War? Certainly not a 'war'. And no one is dragging you into anything. You replied to a post on Page 9 and it has stemmed from there.
No one, (in terms of Cas fans) is commenting on Newmarket now, as far as I can see. Cas fans are merely responding to the comments towards GH that Wakefield fans continue to bring up.
As for the funding, I apologise on that front, I misinterpreted it - I just wish Cas would come out and say X, Y and Z then it would stop all this speculation.
Like I said back in my first post. We're going around in circles again. Wakey are going for Newmarket and know they have the funding, Cas are going for GH and know/believe have the funding and dates in place. Both projects are moving forward and I'm sure both sets of fans want both to go ahead. |

Or for the simple fact that some of our funding was unavailable due to Hicksons Chemical licence, the confusion over what facilities were going into the stadium etc etc. I'm sure you'll agree these are reasonable reasons? Anyway, what does it matter now. We've got a start time and if it doesn't go ahead, then's the point to start questioning. |

dont know about him being a loan shark but as far as i can remember he made his money out of the misfortune of many companies in wakefield and the surrounding areas in the 60s and 70s. I believe he was very good at looking out for small companies going to the wall as they couldnt compete with larger competition and coming in to buy them out for peanuts (I think thats how he made his money). |

That is what I have heard as well, they cancelled the meeting for the 24th September but it is only a very short delay over some very minor things that need sorting. I understand they are looking at rearranging the meeting for last week in September/1st week in October latest. |

obviously not but it seems like the councilors want to meddle with something that they have no knowledge about,
there are safety reasons put in place for the delay in reclaiming land that has been subject to the storing of hazardous waste and the blast zone area, so I wonder what makes them think that they can hurry it up,
if I lived locally to that area I would have grave concern that they would be pushing this through to help Castleford in their plight to maintain Super League status, |

However, that point is now mute. Much of the site has been cleared from what I know and it is now defunct. There is no real reason why, subject to testing, the blast zone/licence shouldn't be revoked.

Who owns the site ? I recall it was acquired by Paloma who intended to put housing on the site which would have resulted in them surrendering the licence. However I think they went bust.
I believe that whoever owns the site will own the licence for chemical storage/manufacture and the blast zone cannot be removed until the licence is revoked or surrendered. As the licence/blast zone is preventing development then I would imagine it has a value and the current owners would be foolish to surrender the licence without substantial financial recompense. |

I'm aware of a chemical dump on the other side of the old railway line - the Wheldale side (I worked on the restoration of Fryston / Wheldale) - although this, I believe, is off the main site and may not directly interfere with future development. I would however imagine that stringent rules would need to be followed as part of the remediation of the site. This in itself would not prevent the revoking of the licence as this work would still be the owners liability. It will however affect the price of the site and will, in all likelihood, affect the recompence requested by the owners.
This is an area where (and I'm sure SC will verify) YF would have been able to help with regeneration. Their demise will not help the overall picture.
The redevelopment of that side of Castleford is a massive undertaking (much needed) but with complications such as this, it will not be a quick process.
