Cas fans, like Wakey fans, have more respect for bricks and mortar. Wright would be better served focusing his full attention on delivering his own project, and avoiding distractions from attractive neighbours.

| Good luck to them, its not easy in these current economic times.
I know the RFL and moreso the rugby league community would not look favourably on it if we start wanting to 'move the goalposts' so to speak in not delivering a full stadium on time this time round what with all the supposed promises/claims in the past.

| It really is a no brainer and if the RFL and there franchise system has to keep any credibility then Cas must go and Widnes in. Teams in the championship have managed new stadiums, Widnes being 1 Halifax and the magnificent Leigh Stadium. That without 1.3 million of sky. I think its a bit rich teams now blaming the recession how have these teams managed it then.

A fact lost on many who criticise clubs who do not have the luxury of being under the jurisdiction of a council who is in the fortunate position to be able to construct such things.

Correct. The Galpharm was built by Kirkleess, the KC by Kingston Communications, the Halliwell Jones on the back of a Tesco. No rugby club can afford to build its own stadiums but it seems that whether one is in SL or not depends on whether you have nice plastic seats rather that what happens on the field.
Being in SL will come down to whether you have been fortunate to have a stadium provided for you rather than abilty.

| i wouldn't like to see a ground share with us and cas because i think that "merger" would spring up again. the rfl would love to revoke 1 of the licences and give it to widnes / leigh / halifax or even a club somewhere else.
i have noticed that tigerman hasn't posted yet !
hope that they get it sorted because i do enjoy the derby games.

The merger thing will never go away until we both have a new stadium, If Cas had to groundshare with us for a season till they got all their finances in order then I think it would gather even more momentum unfortunately. I think that if the RFL wanted to revoke one of our licences for one of the smaller clubs they would not need much of an excuse to do so, lets face it, it doesnt matter how good your team is so long as the ground looks good on television.
As for tigerman11 not posting yet its difficult to keep track on which board he is currently serving a ban

If its called Wakefield "something" then yes, otherwise probably not but thats not to say future generations would take to it.

I’m sure they would, but could the merged club survive the interim period where a generation of fans feel betrayed and not support it? Would the Rhinos swoop into the WMDC further and entice more support away from the area whilst the new club finds it feet, draining the supporter pool?

No neither club could survive a merger atm, take the hardcore support away from both teams and all you would be left with,is disillusioned fans looking for a home.
Rhinos, I don't think so, I'd go and watch Fev first and that would break my heart to do that. No to a ground share and No to a merger, no offence.

| A merger at Newmarket for us would be like being at the Huddersfield end of the Sheffield merger, provided that it retained the name Wakefield. That's why Cas won't agree to it, as they would be putting themselves out of business.

| Good luck to cas in every way, cant say i enjoy any game more then cas away, last years was a great day out, and some of their fans are friends of mine and as passionate about beating us as we are about them, but always willing, as i hope i do, to accept when the best team wins,
There is no argument from me that Id ge the same from 2 widnes games a season, i wouldnt!
As many have said on here, the real non numpty cas and wakey fans want two strong clubs, in stadiums that can handle huge derby crowds safely and in comfort.
oh and a merger? im at dewsbury!!!

| both clubs cannot generate enough income, a 20,000 stadium groundshare should be made to happen. with this you cut costs and then maybe keep hold of the best players otherwise i cant really see either club winning anything again unless they get lucky cup draws like us the other year. it should be built in the middle of both clubs and we should get on with it, this should of been sorted yonks ago. as for mergers im not sure but it might be the only way forward for most clubs unless they get a sugar daddy who ploughs some cash in. the game is just a struggle for most clubs so some forward thinking is needed.
