What seems to be overlooked during this discussion is that whatever ground we end up with we are talking of several years into the future. What guarantees are there that we'll even have a club when the ground is delivered? The RFL will only allow us to live a nomadic life for so long before they call time.

The Trust's sole aim has been to provide a Community stadium for the people of Wakefield and the Trust members have all given numerous hours of their own time over the past umpteen years to try and achieve this, obviously at considerable cost to themselves in both time and travelling etc and none of them have ever sought to seek financial gain, (heck, one of them is even a Rhino's fan !!!) and rightly or wrongly, they brought in Sir Rodder's to try and assist in the process.
Unfortunately, it would appear that his ego took over, as usual and he then insisted on attending subsequent meetings alone with the Council and Yorkcourt (none of which appear to have been minuted) and inexplicably agreed to the Newcold development not counting towards the 60,000 sq. m trigger point for the stadium build. Now why would he do that ???
The "genuine" members of the Trust eventually got wind of this and Sir Rodder's clearly found his position un-tenable and stepped down, yet here he is, forming a new Trust and lo and behold his two previous best buddies now say that they won't deal with the existing Trust and they will only deal with him, once his new Trust has been formally ratified BY THEM !!!

I bet the genuine Trust members, along with MC, are absolutely livid at the disgusting, underhand way they have been treated by these three disgraceful, devious individuals.......BUT........ let's just assume for one nano-second that the three wise monkey's have suddenly had a change of heart and do actually build us a stadium before hell freezes over, then who can we really thank for forcing them into a corner and making them perform a U-turn ????

No one involved in the Trust is doing this for credit or kudos and if the Council and Sir Rodney Walker were able to pull this off then we would be perfectly happy for them to be carried shoulder high around the streets of Wakefield to the adoration of the people of Wakefield.

Thats one for Chris and Michael but I guess it all comes down to the terms of the tenancy which as far as I am aware have not been discussed with the Club.

Depending on a number of factors:

• Location
• Rent
• Conditions
• Other involved parties

We may very well need persuading.
On the other hand, it could be perfect and our holy grail.

So MC has to knock back the new Stadium offer after the conditions under which it is to be built and run are altered beyond the financial viability originally agreed.
This makes Rod happy, he doesn't have to deliver the stadium that the Bermuda triangle didn't want to build in the first place and conveniently shifts the blame for that to WT's doorstep.

Or he agrees to the altered terms, gets a stadium built in the community, when it's built says that the rental agreement is too high and is unfeasible then plays the same game he's already playing with Belle Vue to get the rent lower. The difference would be that Yorkcourt would be a bit more pliable as they'd have just spent several million building a stadium so anything would be better than nothing for them.

Depends how long the lease would be signed for and whether there would be a break clause at any point.

For what it's worth (nothing), that's how I imagine it playing out too.

This may not be the case of course. Until we hear from our intrepid leader, we won't know which way the wind is blowing.

All we have at the moment are hearsay and conjecture. But then as Aristotle postulated, nature abhors a vacuum.

I just can't see why he would set up a new Trust just so he can shift the blame to the club. He's had a long involvement with the club and presumably wants to see a stadium built. The issue is to what extent he benefits, and to what extent the club suffers a detriment, due to the establishment of a new Trust.

I think this is just pessimism filling a vacuum. I don't think MC would allow the club to be shafted. He's shown that a few times in recent years. It might be that the terms aren't quite as great, but it has to be better than the many alternatives.

They will not build it until terms are agreed.
