It may be but can you remember one pass made by Walshaw in any first team games he has played. He is a centre and that is an important part of their game.
I don't think on a separate subject you could criticise Mather's for three tries conceded the first yes but the majority of the others came down Owen's wing unless I was at a different game.

As bad as Mathers is at the moment, Id start him full back again. This then frees up Sammut - hes got to start in the halves, we are crying out for this !! partnering Godinet.

Siejka drops to bench, just not doing it at mo and move Sykes into the centre. His defence is very good and much more at ease in that position than at 6 - how many times did he fail to make the pass against Warrington !!??

And how about starting Moore ?? We need to make an impact early on in games and he brings real enthusiasm to the side.

If Mathers is going to play then he has to be at fullback. He is no winger thats for sure and we need Sammut at stand off where he can get his hands on the ball more, he is our most creative player and right now he is not being used nearly enough. Godinet should be alongside him with McShane & Wildie rotating at hooker. Siejka can carry the water, along as he doesn't belt it aimlessly into the crowd.

We say Wakefield lack motivation but Bradford only have to read this forum because the level of despair has reached epic proportions.

We need a strong start in this one so strongest team from the off. Get on top of them and their heads will drop as they pretty much know if we beat them we are out of reach whatever their appeal decides.

I don't know whether you've attended the majority of games this season but if so, is it surprising?

It seems some are easily pleased. 17 guys turning out in a wakey shirt seems to merit praise from some on here.

All the excuses need to stop and the coaches and players need to start showing they understand we are in a relegation season and start performing like their jobs are on the line.

Part of the problem for mine is that the message from the club is its all about finishing 12th. Obviously this is the key aim but it seems at the moment there is an apathy around the club given bradford are currently 8 points behind us. It's almost as if they think we're too far ahead of bradford and london so let's not bust a gut but just go through the motions.

This club has always had a never say die spirit within the team even when we had less quality in the squad. This seems sadly lacking at present

You can't send him back - he is a WTW player now. Not on loan from Cas Tigers.
Wakey should play him at full-back where he is better IMO.

Didn't he start his career at FB? I seem to remember him being tipped as a future England player in the position.
I would try him at FB to free Sammut up and put him back to HB with Godinet.

He's not a FB he was absolutely woeful there under Millward! Even had some Cas fans wishing they had Mathers back

Owen is a decent fullback, it's where he started his career and where he got all of his early praise - he's solid on the back line. tbh everyone was woeful under Millward & I'd rather play my mother at fullback than have Mathers back.

Owen defensives stats yesterday were awful. Attempted 8 tackles and missed 5 of them. Mathers missed 2 out of 4.

Is putting yourself out of position so you're nowhere near the ball carrier classed as a missed tackle?

He did actually fall over, to save the embarrassment of missing the tackle, impeding Matt Ryan's attempt to cover.

Word is that Bradford will have Diskin, Blythe, Ferguson and Fakir back in contention for this match. Could be the strongest squad to pick from all season so there can be no excuses from the Bulls if you get the result.

Blythe at fullback Diskin on the wing and fakir can drop into the centres, Fergy can sit on the bench and come on with 3 minutes left on the clock.

Maybe Walshaw should do what Mathers did at MM and pop the ball out to no one?

I guess this confirms none of you can remember a pass he made. I regret that you have a short career in the centres if you cannot pass or are just unwilling to do so. His best position could be prop because they are not expected to show ball handling skills.

Maybe Walshaw is trying to play the percentage game and not throw away possession?
If he passes and it goes to ground, into touch or gets his wing battered, he would get crucified for this, so his best option is to play safe and when he develops his game more, he will be more confident to pass.

If Diskin is back, he'll make hay around the ruck; he's no Roby, but he can scoot, and we're simply not managing the ruck, or reloading fast enough, to do anything about it.

Bradford looked bleedin' awful at the weekend, but we are just the type of team to help them get their heads back up.
