| Adam,
Yes its a poor run of form. Not sure about a slump (lost a few on bounce) but its the same players who have put us 6th in the table (we were predicted to finish bottom) above Hull, Wigan, Bulls, Warrington and Catalan.
My point is its the same players who got us here. Did we really expect we would keep winning constantly? Loosing is part of the game.
Sure if we were down the bottom of the league again and playing with no effort I may agree its time to look at the players.
My take is that some of them are knackered and should be dropped/rested. I personally want Rooney to be brought in for another chance for some competition. He and Brough play well together, from memory!

Yeah it is the same players that got us off to a great start to the season but when we lose a few games it's not all going to be happy days on a forum is it.

| Your right not happy days but not bad enough days to suggest we get rid of players who IMO have played brilliantly so far and are going through a blip.
Short memories. I am still buzzing from Hull and Cas away!

Yeah I don't agree with the let's get shut of him and him etc.
But certain players have been poor and more so than others so bound to get a mention. I am sure it will go back to all the good threads soon

im not gonna have a pop clan as you are a very level headed poster i do however believe this to be knee jerk to the last few games .
we have lost twice to a form side in wigan (my pre season tip to win SL)
plus edged out by Bradford at murrayfield , the team who the week before had beaten Saints.
Come on we are all very disappointed but to give up on the team is unfair and the players you have mentioned to get rid of is IMHO bewildering.
We will come good again

This is no comment on Griffin himself, but as long as while they are at the club they give 100% every game and every training session, I couldn't care less that they'd rather play for someone else, or go somewhere else to get regular first team rugby.

We already have a squad of about 26 players, we will not be able to bring anyone in unless some are allowed to leave.
I hav'nt gone as far as checking who's got how long on contract but its my opinion which isn't formed over the course of three games, I have a little bit more oil in my lamp than that!

Wakefield Trinity have a squad..... we may not be the strongest squad....we may not be the most skillfull squad but we are a damn tight knit squad who put there heart into most games.... i say most because even the greats have bad games!!!! but we as supporters are as much a part of Wakefield Trinity Wildcats as those who walk the field wearing OUR colours maybe we should support them whatever!!!! most do but alot just bitch!!!!
Rant over'"
First of all no ones been slagged off!
As far as the squad goes, it needs improving.
We lost Adam last year, Duncan retired, Ferres & Golden went elsewhere and we only signed Snitch and Stosic.
Other clubs moved forward in big strides and will do the same at the end of the season we will need to do the same.
There's no standing still in this game you either improve or go backwards.
We were lucky last year to have Pitts, Bibb, Murphy who helped bolster the squad but we don't have the luxury of 4/5 Academy lads mauring this year so we need to make room for new signings.
Thats not Knee jerk, its not turncoat
Its Sport!

Interseting post and I agree with much of it.
1. Tony Martin not mentioned but he will be going at the end of the season anyway.
2. Scully and Rooney also have their contracts up this year, both big earners I suspect. Over their time have they given us value for money ?
3. Drew is on about playing on for another year, time may not be on his side.
4. JD still another year after this, I think he is really pushing his body to the limit right now, but JD being JD will give 110% as long as he can.
Looking at your 'buys' the stand out one for me that you have missed is
Dave Halley (contract up this year). The guy really put it in for us. Take him over Peto any day of the week.

Easy really!
One is almost 30 years old and takes up an over seas space while being paid a decent contract the other is a 22 year old English prospect on a much smaller wage.
Both have been unlucky with injuries but on balance unless Petersen begins to show the form he had at Gold Coast I would be looking to replace him. I think he has a contract for next year as well so he'll probably stay.

Thank You for seeing my post for what it is!
Tony Martin, He's been good this year so far and if he were to continue with his present form I would want him to stay.
JD as I stated is almost a legend, He still gives everything in each game but as you said his body is almost 34 years old and I'm not sure how much more top flight football he has left.
I would rather he went out on top of his game than have one season too many.

| Quote ="Walrus"Dont agree re Demitriou, Drew and Obst.
Demitriou is consistantly our harderst worker and often turns the game by putting in extra effort when heads are down. He is also a great player consistantly coming up with great performances in support play, gaining ground and getting obver the line.
Drew can and often single handidly turns a game.
Obst puts in great effort tackles well above his size and we look a better team creativly when he is on.
Its a shame that when a few results go against us we start doing this to our players. Some of the other 'bigger clubs' would love to be where we are in the table and have some of our players.
These negative threads about players did not appear until 2-3 weeks ago. Did we expect to win every single game?'"
Fair points Walrus, I sincerely hope that you are not Shaun McRae.
See above post about JD.
Obst and Drew both have their merits and you make a good case for Obst but I want us to move forward as a team and unfortunately we need more from the overseas players than we often get.

Adam!
I'm sure you've seen enough posts to know that I'm not just reacting to recent losses.
To some of the others,
We are all supporters of Trinity thats why we come on these boards.
Some have been supporters for five minutes some of us have been involved for decades, (34 years in my case).
I measure my opinions based on my knoweledge of the game, fine if you don't agree just ignore me or enter a proper debate.
However some of you need to buy a rah rah skirt and try out for the cheerleaders squad.
I wear the colours, go home and away, support the lads at every game, never booo, never walk early whatever the score, I've done lots more with and for Wakefield Trinity, My point being that I understand the passion behind blindly supporting the team but we need to improve thats the harsh reality of sport.

John Kear works with these players almost every day, He supports them personaly and professionaly, he knows their family's and I'm sure he counts them all as friends to one degree or another . . . .
Do you really think that he does'nt sit down on a regular basis and plan who he's going to let go and who he wants to replace and with whom?
It's not about friends, supporters and the rest it's about moving the club/team onward.

I think most sensible supporters agree with that and the people that run our club definitely agree.
It was discussed at the shareholders meeting hence the new share issue which is for the purpose of strenthening the team.
The point is Clan, Wakefield will get the team it deserves and unless we can get to the full cap spend we will always be a disadvantaged club.
The Catch 22 is that the wider public will not get of their s to come and support us and without the extra support that we need we can't fund the team that the wider public would turn out to support.

| get rid of JD, come on lets get serious. JD is in top 3 tackle busts in super league, top 15 tacklers in super league and is one of our leading metre makers. Our middle got murdered yesterday and imo we massively missed Jd and fergy work rate in the middle. Moore, pitts bibb, and scullthorpe are all lazy defenders this whu it was so easy to spot drew and obst over and over again. our front row got bullied and yet when jd came in field he had no problem making yards.
imo jd has been a rock in the middle of the field for us and when we had injuries has covered hooker, stand off, second row, centre and loose forward.
yesterday he looked good at centre then we decided not to give anymore ball, but what did Jd do went looking for work.
We all have opinions but mine are backed up by facts.

While all you write is true, some won't see it that way because, in their minds, Demetriou will should play forever for this club and always be in a job. It is sport, as you say. It is a harsh business, and even if he's done this, that and the other after the tragic events....we have to put out a team week in, week out who can compete at the highest level.
Too many times in the past we've offered players one contract too many out of sympathy....sometimes the best for all, before the memories are tarnished, is to just say goodbye.
