Don’t get your point? it would be like loads of other City/town central stadia. City centre parking, park and ride boost City Centre footfall, walking distance from train station easier walking distance than Belle Vue for most fans. Knowing the list of other failed projects it probably won’t happen but access won’t be the reason why.

If the council had any intentions of seeing this stadium business through, there would have been something in place long before now.
I can think of many projects that have been completed in less time than this stadium saga and at much greater expense in other parts of the country.
The community stadium is for the benefit of the people of Wakefield and putting things in perspective a small cost for the benefit it will reap for the city.
WMDC are incompetent at best as far as this issue goes.
In these days of so called openness and honesty the council are bottom of the league.

So we have realists who know exactly what is going on here, and the odd one or two deluded fantasists who are putting forward pubs to have a pint in before the match at our shiny new Balne Lane stadium.

The only time it looked remotely possible that something would get moving on this was when the club/trust were threatening legal action/judicial review. As soon as we withdrew that threat the delaying tactics began all over again.
Surely the time has come to put a deadline to the council and say if nothing has happened by end of August we are going down the legal route????

I do agree there Fordy, certainly did seem to make them feel unseasy about the entre situation. The main concern with going down legal route on things is initial costs. Though i think in instantes like this, would be worth it

Location wise, i think in vicinity to the city centre would be good, better than Newmarket, just not too sure regarding road networks.

Nothing wrong gastric i think in a bit of harmless banter about pre match pints. BV used to have a few, within a stones throw from the ground not too long ago, and they all got full

M'lud I refer you to my previous evidence in this case and respectfully draw your attention to the last sentence.

I'm not sure access would be an issue necessarily, as who expects to park right next to the ground? It's more akin to the Warrington ground, in that it is very close to the city centre, is a very short walk from Westgate station, and it is surrounded by housing estates that can be approached from other directions. The only point of access that is bad is the immediate approach under the railway bridge (would the team coach fit under it).

The likelihood is that there would be parking restrictions on many of the streets, but if you think how far you currently walk to Belle Vue, I bet you can easily find somewhere to park the same distance away. Very few get to park on the ground.

Having said that, what there doesn't appear to be is an entrance to the fields that could accommodate the contractors and it would be very hidden away. I suspect it's merely the outcome of a meeting where Box has ordered his lackeys to find a field, any old field, just for something to say. Queens Drive was a much better option. Good plot, a visible location for passing traffic, access to a motorway close by.

Too true about "the tips". I served my apprenticeship with a Cas stalwart and he always told me your Tetanus injections had to be up to date before you could play at Odsal as it was built over a quarry. Don't know if the same applies but you never know whats underneath as there were no restrictions in those days. I know its all to do with finance but as I've said before I'd love to see Belle Vue fully restored to some thing like its former glory. Love to park at the common and walk down as its all part of the game day experience for me.

I too would love to see BV renovated for similar reasons but more than that, I would like our disgrace of a Council to enforce the agreement to have the ground built at Newmarket! But I do love the way the club has frustrated Box and kept us a good SL side, so he can't just sit there and hope we fizzle away.

I agree, unless something is currently going on in the background we don't know about, and Michael says not, then it is time to take legal action and this time see it through. I would go so far to say, even if that is at the cost of player signings. The stadium issue trumps that. There is no point being mollified by promises and offers from Box et al anymore. They speak with forked tongue. It is well beyond time to see this out in court

I have a feeling that this would have been in court long before now if it wasn't for the outrageous and most times prohibitive costs charged by the legal profession.

Hi Guys, all developments have stages in planning procedure !
Land/property available then proposals then outline proposals then outline planning permission which has to be approved before any next stage !
Then feasibility & development monies - partners agree to develop a detailed
design agreeable to all parties & the LA who then pass/permission to enable process-with building control being over seeing the project to completion compliance.
cllr Box has overseen the Cas stadium project to detailed design stage which is being processed now ! See public statements. They will own that ground for £1
I am not bothered about what Cas get, I am concerned why with equal endeavour
& Equity Trinity are not treated the same ?
Trinity are not even at outline planning stage ? We are years off that yet !
We are not even agreed on where the ground should/will be & there is no agreement on funding & how trinity would pay rent !
I find this very sad now especially as our club holds the area city name, thereby lies the nub of boxes problem with identity.
He will always never find agreement to move on or agree & produce, he handles frustration with eloquence and an art form with Teflon excuses pointing to all others.
