| Brett Hodgson - Has almost single handedly dragged Hudds to a whole new level (Nathan Brown accepted).
Adrian Morley - Has defied many sceptics and put consistant high level performances in even when Lowes was in charge.
Jason Demetriou - Against the odds and with the weight of the clubs grief to contend with he has been a superb talisman. Wakefields play off campeign might determine his chances of winning.
Olivier Elima - Multiple MotM awards and a bagfull of tries, his performances have often been eye catching in some off form showings from his team mates.
Clint Greenshields - Superb consistancy all year and always hard to contain.
Michael Dobson -Lynchpin of a very successful HKR season, he has stood out in every aspect (Kicking , Organising, Try Scoring, Leadership).

| To be fair, i think from what i have seen Keith Mason this season has been as good as any forward in the League. He is a big part of laying the platform for the likes of Crabtree, Hodgson, Robinson & Brown.
He seems to have cut out alot of the penalties he was giving away early on in the season and is playing very well.
Admittedley we were poor but he was excellent against us at Belle Vue when they battered us. Like i say i dont see him every week but when i have he has impressed. I bet there arent many props who have played as many mins as him, 'very' aggresive in defence and willing to hit it up whenever required.
I would have had him on my original list but just dont think he is high profile enough to win it.
Maybe a prime example of why we should try and stick with Kyle Bibb. Graham aside, props really dont come good until mid/late twenties having said that Fielden seems to be doing it the other way round!!

Him and Crabtree were excellent at their ground as well. Fair point about relating it to Bibb, although I think Mason showed a bit more drive when he was with us than Bibb did.

As I've previously stated JD deserves the games recognition for the weight he has carried not only for our club but that of the whole game.
He has represented and epitomized the values of life, the family, and the community of rugby league as an whole. Then to step out onto the pitch and still perform to the highest levels shows the metal of this man.
Isn't all above what a Man of Steel should represent in our game?
So suspend all betting there's only one winner this year.

I think it is probably harder to make a case for him on the pitch this year than previously.

| No stand-outs in regular season, and so I think the play-offs will determine it, and so my shout is for Senior, as they might give it to him to equate as a lifetime achievement award

| Why on earth do people keep suggesting JD should be in consideration for MOS?
It's awarded to the person judged to have been the best player of the season - that means they'll have made plenty of ground with the ball, scored a few tries themselves & set plenty up for others along with making a huge amount of tackles and seeming to be all over the park no matter where the ball is.
If there was an award for the player demonstrating honour, respect for his team mates and playing with courage then JD would be odds-on favourite, but he's not even been Wakefield's best player this year let alone the best player in SL.
For the sake of a sensible debate on MOS please please please can we stop talking about JD as a contender.

Yes and No.
Maybe this is the answer then.
The Mike Gregory Spirit of Rugby League Award - Both players and non-players are eligible to receive the award, which will be judged by a panel from the governing body.

I may be unpopular on here (well that's a given! ![Shocked icon_eek.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_eek.gif) ), but I would vote for him. I reckon he's a fantastic player - still - and his career deserves it as well.
Sorry I'm not towing the party line on this one - but let us please not give it to a one minute wonder - which Roby was when he won it! ![Confused icon_confused.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_confused.gif)

Although he deserved it in the season he won it.
Matt Gidley is another possible. I'm a big fan of Gidley. Not a glamorous centre, but he does the job perfectly. You only have to look at how often Gardner gets the ball two yards from the line with just gravity doing the rest of the hard work.
The play-offs will be interesting, to see whether someone emerges out of the pack.

NO,NO, NO Trent Barrett was the stand out player all season, Roby only started in 9 games in league and cup.
I also stated that I would vote for Keith senior for this years MOS the last time a post like this was posted some 8 weeks ago.

I'm with Martin on this one - how Trent Barrett didn't win it that year was amazing. The best player by far - and with an average side! ![Wink icon_wink.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_wink.gif)

| But Barrett was hit and miss. Game changing when on his game, but there were too many games when he wasn't on his game. At Belle Vue, for example.
I know what you mean about Gidley and my comment about him being unglamorous. What I meant was that he arrived at Saints to fill Lyons boots and he didn't have all the fancy tricks, but for solid and consistent textbook centre play, Gidley is it.

He and Locky were the only Wigan players to show up that day.
Barrett was the finest 6 i have seen in SL. He played in an average team whose coached pretty much wasted his talent with his tactics and he was still by far the best player in the comp and in my opinion in that season the best player in the world.
