Michael has done what he can with small resources. If I have a criticism, it's around recruitment and failing to try to address key positions but, as he has often said, bring me 2-3 thousand more fans and he'll deliver a better squad.
He has managed to get us to a place nobody has in 50+ years; a modern and renovated ground. Nobody knows for sure what is coming in super league but clubs like ours are invaluable to rugby league and I suspect we are not as unpopular as the paranoia we sometimes feel.
Our luck looks like it has run out. I don't think anyone else could have done a better job with the club since Michael took over post Glover collapse. Between the shenanigans of wmdc and York Court, covid, which is always going to affect smaller clubs more and some rank bad luck with injuries for 4 years, his good stewardship looks like is not getting its just rewards. Thanks for your efforts Michael

We are screwed with relegation.'"
Yes there is no parachute payment all clubs were remined of that this week by the RFL. The other thing to account for is that although new facilities will give a financial boost, once the club stary to use them ,the ground mortgage kicks in. This could eat up all the benefits. If our B.o.D are still around , i really cant see them putting their own money in so part time looks to be the only solution i would have thought.

Well if we can’t raise a team to compete in at the least the playoffs in championship the club will likely end up like Bulls/London. That will be sad.

Look i can see your point but lets be a little realistic. The journey to new facilities started around 2009 before anyone had even heard of Michael Carter. It should have happened well before his watch and with a decent council Ted may have got the benefit. Plenty of reasons for its delay but to my mind Peter Box was the main culprit. I am certain that if he was still been around we would be as far away as ever. That man had no intention of Trinity getting a bean before his beloved Cas. MC was in the right place st the right time and with Box departing things started to move. More credit to JM actually as he has been the one who has steered things through. But Luck and timming have been a massive factor

Well, I beg to differ, though I am probably remiss not to mention John Minards. Luck had nothing to do with it. Michael and the team have had to apply all sorts of legal and political pressure to get the stadium over the line and I don't think our playing situation warrants the belittling of that achievement. It is sad that our playing fall is occurring now but I'm not for catastrophising about it till we know what the situation is, should our increasingly likely relegation occur

| The club are the ones generating the income and deciding the player budget. The fact that despite the number of years we have been in SL. We still have the lowest salary cap which is nothing to be proud of but is in fact a failure of those in charge of money generation. We do not have a Ken Davy but not all the clubs do but they are obviously better at raising finances.
We have one of the highest season ticket prices, you have to pay an annual fee to get in the bar and then the bar prices I believe are excessive compared to and I don’t want to say it the con club for example. We have no marketing of matches or if we do I have missed it.
I know Vastman will be disgusted but Castleford manage to attract far larger crowds with increased sales revenue, which allows them to recruit better players.
I like many on here remember the years in the wilderness of the championship it is not the panacea some supporters believe it is. We went for several years seeing our better discoveries leaving for the bigger clubs. I hope I am wrong but I would not be surprised to see us drop to part time to cover the reduced money and maybe we will see other departures.
With regards the game on the radio it said, during the water break Hull KR huddled up to discuss the strategy with an assistant coach whilst we just drank the water.

We fought so hard to win our place in SL, we kicked the doors in when they tried to deny us, we surpassed all expectations in that 1st season when they refused to offer us any SL money and Andy Kelly’s teams were the epitome of true Wakefield Trinity players, they never buckled to anyone!
I am not looking forward to being relegated and don’t accept that “the club will find its natural level” crap'"
Quite a few of those players on show today aren’t fit to lace the boots of those players that have gone before , and are an embarrassment to our once great club .

| Just to say well done to the decent following from Trinity who made the trip to Craven Park today.
I was relieved to get the win because otherwise we would have been well and truly dragged into the dog fight. I personally hope you stay up because you are a proud and historic club and really all you need is a bit more money to get somewhere near the full salary cap. With the stadium improvements maybe you could achieve this so how ironic if just when you finally get the much needed new facilities you find yourselves in the championship.
It's not all yet over so keep the faith.

I echo this and I couldnt help but think you had 2 sets of fans who went through the ringer today either their physically or on here whilst over in France, I'd be quite certain the vast majority of "Toulouse "fans" probably wouldn't even know the score and having seen French RL fans they really do not 'feel' like English fans. It might sound harsh but they're just ..there and might enjoy what's being served up on the day but yeah..maybe if there was astrong French league (actually there already is but why that isnt focused to get stronger domestically then bringing more Frenchteams here I dont know!) Theyd be more on tune in that aswell.

| Well, for those of us who made the trip over, we were treated to another abject attacking "performance" and errors galore.
Penalties against with ball in hand have to be THE worst offence and we gave some of these today.
Coupled with a completion rate that makes losing a certainty, we got what we deserved.
Very similar to the Toulouse game in Toulouse.
It's got to be said that we are the worst side in the comp and look nailed on to lose this year's battle to remain in SL.
There is some effort there but, we're not good enough and it's an absolute travesty that this group of players are the team that will take the club into The Championship.
We've survived in SL with far worse squads than this but, all confidence has gone and we now look like the side that Tony (Casper) Smith took to the brink.
Sorry, Willie, it's time for a knight in shining armour, if we can find one. I'm absolutely gutted today as KR were there for the taking but, we couldn't build any pressure.
There was a slight effort with 10 minutes left on the clock but, clearly, that isn't and never has been good enough

I would point out that it is the responsibility of the BOD to generate the income. They also set the club’s budgets including that of the playing staff. They may not directly say who we sign but with them running with the smallest budget they certainly dictate the quality.
I know you won’t like to hear it but the problems start with them by failing to generate sufficient funds despite the number of years they have been in charge.

Sadly we had plenty of opportunities in both halves to well and truly ice that game. We simply don’t have the Rugby IQ to win sadly. It was at the other end of the field from us so not sure how close it was.

I agree there were a few decisions that made me think ‘Eh’ they one where I think Hall kept the ball in field after their penalty to touch, but the ref ruled it as in touch, he kept it in. Tanginoa was held back by Coote also missed by the refs. Unfortunately when you’re down on confidence luck goes with it too.

Why, are their jobs not to generate income for the business which is usually how it works. The fact that from day one we have operated with the smallest spending on players suggests they have not been successful. I don’t know what business you are involved in but stagnation or decline is not good for longevity.
We are further impeded by the fact that what we produce on the field increases revenue however if you fail in your core business then we end up where we are today.
I am happy to be advised why the business of Wakefield Trinity deserves to be held to a different standard.

I am not happy that we are still at the bottom of the salary cap after all these years and that because of this I am angry that we now face relegation. I suppose you are happy with our current position and don’t see the lack of progress on the field as a problem.

| Absolutely...like every other ardent Trinity fan that posts on here I am absolutely overjoyed at our current situation...but bleating about it on here 20 times a day, 7 days a week has now become very tedious...of course we all want a winning team and improvements on where we are now (and are likely to be next season), so have you thought of channelling your frustrations elsewhere as we are all very clear where you stand on this subject ??
Trust me, we are all as frustrated as you are, we just don't all feel the need to post these frustrations on every thread on here day after day

If Miller did get over that’s shocking as would likely have seen us win. Nothing surprises me though with the officiating this season.
