| Quote ="TRB"Agreed, but....
I thought Korki and Charlie were really poor and ineffective. Moore and King were much more dynamic. Latu was one of our best (and he's leaving), and the rest were chasing shadows at times.
However, being a little more positive, there was enough there to suggest that we COULD have a chance in the last 2 games.'"
Funny how people see it differently. I thought when Charlie and Korki came back on they moved us forward and although Katy was good in flashes he wasn't good as a hooked, he was just another backrower. Rinaldi showed him how to play hooker. Wish he would stay and turn the clock back a bit.

| Quote ="TRB"Whilst I have every sympathy with what you are saying, the truth is that for most - even the hard-nosed ones - this has been a terrible season.
Even whilst we were at least giving it a go today, the opposition were several grades better than us - playing in second gear. But for the forward passes and missed convesrions we would have seen 60 past us today.
As you know, I would so love for this club to be great again, but the challenge is there for the club to enthuse the paying public of Wakefield and to invest in our future on the field as well as off it, because what we have at the moment seems a long way from being a good product. If we don't recruit some better quality players, I fear that the good work done towards the stadium will not be enough!
The challenge is there for the club - either invest in some quality, or face up to the consequences!
Oh - and to JD - thanks, it's been a blast!
'"
And there is the problem.
I was listening to both J.D & J.K’s comments post match. They both alluded to the fact that it’s going to be difficult recruiting players for next season when they may have on one season left in S.L!
I made the trip over, knowing full well we didn’t have a hope in hell, mainly just to applaud J.D, thanks for the memories, especially getting out of his own in-goal at Bradford.
This team has been on life support for much of the season, mainly due to the fact it had its heart ripped out.

It doesn't seem to bother other teams who are recruiting players on 2-3 year contracts that may also be struggling to get a franchise next year or have we had the nod already that next year will be our last in super league

| this time last year wakefield academy were crowned champions,i saw them take apart a castleford u18s side that so far has had at least 6 players make their super league debuts this season and not looked out of place.
surely this was the season to get some of these kids playing first team,im sure the loose forward anakin and southernwood had he been given a chance not only would he still be at wakefield but applying himself with credit.
i know its true that cas and wakefield will struggle to recruit with the threat of not getting a franchise and its been impossible for cas to get anyone from the nrl of any note because of this.so has a result it kind of forces a clubs hand to throw in the kids and can only have a positive affect that the club is producing players which is a major factor in any franchise bid.surely then the rugby brained people of wakefield will find a few losses easier to take knowing that the local kids are been given a chance to shine its certainly something in cas we are very proud of that we can bring kids through the ranks.

| Who are you to criticise who turns up to matches and who doesn't? Moaning at people that don't turn up isn't exactly going to entice them to come, is it?
Some people have work to go to, some people have family events on, some people can't afford the expensive gate fee, some people can't justify the long distance they may have to travel to get there, some may just not feel like it due to the way the club has been recently.
At the end of the day, the club has to entice people to come and watch them play. If the product isn't exciting enough for people to pay their well earned cash, then people are not going to turn up.
I hope that this is a wake up call to the BOD and those running the club, showing them that they are responsible for our 'experience' when we come to BV, and that fans should be treated with respect when they turn up and that the players on the pitch should at least look like they care about what they are doing - recently many people on this forum do not reckon that is what they are getting from a match day at BV.
As for getting players in for next season and beyond, we managed to recruit players before when relegation was an issue, so why not this next season? They will all have release clauses written in anyway, so I don't see what the issue is. Its all excuses, and a lot of people are not happy about it.

