| Quote ="lampyboy"The crossrail project in Londons provided work for thousands of northerners over the last 8 /10 year sand when crossrail 2 gets the go ahead thousands more will be provided with employment for another 10 years.
With regards to hospitals I don't have an opinion either way but it does seem a shame that such contracts can not be provided via public money.
London will always attract investment its falling down, and needs big projects like the crossrail and thames tideway just to keep it going.'"
Wow!
The idea that the hugely imbalanced per head spend on transport in London vs the North, is justified because a few northerners get a job is just bonkers!

The differance is thats its estimated that the crossrail project will 1 pay for itself in 6 years and also provide funds for crossrail 2
2 Provide a quick link from west to east london
Thames tide link quite simply must be done to provide an up to date system. It will be paid for via an increase in rates.
It helps to have at least a small ammount of information before spouting off I also didnt say it was justfied because it provided work for a few northerners . It provided thousands of northerners in full time employment for yearsin not only the constuction trades but also in security , admin, catering, training and plant.
Hundreds of norther companies tendered and won contracts
Bonkers probably better explains your dated ill informed attitude .

The majority of labour on the major projects in the south of England are east European. This started with the Olympic Games project. All major projects in Britain usually involve independent sub contractors , the normal rates were substantially reduced by cost cutting by east European labour. Brexit anyone?

| From personal experience you would just not believe the amount of millions that were thrown down the drain by West Yorkshire Police just to satisfy senior officer's' personal vanity. It was absolutely criminal (ironically). I'm sure it's the same in a lot of other public areas.

| It would appear that the club have been royally shafted by all of this
Thinking of the two sites, I would say that most fans would prefer the Belle Vue development over Newmarket, but should situations arise, the plans could well be restrictive.
As for Newmarket, it isn't everybody's cup of tea, as it is a bit out of the way for some, but on the other hand, I feel there could be a bit of scope should the situation require it.
Reading back on some comments earlier in the week regarding other towns and cities sports facilities, the Barnsley ground isn't new, but has had a few developments in the 90s to bring it into line and Hull KR moved into their stadium in 1989, barely new, but again, upgraded bits at a time as and when they could and needed to.
One other thing, I read a few weeks ago, that the owner of OSsett Albion had huge ambitions of turning them into a professional club. Now I don't follow football as closely, and don't know how realistic this is, but how many tiers are they off, say League Two. Their current ground wouldn't accommodate the capacity requirements, so I can only see a groundshare as a viable option, with us waiting so long for a stadium, can't see the council approving another stadium in such a short space of time.
However, should this happen, and they go pro, and they progress even further like what Wimbledon did in the 80's, would either NM or BVs capacity accommodate them.
With potential of further revenue streams from visiting football teams, nearly twice as many games in a domestic football season, and with the FA probably having more oomph than the RFL, this could put huge pressure on WMDC and York court to deliver

They’ve already got plans to level and re lay the pitch , also changing, club house and hospitality facilities.

As have the council tax payers of the District; YCP have been gifted a development worth 10's of £millions, without so much as attempting to even vaguely hop in the general direction of the hoops they should have been robustly forced to jump through by WMDC; and we've ended up with a half-d semi-fix for the stadium situation, that will benefit yet another wealthy business man, to the detriment of the club.
And let's not forget, despite that fluffy press release, we are absolutely nowhere nearer to a redeveloped BV than we were in the minutes before it was written.
It's an absolute fudge, and even if it does happen, it's the worst possible outcome, that misses out the proposed training area and multi-sports facilities that would have benefited amateur sports clubs, not to mention the parking and accessibility problems that do and always will plague BV.

| I really do hope that Wakefield are able to secure their long term future. In the meantime though credit to the petrol station that donated its forecourt roof to provide a little extra shelter down that south west corner.
