like mentioned by al stories conflict and before anyone quotes what he said in his interview it would be quite sensible to say that i would love to play for Leeds other than to say i have no choice.
more worryingly is we have let him go bibb as gone as to rooney can you see a trend?

Not many young players playing back to back SL at his age and capable of holding there own out there.
Of course not, that should never happen with a young player who may or may not take the next step up.
Anyway last my last post on this subject.

| There does need to be some perspective here. As many have said, if he wanted to go, what can the club do?
He's not as good as Nigel Wright was when the club sold him, or Henry Paul when we couldn't keep hold of him. Bradford 'lost' Atkins to us, Wigan 'lost' Gleeson, Huddersfield 'lost' George.
It's swings and roundabouts - he could turn out to be a world beater, he could be at Batley in two years time.
He's gone. C'est la vie!

| Do you know what - I am fed up of people getting too close to the players and not allowing the time to think things through from the perspective of running the business of a SL club.
I am taking stick here for supporting the club - but I can only say what I've been told, whether people want to believe that is for them to decide.
We, as a club (that includes us) are wishing, hoping and working for a better club. Despite what people think from the outside, and despite our obvious and many faults, we are moving forward. The club, in this thread alone, has taken some stick for a singular decision - yet elsewhere on this forum we are trying to get folk onto the academy bandwagon! This academy that shows quite clearly the forward thinking nature of the club. Unfortunately there is a time lag - and in the meantime we are still a small club, with a crappy ground and low income. When we get a 10,000 crowd in we get slated for the poor access and viewing, hence people don't come back in droves. When we get a small crowd in it must be because the marketing / pricing / whatever is all wrong.
I get truly fed up with the half-empty view suggesting that we must have rolled over and died to have lost Pitts, but what was he - a genuine fringe player who's form was not good enough to warrant a first team place and who's supported team was Leeds! Well now he's got them and they've got him - and we've got some cash that will go into the pot to help us survive and replace him with another crop of young talent who might, just might, want to play for Wakey.
I will not post on this matter further as my views, clearly based on the clubs principals, are not popular.
I am sorry that I am not a member of the old supporters club, nor do I travel on the 'fun bus'. I have chosen my path and that is to work for, and on behalf of the club. If that has offended someone - sorry!

To be honest I think many people can see the common sense in what you say. However, there will always be those who seem to reveal in lamenting certain decisions the club makes. I can remember when Paul White chose Salford over Trinity as they offered more money people were equally critical of the club. PAUL WHITE FFS.
Out of all the decisions the club has made over the past two-three years with retaining or releasing players they had a choice in I think only Peter Fox is the one the got away.

phil as im sure you know (and i know you will read this) different people get different conflicting info from different people connected with the club . sometimes you just have to accept that although you have been told one side of a story that the horses mouth is normally the correct account.
one story says humpty fell another thinks he was pushed
weather jay goes on to get regular first team or goes platinum gaining GB honours is irrelevant in this case and just because he supported leeds as a boy is tosh the fact is that we have sold something that last week we did not need to buy but now needs replacing with another frank sideline or sideline bob or im always sick to play huddersfield type player.
not to sure if you watch the academy games but rest assured its a fantastic feeling to see lads mature from the 18s and breaking into sl , yes we are a small club and as true as i sit here i would much prefer it if we kept the likes of pitts and got rid of journey men because they have truly earned the right to wear the strip and thought tooth n nail to get it.
opinions vary phil , i disagree with your angle on this but respect your opinion

Agreed, and I don't think I was refering to any poster in particular (I see posts and opinions rather than names!), some of our supporters can be very frustrating!!!
(And it's very amusing, over the years, to see how 'pally' some were with McNally say, then slag him off as soon as someone better came along!)