Why not did Hull FC fans walk away last season Do HKR back their team to the hilt Cas have had 2 relegations and they still average more than Wakefield. Maybe the fact is the City of Wakefield do not deserve a SL team, The Wakefield public don’t appear to care one way or the other.
And for the record imwakefieldtillidie I will buy 2 gold season tickets for next season I have missed more games than I wanted to this season due to being away from home with work that situation has now changed
I have said in the heat of the moment that’s it no more over and over again, this season has being lousy but I can’t walk away
I will be at Bradford and on holiday for Salford
I am far from happy with how Ted and his hangers on run the club. I would love to know who the idiot was that set the match day entry fee at £20.
I am far from happy with on field performance

| Lets face it we all know the great sporting public have their true priorities.
1. Prefer to watch sport for free on the telly
2. Better still if the telly is in a pub
3. Their darling team is LUFC
Yesterday was the perfect situation so that may have accounted for some support.
However having said all that I think the second half of the season has been terrible
It has not been entertaining or enjoyable and people have just had enough.

Well, Cas' Academy could be said to be more successful than ours then. The true test isn't winning meaningless pots, but producing Super League quality players.

| For all the criticism of the Club's management with respect to attendance I am at a loss to see what more it could do. It has assembled one of, if not the most innovative and hard-working community teams who have tried everything they can to increase interest in watching the team with a sound approach. The vast majority of the thousands of people who must have made one off visits (at subsidised prices) to see the range of additional spectacles (x-factor acts etc) have simply not come back. The elite game is at the top of an ever weakening pyramid in terms of rugby league in the City as fewer people than say 20years ago are involved in the amateur game.
But by far the biggets issue is the fact that the majority of the City's population could not give a fig about WTWRLFC and professional rugby league. I think general malaise is far more of an issue than £20 entry.
Not much point coming on this forum and moaning about numbers turning up to this game and that. It is the people on here who do go to the games on the whole. It is the wider public who need shaking up and that is not going to happen without you know what.

A text on radio leeds for me further hightlighted what an utter legend the guy has being for us,
Unlike all previous players for trin in recent years who've turned up as nobodys then hit form and made a name for them selfs (ellis/brough/poaching/atkins/westwood to name a few) then being offered big money by the likes of leeds/wire/wigan have left without a thought,
Jason stayed with us when the oppoutunity was there for him to leave,

| To say that its a poor attendance and call people like me "so called supporters" is totally unfair tbh.
I feel the attendance was actually good considering the string of, lets face it, performances. People can say, oh it was JD's last match at Belle Vue, and yes i will thank him for his effort in the years he has been here, but lets face it to think people are going to turn out for just that reason is stupid.
And for what its worth, ive supported wakefield all my life and yes ive seen the relagation battles, play offs etc, and i have to say this team and the performances from this team are arguably worse than the ones from the teams of 2001, 2002 etc, because the sad thing is weve seen this team, even without brough, tronc and Newton can play with performances like Hull Fc at home and Quins at Home.
I will be back next season, with a season ticket and most of all hope. As for this season its finished and the pre season already looks bleak.
Btw, this is my first post on here, so take it easy

Brough was already a Challenge Cup winner when we had him, and he already had a big name in Rugby League, its just that some teams didnt want to touch him with a barge pole or already had players in that position. He hardly made his name at Wakey.

So you realise that some people cannot attend every single game.....
Hull have more fans than Wakey ever will have.
HKR have more fans than Wakey do.
Cas fans have prob seen their team win more than we have over the last five or six years or so, (partly helped by winning NL1 games - but winning is winning, and draws in fans). They traditionally have higher attendances than Wakey anyway.
What you serve up on the pitch is crucial, you could play out of a golden palace but if you watching crud on the pitch you end up not wanting to turn up. Team/performance next season is important or attendances will stay low.

He would have found somewhere. You say Bibey won a CC medal, but he wasn't an influential player in the Final as Brough was. Brough had more than potential, he was still a player that Sky Sports raved about when he was having a good game.
I'm not saying that JD didnt have a different approach, just that Brough had a higher reputation before he came.

Maybe, but ours seem to be dropping at pretty much the same rate as yours. In these financially tight times people will prioritise where they splash their cash especially leisure-wise as demonstrated by a feeble 8k at the Jungle on Friday...for the price of admission you could buy a good few pints in a pub showing the game live. At the very least punters demand value for money but very rarely get it from either of our clubs at the moment. If the quality of the teams we are putting out continues to deteriorate next season even the unmentionable merger wouldn't help because we couldn't raise a decent side between us.
