanks for that!

BUT --- to not offer free entry to the Hudds fans and the Leeds fan who came with us was stinginess worthy of Ebenezer Scrooge himself. I left the ground yesterday ashamed of the management of our club and ashamed of the team. Huddersfield are showing WT how it should be done, but our club seem incapable of following.

Well done to the Hudds fans as well- a good turnout from them.
