| The simple fact as I see it is Halifax were competing against Widnes and Barrow for a licence. They lost out to Widnes and everyone expected that to be it but they were given a second chance. I suspect the RFL knew Crusaders were struggling and were also keeping a watching eye on how we were going under the new regime and thus Halifax were kept in as an insurance policy.
Halifax clearly would not be stronger than us in the community, commercial or youth development areas (and to be fair you would not expect them to be), I suspect Savilles have seen the plans to temporarily upgrade BV and the NM plans and felt these are suitably strong as well.

| hands up whos seen the applications , no i thought not . how can the halifax chair call ours without seeing ours ... its all done on points we scored an A on many areas and on the community ect was heralded as the blueprint ... littlerich should return to being a comedian instead of a politician .
i really feel sorry for halifax i thought they would get it , but they have not . they need to concentrate on getting instead slating Wakefield

| You are very proud of your communuity work and youth structure. All very easy to set up when you have millions of Sky money coming every year. You have had a decade to build a new stadium and done NOTHING. Why should you be given an extra year?

| Well said Michael Steele.A club in admin, with a ground that hasn't been improved in at least the last 3 years,no approval for a new ground gets in ahead of a club that has ticked all the things that Wakey haven't.The rfl have just compounded what every decent supporter of rugby league already knows IT IS BENT.Good luck to 13 teams in SL for the next 3 years and if anyone from Wakey comes anywhere near me asking for my support as a resident of Wakefield there is only 1 thing they will get told P*** **F

Alot of funding comes in from elsewhere for the community work off the back of the value it offers and the youth structure is supported by squadbuilder and our new 1873 lottery scheme.
If were gonna talk about Sky money what about the two years of money we never got. As I said you were competing with Widnes and Barrow for a licence and lost out to Widnes. Clearly other than perhaps Crusaders , you were always going to struggle to have a better overall bid than the existing SL clubs because said clubs have all the infrastructure required in place.

Factually wrong on two points.
1. I'm almost certain that the community dept at WTW is cost neutral, as Davide Longo and his team have consistently generated a massive amount of grant income.
2. As for stadium - we'll be playing out of Newmarket in 18 months time.

| The Halifax chairman should take a chill pill and ease off Wakefield. Why does he think we were the weakest applicant of those who got in? Why does he think their application is better than ours?
We have long been touted for the drop due to stadia, yet the franchise application is over many criteria and not one or two. We are not the only club not to yet have a new ground but we are going to up grade before 2012. Further we've been trying for many years and politics has stopped us.
Why does he not have a go at Quins, Salford or Cas? Why does he think we are worse than his application. Spouting off impulse reactions will not help his case with the RFL.
I genuinely see a future for Halifax in Super League and hope they get there. However the Chairman should have facts and not believe everything he reads in the media.

Yes, but you have the RFL/Sky money to spend to get it going in the first place, which then attracts grants. Do you honestly believe Halifax wouldnt be able to attract the same grants?
Quote 2. As for stadium - we'll be playing out of Newmarket in 18 months time.'"
From the RFL's own FAQ released a week ago:-
Quote New stadiums or redevelopments of existing stadiums have only been taken into account if the RFL Board was satisfied that the stadium will be open or the redevelopment finished by the start of the 2012 season.'"
Tell me, how many bricks have been laid at Newmarket or has your 'redevelopment' even started yet. You made the same promises last time and broke them.

None, because the SoS has called the application in for a PI; watch this space though.
I think your anger is pointed in the wrong direction to be honest - you were up against Widnes and you lost that fight months ago; you weren't really in contention against the existing SL clubs, you're light years behind in too many criteria.

Believe it when I see it. You made the same promises last time and broke them. The Shay is ready now. If you redeveloped all four sides of BV it still wouldnt be half the ground that the Shay is. Perhaps if we want a license next time around we should demolish half of the shay and go bust the season before. Its worked for you!

Savilles an independent firm of professional property consultants obviously believed it when presented with the evidence by Wakefield.
Your Chariman misses the point, he was willing to accept you weren't in because Crusaders were an expansion club (but with a weaker application than Wakey), but kkicks off because were in and Crusaders are out. Its a bit hypocrtical don't you think?

| i'd prefer it if my fellow trinity fans were sympathetic to the plight and the feelings of those at halifax.
this is a shallow and empty process. i'm glad we're still in the top division, but i'm not happy in the slightest today with the world of rugby league.

I would be sympathetic if we weren't the target for their chairmans rant and fans who clearly don't know much about our club other than believing the same rubbish peddled about for months spouting off.
TBH I am sick of our club being talked down by fans of others.

The thread was slagging off our chairman. Gives me every right to come on here and defend him.
The applications were professionally assessed on merits. The result was you dropping out and Crusaders staying in. Yesterday the Crusaders pulled out, leaving a snap decision by Lewis and Wood. The easiest decision was made, keep Wakefield in but remind them they have to do something with their ground blah blah blah. If BV is redeveloped before the start on next year it is still not a SL standard ground. End of.

none of the sky money , not 1 penny of it goes into funding this . you need to bring facts to the table for an adult discussion.

Indeed - I'm glad that a 'proper' club is staying in at the expense of a poor experiment.
It's a shame that fans of two 'proper' clubs are reduced to having an argument over Business plans, stadia and finances. Until the RFL sorts this out I've not much interest for our game.

| I've no problem with the guy mouthing off although it is probably ill judged, he's obviously disappointed. What I still don't get is why all his ire is aimed towards us specifically. As for certain fax fans coming on here slagging us off have more dignity it's not Wakey who introduced this stupid process
