| He may be a coach and a professional person but i heard the fans last night and thought Lowes was right in the context of what was given to him. The RESPECT code of conduct works both ways and if the crowd don't want to keep within that code then why should Jimmy Lowes. The lad was a great PRO and his clearly under pressure which again makes human beings act differently so if you didn't like the reaction then don't dish out the abuse

I dont get what youre referring to here, although i never do, are you suggesting a SL coach sticking two fingers up at opposition supporters is part and parcel or just the abuse the SL coaches recieve is part and parcel.

Would you say the same about a police officer or teacher or paramedic if they responded to verbal abuse in that way??

Yes I would. I see no reason why anyone should have to accept verbal/physical abuse as part of their job. I will never understand those who dish it out but then go running to police/teacher/steward/whoever when they get a bit back.

Not sure we're talking about the same thing here. Sure, police and teachers etc should be able to respond if being abused but in a professional manner. I'm pretty sure most parents wouldn't be too impressed if their kid's teacher offered to take him/her round the back of the bike shed "to sort it out". The Respect agenda [uis[/u important but respect has to be earned and it's the professionals in the game who have to model it. RL's got a lot ot be proud of in this respect and it would be a shame if it became "ok" for players, coaches etc to jeopardise the game's reputation by responding in kind to drunken/ignorant/angry fans.

Clearly Lowes was provoked, but his reaction wasn't just wrong and lacking in dignity it was counterproductive and stupid to himself.
Had he taken on the crowd who would rightly lose there job - Lowes. What could he gain - nothing. Would JK or Mcrae react - no never, they would smile and carry on being prefessional.
Sadly if Lowes can't control his emotions then he can never be a coach. I say this not to defend his abusers but because he clearly can't possibly control a dressing room if a few twits in the crowd get the better of him.
Coaches are generally employed because they are cool, calm and collected yet strong under pressure. Lowes failed them all which gives me no pleasure as we need far more British coaches.

| went to the normy game yesterday and some of the players from west bowling took some right stick. the scrum half caught it from the kick off and two fingered the crowd, next play dropped it he got some right stick.its not nice but its amateur level, it happens every week and its laughed off. lowes is a well paid pro and things are going bad for him at the moment, he could be one of them blokes who do things and think later what have i done.he shouldnt have done it but its pressure and maybe hes not ready to be a number 1 just yet he might come through this a good coach in a few year

Wrong, the RESPECT code of conduct is for everyone spectators included. If fans can't handle a couple of pints then don't drink. Chanting abuse at people will gage reaction and i think it's good that Lowes shows passion just a pity some of his players didn't show the same.

Fair comment - I just think we'd have crashed out of Super League in 2006 had Lowes become coach. Might've been a more suitable environment for him to learn the trade in the lower leagues though...

Beat Cas twice, beat Catalans at Home and the Bulls away. Not that much of an acheivement really. The team we had then was good and under acheived and i am not having a go here.
2007
Disappointing as Wembley should have been acheived given the draw and a top 6 finish was quashed with a poor run of games.
2008 as been a big surprise to everyone as 4 weeks ago some people were calling for Kear to be sacked and the club were terrible etc. Lets not get ahead of ourselves and like Blaymire said one game at a time. We are doing well but so are a few other teams Leeds, Cas, Hull, Hull KR and Giants

Your post loses some validity through having missed an entire year!!
2006 - OK
2007 - your description is of 2008.
2008 - ???? Look at a calender man!
Also, bear in mind the changes in club personnel - especially the amount of GB players.
Big time improvement - at every level of the club!

I think you are grossly undersetimating the task at hand when JK took charge in 06.
To take an admittedly tallented squad who had been poorly coached for 12 months, who had been written off as certainties for relegation, had little or zero confidence, were in the habit of losing amongst many other poor habits . . . . .
To turn all of that around in the time he did was a magnificent achievement
from that point forward he has improved us no end from top to bottom.

| I've got more respect for Jimmy Lowes than i have fans who taunt a man who is clearly struggling to hold onto his job.....i think you've got to be pretty sad to do that and think it's funny.......Personally i can't understand why that would be preferable to cheering on a great performance by the lads.....
Anyways Wire have only just started the season - give him a break....Hull fans wanted rid of Kear because he had an indifferent start to the season a couple of years ago...20+ rounds to go????

What about the complete overhaul of the academy and coaching team? John Kear has brought alot more to Wakefield than a couple of wins here and there.
