I'm impressed with Uele's showing since he joined, but have to say Rodwell looks to be at a higher level, albeit playing a different style of game. As a Trinity fan I'm pinching myself that we can now attract and keep such quality as these two.

Completely agree and we already said as much before we knew it was him. The big teams would have been licking their lips to see a quality middle playing at Trinity who's not tied down for a few years.
Since Ky dropped off a plane near the start of the season, he's just got better and better. I know stats aren't the be-all and end-all, but as dominating as our props have been as a whole, he just doesn't seem to have anything less than good games. In the last game for example where Bowden and Atoni weren't quite as impressive as they usually are numbers-wise. Bowden made 63 m off 7 carries and 26 tackles, and Atoni made 84 meters off 8 carries and 18 tackles. But both had decent games. In comparison, although he played 2nd row and did 80 mins, which speaks to how versatile he is, 12 carries, 120 m, 47 meters PC. and 31 tackles.

Just looking at his timer with us so far, since his arrival against Featherstone in the League, when he had no pre-season or anything with us, he's had just 2 games, where he didn't do 100 + meters, loads of PC meters etc, and they were his first 2 games. Neither he was poor in especially that 2nd one, he made 10 carries, 93 meters & 38 tackles. Apart from that he's been over 100 meters every game, has plenty of PC and tackles everything that comes near.

He's also shown that he can slip into the back row, a bit like Vagana and played 80 minutes last game. This speaks volumes to how versatile and fit he is, 12 carries, 120 m, 47 meters PC. and 31 tackles. The game before, he came off the bench against a decent Swinton side, & was a cut above again, with 14 carries, 173 meters, 66 meters PC and 14 tackles in 44 mins. The bloke has all the hallmarks to be a Top SL prop, along with Caleb and we know Atoni can do it when he's playing like he was when Big Dave came back and has carried it into this season. Plus with McMeekan we have a really exciting set of middles.

I just hope now, we can get Vagana back on the pitch sooner rather than later because I think he's got a high ceiling as well and the potential to be a good SL Prop.

Personally I’m as delighted as anyone else with the announcement, but I get what you mean. God only knows what the build up would be if we were re-signing Wally!

Remember Ky's still only 24, turns 25 in about a month. So when he starts the 2028 season he's still going to be in his prime at 28.

I don't know, he's a bit long in the tooth nowadays at 64, I bet he's still got a killer long pass.

All they said was there was a 4 year deal to be announced on Wednesday.

I am extremely happy with that announcement. He's brilliant and ours for 4 more years!

I think this is great news, he has probably been our best player since he has come in and doesn't seem to have a weakness in his game. I admit that this is only against Champioship opposition but I think he can easily step up to Super League if we get there. He reminds me quite a bit of Jai Whitbread.

Whitbread is a good forward but Rodwell looks early signs a different class (albeit against Championship opposition but that’s unavoidable).

I'm a big fan of Whitbread but he's a very different player to Rodwell.

Agreed Rodwell is a middle and Whitbread is more a prop.

I think Whitbread has kicked on since he left us and added some impact to his game maybe being in a better environment at KR than he was at Trinity.

I’m expecting a lot of the new lads to kick on next year in SL as they are in the main new to a full time environment coming to the club from part time. They will have had a year to develop in that full time environment and it is one that is superior to what we had under Carters time at the club.

Never mind Whitbread, how good has Tangianoa been at KR, the bloke has been devastating in a number of games.

He has managed to go injury free though unlike with us last season

My opinion is he is a liability in defence and drops too much ball I never really rated him

I think they both have benefitted from the fact that the current KR squad is somewhat of an upgrade on what they had last season.

Yes I agree, last time I saw him play he made three handling errors and all pretty basic.

I won't say I don't rate him. He's just a luxury player. His ball running is excellent and his defence is very strong if they run at him.
He isn't good positionally or with his ball handling.

Rovers can carry him for his positives. We can't.

He's devastating with ball in hand.

When he keeps hold of it he is too inconsistent

No less than he was when he played second row for us before Chester screwed that up.

In fact watching him for KR he played better for us when he first came over getting MOTM every week. He’s just rediscovering that now.

All KR have done is simply play him in his best and natural position. Something most Trinity fans were calling for and couldn’t fathom why. Who’s have thought it.
