| Quote ="Fordy"I guess what they could do with is someone to provide some community sports facilities that could be maintained by a community trust for the benefit of the Wakefield community.
If only there was some way of doing that, maybe by getting a developer to build those facilities in return for getting planning consents approved - an S106 type agreement??'"
I know. Unbelievable all this. We know all about Box..it just beggars belief that an authority can me so disinterested in promoting a major club in a major northern sport, even in by using it's ability to facilitate and enforce the deal your refer to.
I also get frustrated by how little the fans of other clubs know or understand about our predicament. I hear and see negative comments about us and I gnash my teeth knowing how we have been badly shafted by the parties you refer to.

| Quote ="Eastern Wildcat"Did anyone hear Michael Carters interview on Radio Yorkshire yesterday.
He was saying that they aren't asking the council for money to build a stadium, they just want whats been promised to them. In view of that, someone said earlier about finding £20m, forgive me if I have misinterpreted that, but to me that sounds like funding isnt an issue, and the funding is in place.
Given light of the situation, couldn't the RFL add weight to our case here, as the sports governing body.
He also mentioned minimum standards being brought in, which, is fine, but also seems ironic to have been brought in, the same season Toronto have come into the league. Further more, part of the minimum standards is having crowds of 6,500, maybe if the only games on a Thursday/Friday, were the televised ones. Our average crowd last year, that I read, was something like 4,993, but pprior to all the re scheduled fixtures, we were close to the 6,000 mark'"
Good luck with the 6500 criteria. That is a ridiculous proposal. All sorts of external factors, particularly economic ones, can affect that. It would be grossly unfair to exclude teams in deprived areas because their fans can't afford the prices!

I agree. And if the Council had half a brain, this should have been the solution they promoted. I wrote to the Express and was published saying this in 2006. So we are too proud to do this but Milan football clubs et al, it's good enough for them? The council could have provided some free land at a compromise site that offered roughly equal distance changes for a shared stadium. This might have been a very good solution for us and Cas

We are not asking the council for money though. Only adhering to the 106 agreement.

| I'd prefer Dewsbury as its closer but suppose it's what's the best deal for us. I have no affinity with any of the WMDC small towns and they don't with us.

To be honest I regard the move as a fresh start and a great opportunity.
Are you supporters or what?'"
Get real Beagle. A very large majority on this forum obviously get behind the team, and are TRUE supporters: after all it's OUR team. Like you I have been a supporter over 60 years and seen the really good times and bad times. Didn't know you could actually buy rose tinted spectacles though.
Can you not see that whether we go to Dewsbury, Fev, Barnsley or even Odsal they are only TEMPORARY homes? We cannot go on ad infinitum without a permanent home. Those at Red Hall will just not allow it.

So you think moving out of BV would be temporary?
So who's gonna shell out for a £15M new build stadium? Unless 88M are gonna refurb BV and from what I can see that doesn't appear to be on the cards, then as soon as we move to our new temporary home, the lights will be turned off and demolition will start. There will be absolutely no turning back.
I really hope I'm way off the mark but don't really see it.

No JINGER, I don't think think moving out of BV would be temporary. On the contrary. What I'm saying is that wherever we go it will only be a temporary home until we have to move on to another temporary home. It will only be allowed to carry out this nomadic life until we have to pack in altogether or move to another part of the country and operate under a new identity. the beagle doesn't seem to be able to accept this.

Have a look at the "Belle Vue Bromance" video on skysports website. Substitute Miller with Rodney Walker and put that Yorkcourt Mackie guy in place of Sam Williams. You'll get the picture then.
Arona then comes across to represent Peter Box.

would be ok on a temporary basis with a return to Wakefield in a new stadium nailed on.
That seems unlikely, so, as you say, very sad. It's very hard to foresee a future for the club as we know it.

| Why would the Rugby League object to two of its members ground sharing? Clubs share with football clubs.
If MC is reading some of this stuff he will probably just feel like walking away .
Yeah it's desperately sad , all I am saying is let's try our best to make wherever we locate to work.
If we do not give it our 'best shot ' we will never know .
Defeatism breeds defeatism.

| Its interesting to compare the NRL model where the authorities don't want suburban grounds, but would rather move all fixture to big stadiums... fewer and fewer clubs are able to sustain their traditional base... particularly in this day and age where such a small portion of the fan base actually 'walk up" to the stadium.
last season the sharks would have been prevented from holding any play off games at their own stadium! regardless of their position at the end of the regular season.
Maybe we should be actively transient... play some games at Elland Road... some at Barnsley some at Doncaster etc. In real terms the distances are insignificant, and as long as the training is local and community/ commercial facilities are in the city it would be workable.
One closing comment... do we love our parents less because they no longer live in the traditional family home we were brought up in?
Do we no longer visit and have fun?
Maybe we could be mould breaking rather than constantly being judged for trying to fit in!!

We love them just as much. However since they moved house it is more difficult to visit and see them as often as we want to.
When the ground was owned by BoI people referred to some covenant which said the ground couldn't be used for any other purpose than rugby until Trinity had a new permanent home in Wakefield (latest incarnation being Newmarket). Does anyone know if this covenant still applies since the ground was sold on?

It wasn't a covenant as such but a planning condition that was last linked to the now lapsed application for housing that BV had on it. These can be applied to be removed on future apllications and us voluntarily moving out of the ground (and the area if we turn down Fevs offer) would strengthen the chance of that happening. From memory the last condition specifically mentioned Newmarket. The last time it was tried to be removed a few years back part of the reason it was refused was that theoretically Newmarket could still likely happen within the timeframe of its own planning application. Thats not the case anymore. And to that changes in government policy meaning Sport England being less vociferous in these matters nowadays and i doubt the owners would have a great deal of trouble getting it removed.

I don't know TBH.
However nothing stopping you organising one - via here or facebook and twitter - don't reckon it would take much.
Personally I'd suggest blockading Newcold - Mr Yorkcourt won't like that and it's about time he got the message. Again just a suggestion but food transportation is time sensitive and even modest delays can become an issue - awkwardly parked cars are always a nightmare but not necessarily illegal
