| I don't know how politics work, but if Box persists with this could Trinity go above his head to the Conservatives and inform them they have a rogue MP acting in his own best interest not that of the City of Wakefield.

| The worst thing about all of this is that it pits fan against fan, whereas in reality we both want each other to survive provided that it isn't at the cost of our own club.

Would you say the same if the leader of the local council was a wakey fan and trying to remove the parcel of land they agreed to let you use as collateral for lending purposes to put it into newmarket?
No you bloody wouldn't.
Its been said on here numerous times, he should not have any involvement at all in the process, his colours are well and truly nailed to the Cas mast

| I really hope the club do not give in to this blatant attempt by Box to get what he wants and if there is anyway we can proceed without the loan of the land, I would love it (it would be great watching the git squirm trying to work out how he could legitmately let Cas use both parcels of land to complete funding)

Newmarket isn't exactly central to Wakefield or it's main fan base.

| I cant believe how long and drawn out the whole stadium issue is and im becoming fed up or worrying.
You see 10-12k stadiums going up all the country along with other sporting facilities - yeh I understand football has a big part in that but surely footy clubs in League 1 and 2 with nice little ground cant be making much more money that Super League clubs especially after shelling out on their player wages yet they seem to have no problem in stadium projects???
Also if the Box rumours are true and not just ppl on here flying rumours around then it discusts me! Every week that passes makes me think the stadium wont happen and 2 stadiums is just a pipe dream. If the funding is in place why is their continued set-backs??? Its in every parties interest this moves forward quickly and with SWAG etc working their ba!!s off I just cant understand how this has taken years and years???
Wakefield has already lost its professional rugby union club, has no pro footy team and now could be the beginning of the end for professional rugby league. Wakefield already has e leisure and sporting facilities that quite frankly is embarassing. If newmarket fails then its the final nail in the city's coffin. I look forward to walking through wakefield in a few years where everyone is larger than a tellytubby (some would say its already like this). The whole city needs this stadium not just WTW and the council should be breaking there bent backs to help get it built otherwise its goodbye WTW.

New swimming pool planned for Wakefield
Published Date: 26 April 2010
PLANS have been drawn up to build a new city centre swimming pool in Wakefield.
Wakefield Council has submitted a planning application for a pool and fitness centre on Sun Lane, the site of the city's former baths.
The project, which will cost around £10m, will feature a 25m pool, health and fitness suite, steam room and public cafe.
Lisa Dodd, the council's service director for sport and culture, said: "This is the next step towards seeing this key project realised.
"The application will now go through all the normal planning processes and we hope that once approved, initial work can begin later this year."

It will be just another of his empty promises - unless of course he can plough the money into surfworld as a sweetner to the Glasshoughton project going ahead.
I don't live in Wakey but can't believe how this guy has lasted so long when it is quite clear is only interest is looking after the Cas area

The council have had 30m wiped from their budget by central goverment along with an extra 1.2m from the police budget, so alot will have to go by the wayside unfortunately

Fair point but even so with this built facilties could still be classed as very poor - especially over the west side of wakefield (horbury / ossett way).
I doubt with council cuts that they will spend 10million on this project - no doubt it will end up being scaled back and again the council will lead the people of wakefield up the garden path! Im sick of seeing artists impressions in the wakey express yet nothing ever gets built apart from the horrid market. Lets hope our newmarket will be built and be better than the one in the city centre!!

But you do not have the funding.
We don't have planning consent and it seems that the Council are delaying planning at Newmarket to try and force us into Glasshoughton. If we stick to Newmarket then I guess neither will happen and we both will fail to get a franchise.
So our options are :
1. Stick with Newmarket, fail to get planning in time for the franchise application and therefore fail and be demoted to NL 1.
2. Agree to share at Glasshoughton, put in a franchise application. RFL decide that there will only be room for one SL club in the district and award the franchise to Castleford. Wakefield demoted to NL1.
3. As 2. but both of us get a franchise. Wakefield cannot grow the business by being located in Castleford and either dies or is demoted to NL1.
Not much of an option whichever one we take - either spells the end of us as a SL Club.
Castleford's options are pretty much the same so I'm afraid to say I think it looks like we're both screwed.

| Had a quick look at the WDMC website at the code of conduct for Councillors - not entirely sure cos as usual the way it is worded is far more complicated then it needs to be - but Boxes known Cas allegiance could imo fall under the definition of a prejudicial interest and therefore should imo prevent him from being involved in the discussions.