| TRB is correct in all that he says on this subject.
We can thank our lucky stars that Leeds have only got their hands on Pitts. How the hell you are supposed to stop the buying power of Leeds I just do not know. Some posters on here must be brilliant sales people if they think they could have done any better than John Kear and the rest of the board.
Leeds do not have to offer players massive money, they offer slightly more money, sometimes less money and the promise of the best training facilities, play off football every year, cup finals etc etc. Ellis went for less money than we were offering.
This time around Leeds came, they saw but for a change they did not win every battle, they left ( may come back ) with only one of the three players they wanted. John Kear and the team managed to promote the rugby club to the other two, and the board resisted the massive leeds cheque just to roll over, not an easy thing to do. I mean why would a player not want to play for Leeds or a St Helens.
It is a tough battle for clubs like us to keep our players. Just go and watch our under 18`s. I went to the home game against Hudds. there was a bigger than usual crowd as Leeds, Wigan, Bradford, Saints, Huddersfield, Warrington and Hull KR all sent ` scouts ` to look at our boys. I mean Trinity at the top of the Under 18`s `league, we can`t have that they do not have a youth set up, lets go and sign their players. Thats not the end of it as it turns out that the agents have started to notice our young boys. They have a job to do I know but one agent has approached 8 of our under 18`s and offerd to represent them for free for two years if they sign with him for 5 years. He told all of them not to sign the contracts we had offered them and said he had a club who would take them for more money. So you have to think that the club in question is a bit concerned by there youth policy and has got said agent to do a job for them. I understand that 3 or 4 of those boys told the agent to sling his hook and have signed with us, no doubt we will loose a couple, but thats life.
So how the hell would you have kept Pitts. We put a contract to him, he did not want to sign it. No doubt John Kear valued him as a player but has to work within our wage structure and budgets, maybe Leeds offered him more money, I doubt it, I think a deal between Pitts and Leeds will have been agreed ages ago, and no matter how much tweaking of our offer was done would not have made the slightest bit of difference.

| FFS The club have been trying to sign Jay all season and he chose Leeds. He is a young kid with his career infront of him and made his choice. When Wakey supporters ask him why he is leaving he may think he has some how let us down and obviously said things like ' I love Wakefield and I want to play for them but I have been forced to leave'. He isn't going to say ' I am not bothered who I play for I will do the best for myself. I have the chance to join a better club for more money'

What gets me is how many of the biggest moaners on here go out of their way to help the club bring in that little bit more income so that we have a bit more clout financially?
Simple things ...
Buy your away match ticket at the Club, we then get 10% of the money.
Travel to away matches with wisca where all profits go back to the Club rather than on 'the Fun Bus' which deliberately undercuts wisca and nothing goes to the Club.
Join the Lottery which costs £1.50 per week and you might actually win something as well.
etc.. etc.. many other easy ways to help, a lot of small amounts soon add up to make large amounts

Quite frankly I'm sick of the stupidity peddled on these forums. Sure folk are entitled to an opinion, but freedom of speech has never been about the right of people to peddle idiocy as fact. This mentallity of "I say what I like and I like what I bl**dy well say" is destroying our club IMHO. It's fine to do it to other fans, trolling whatever you call it, it is all part of the banter but to continually bad mouth your own club for things totally out of it's control just baffles me.
All the moaners on here should show their hand IMO, have they ever run a RL club? If so names and dates please. Tap room gossip is fine and I have no issue with that except when it's dressed up as fact which it rarely is. Running a club is very complex and very few on here ever know the full story, personalities, financial pressures, square peg in a round whole etc etc - it's never as simple as it's painted on here.
We are one of poorer SL clubs but by no means the poorest at present and whilst we can cope with the rest due to good management we can't resist the real big clubs who are currently Saints and Leeds. It's not just money it's about success - and against these two we will always struggle.
Instead of continually moaning just be thankful because it could have been worse and I wouldn't have been surprised to see Snitch (and it was definitely on), Atkins and Ferguson at Headingley next year.
If you all listen to this poster and posters like TRB and PB and you should, they tell you all you need to know even if it's not what folk want to hear.

| So Mutts are you saying that Jay Pitts told you that Wakefield did not offer him a contract. If yes I am happy to telephone Jay and invite him to state this in public, lets say the Wakefield Express.
If you have been told by someone other than Jay that he was not offered a contract by Wakefield then that would be a different tale.
I have nothing against players moving on but we must realise that often we try our very best to keep them and then here from reliable sources that they were not wanted.
Again I confirm that if Jay told you directly that he was not offered a contract then I will telephone him and ask him to go public.
