Absolutely correct. I'd have him back in a breath myself.

| No disrespect to JK, but I think SL Supermen has run it's course; all the genuine 'supermen' were done ages ago and now they're a bit short of options.
The addition of Sam Tomkins to the 'team' as a way of increasing his salary so he wouldn't flounce off to Union, further undermines it as a credible RL show; it's not for me.

Don't agree there. Still enjoy it and liking the older guys coming on.
And I'm surprised how good Tomkins is.
Breath of fresh air for rugby league.

| I wanted JK as head coach mainly as i believed he would improve our defence, and initially he did. He lead us with dignity through a very troubled time on and off the pitch and i doubt anyone else could have got as much out of some of the players as he managed.
That said, it was time for JK & WTW to move on, both needed a fresh start and regardless of who we got to replace him the move was the correct one. Would JK have won more games thus far than RA? Definitely! But, under JK in most seasons, our back end of the season was filled with thumping after thumping.
RA probably isn't the answer, but neither was JK. Both have or had a tough job, but what Kear has always had in his locker is the ability to motivate, inspire and fill players with confidence. That is what were desperately lacking in my opinion, and it can only come from RA as the head coach.

| Agar shoudn't be looking at players credentials, he should be looking at attitude form and ability, he has had long enough now in my humble opinion to have sorted out this lot and be looking at a settled team of players who want to stay at W. Trinity and want to work hard and show pride in the jersey which they wear.

| I think JK did fantastic things for the club as coach but it became stagnant towards the end of his reign as his ideas were becoming dated and predictable and we had limited resources for him to play with. We were too small to play good "completion" rugby league (ie. 5 drives and a kick, more or less how Bradford beat us this season so it can be done well). We couldn't make the yards, tired quickly and made mistakes, but that's the style of hard-working rugby that JK valued.
Kear's former assistant Mr Agar, as others have pointed out, can't motivate a side like Kear could. So we have the odd situation now of having a better "on paper" squad who in fact couldn't bust out of a paper bag because the coach can't fire them up enough for it. Case in point, Johnson was pulling up trees last year and is struggling now and it's likely all in the mindset.
Hull had some excellent players who underperformed throughout his reign as their head coach. Looks like we're doomed to three years of the same. None of us wanted him, even those of us who were willing to give him the chance to prove himself in a new environment. If things improve dramatically on the field under Agar over this licence period, I'll buy him a year's supply of Haribo myself.

| i have not watched the programme yet, but i do know that we needed a change in coaching at the end of last season. we were very predictable.
however any change in coach should be for someone better. i am not an agar fan, and probably never will be (i know he is more knowledgable than i gave him credit for, but i do think he is lacking in other areas)
with the number of coaches available at the time of kears departure we were all excited about getting someone who could take us forward. most people wanted a change, but if asked at the time would not have changed for agar!!

| It wasn’t a change so much I was after, but an extensive review on who was available and for the best man to be selected for the job, if that just so happened to be John Kear then so be it. Some might say that this would’ve been insulting to Kear but considering he had applied for a number of jobs at other club during his time with Trinity I felt the club would’ve been more than in their moral right to explore this avenue.
Personally I don’t think we got a better option in Agar, however, a team of Kear with Agar as his number two might have gone well. It’s clear to see Agar does know his stuff when he speaks about the game and the way this lot have played, predominantly earlier on in the season, shows that he can get them playing an expansive game, however I don’t think he is someone who can get the best out of his players consistently.

| I got shot down for suggesting we should have kept Kear in the pre season, can't say I'm surprised to see people moaning now though. Sending Andy Ellis out on loan is just madness, I know I'm not a professional coach but I think it's safe to say he shouldn't be playing national league rugby.
Kear built a top side before Brough/Tronc/Newton left the squad, we finished 5th the season before, then it was downhill and Kear had little to no resources on hand. Obviously I'm still fairly bitter about the whole situation, Agar needs to show us something soon.

Do you ever think before you post?
Yes the team last year lacked ability but not passion or not until the last part of the season - that team on occasions ran it's blood to water - that is why we didn't finish bottom. Get a grip.

| I was always a massive Kear fan and would have liked us to have kept him on.
I would have liked to have seen who Kear would have bought with the spending spree we had when Kear went to rebuild the team and how he would have motivated them.
IMO we were always performing better than we should have been with him in charge (motivation?) apart from the sticky tape squad at the end and perhaps we are now seeing how we should be doing.

I find it rather pathetic when you have outbursts like this with someone just because they don't post something that you particularily agree with. You do it quite a lot!

I find it more pathetic that people like you post absurd comments and then play the "it's my opinion" card. You're right it is your opinion, it's crass and wrong in this case so be prepared to have it challenged in the same strong and robust manner it was first posted by you.
So lets confirm - the young kids, has beans and never really were players who managed to avoid the wooden spoon last year whilst in many cases being paid peanuts did this without displaying any passion - if that's you're opinion I'd love an explanation as to how you came to it?

| When we were looking at new Coaches to appoint, do I remember it right that Millward had agreed to come here but nothing was signed and in the end he knocked us back and went to Cas. I'm sure that was the word at the time on here and around the club but I could be wrong.

Poor attempt to put words in my mouth.
Passion is such an emotive and meaningless expression. I play Jimmy Hendrix riffs on my guitar with passion but it still sounds like a cat scratching a blackboard. Truth is it was an inadequate and understrength team put together last minute who along with their Coach (who knew he was on his way out) ran out of steam. You do remember last years team? You do recall the uncertainty as we approached franchise, or is your memory really that short? Did you really expect them to make it through the season without eventually losing form and focus or passion as you call it?
Personally the limp end to last season was utterly predictable to anyone who understands the dynamics of a SL club.
Nothing to do with lack of passion, everything to do with the state of the club at the time. If passion as you see it actually exists in RL then there was bags of it on show for most of last season - certainly more than this one and more than in 2010 IMO.
So perhaps your hasty criticism of the team as lacking passion was a touch out of order

Nice sidestep by the way on my previous comment, maybe if Kear could have got our players to do that the games wouldn't have been so boring!

I seem to recall the rumour was that we made him an offer based on what we perceived his value to be and that Cas trumped that offer, so he went there.
As it happens, he's hardly pulling up trees.

So basically you have made a silly comment IMO, I have offered my opinion on your comments as is my right - You seem unable to admit you were wrong, this appears to be my fault because I'm high and mighty
It never fails to amaze me the number of people who post very strong and critical opinions on here - yet feel they should be utterly immune from criticism themselves. You couldn't make it up.

I am suprised Agar or Millward got another shot in SL.
I heard a rumour Agars on more money at Wakey than he got at Hull, but its only a rumour.
