I'm sad to see Jay go because he is an outstanding prospect and it would have been great to see him fulfil his potential in Trinity shirt. It would've been nice to see him develop alongside Dale Ferguson and perhaps one or two of our promising Academy players.

However, good luck to him at Leeds!
He is a very nice kid who has left the club on good terms and has expressed his gratitude to all those at Wakefield who have helped him develop to this stage.

More than that Jay was out of contract at the end of the season and whilst the club still have the right to retain his registration and command a fee from anybody who signed him, I have a sneaky feeling that by leaving mid-contract we may have got a slightly better deal.

So now it's time to move on and pave the way for the next young prospect to take his place. Hopefully with the new stadium to help we will be in a position to keep the next Jay Pitts, Gareth Ellis, Colin Maskill, Gary Spencer, Andy Kelly of the future.

i fear it send out a bad message to any other kids at wakey and maybe even DF - he feels it was in his interest to develope as a player at a BIGGER club!

It may also convince some of the castleford yougsters to move on and leave depending on how pitts develops as they would have a friend there convincing them to move, see him progressing well.

Why should it be ? If we could not produce players that people want to buy I'd be even more worried.

I know your only saying this to wind up cas fans so i wont rise to the bait and lie that feather has been poor, he for the most part has been excellent, with a poor patch in the middle of the season leading him to be dropped and come back better for it.

I put his upturn in form since coming to the tigers down to the superior coaching he has recieved compared to any other time in his carear

2nd best prop acording to who, he has only just managed to get his place back in the first team, and as for the land my understanding is that the council is giving us some land to borrow money against (not too sure how this will work) not to build a ground on waystone have sorted us out as far as the land goes.

We have a better chance of a stadium by 2012 so not as worried as you should be.

No doubt we will end up with some short term fix with his best years behind him who will no doubt cost more and give us 2 decent seasons

Disappointed by the message this sends out.
The point of franchise is for us to build a team and not let our youngsters get poached by the top clubs.
As you say, we will probably get a senior player who's "experience will be invaluable", but will cost just as much - Peter Fox vs Peterson springs to mind, who will cost just as much.
All the clubs will now be looking at the likes of Dale Ferguson etc as they have been sent the message that we're happy to let them go.
Would have liked to see Pitts develop with us.

Do Pitts comments not suggest we had little choice and that he'd have gone at the end of the year when his contract was up?
