Quite similar then to when Trinity beat Leeds (or Wigan). I dont think we've ever been credited with playing well.

I don`t think you will find many Wakefield fans on here that will say every time Leeds have beat us over the years it was the referees fault, you are either talking to children or adults that act like children. It is quite obvious to me that Leeds have been a far superior side to Wakefield over the past few decades.

I did not go yesterday, so i can`t really comment on the referees performance. What i can say is that up until this season, although i have had the odd moan i have never really had a big gripe with the officials...I have been massively disappointed with the standard of refereeing this season so far, that is not just Wakefield games it is as a neutral as well.

In fact to take any bias away from this post - Kyle Wood quite blatantly stripped the ball twice in the Castleford fixture right in front of the referee yet a knock on was given? Two touch judges, one in clear view on both occasions, 2 in goal judges and the referee stood right in the action and they could come to the correct decision?

I came away from Wigan the other week feeling gutted, as i felt the team had played well enough to be in the game, two forward passes that would have led to tries were given against Wakefield, one of which was no where in a million years forward and the other which wasn`t quite as obvious but was still not forward. Now i can accept that forward passes can be missed, but how on earth can a forward passes be given when they are no where near forward i don`t know.

The standard was not good to start with but has got even worse... The consistency 1. Off individual referees and there performance and 2. The officials across the board is non existent!

so what your saying you you'd rather watch boring rugby and get the points than be entertained and take a risk of both, funny how last year we was royally entertain by the Castleford who ripped sides apart playing expansive rugby.

The problem with quite a few Wakey fans is,is that because we had a good run when CC took over, then confounded the experts last season, we should now be automatically matching Leeds.
Unfortunately Leeds have been doing what Leeds do for a long time and we've been doing what we've been doing for equally as long, it takes time to build that winning mentality,it doesn't just happen overnight like some expect.
We had enough half chances in the first half to score possibly 3 tries, one knock on on the second tackle after good broken play, one went down a dead end after Tupou picked up a loose ball and Johnstone's fumble on another loose ball.
On another day these three opportunities may have come to fruition.

I stand by what I said about the tackle Pauli did, but that, and the other dubious calls were
not the reason Wakefield lost the match. we cocked up in defence big time leading to one Leeds try, and generally we weren't quite smart enough.
I take heart that, despite spending the least in SL, we're as good in quality as anything I've seen this season.

The JJB call to me was a stonewall knock on and should have resulted in us getting the penalty after the Leeds player picked up the ball in front but that's not why we lost the game. Some soft defence on our left edge gifted Leeds an attacking position and they capitalised from that (as champion sides do). To concede from the first set after a try was a real turning point in my eyes, similar to the Warrington game just after half time. We need to learn how to close games out after taking 10-8 point leads.

It was hall that towered aboveveberyone and knocked the ball forward. I saw it too. Think everyone did.

Leeds (and Wigan) get their fair share of dodgy calls against them in games but it's doesn't seem to be the injustice it is when it happens to smaller clubs and it's fine.

Amazing how so many Wakefield fans blame the refs when they lose but when any other club mention the refs it's sour grapes.

I don't think there are any set of fans innocent of that.

Though I do agree with Printer, can't we just accept we lost out to the Champions without mentioning the officials? Can this forum go for a month without blaming them?

most of what i said was slightly tongue in cheek, but wakey fans do like to play the victim.
fact is it was cracking game and credit to Wakefield for forcing Leeds to dig deep and find something extra to get the win, it could have gone either way. the big difference was Leeds were able to find a bit extra intensity for a 10 minute burst that strangled wakey just enough to force some errors and got the scores needed.

best side wakefield have had for a number of years, reckon they will spring a shock or two in next few weeks, the important thing is to hold there nerve keep what their doing but learn a few lessons. the wins will come.

Haven't seen that and not saying it might not be a harsh or incorrect call but you get them in games. Your 2 point penalty looks like the Wakey attacker has milked that (fair enough our players win penalties in the same way) and for your 3rd try when Golding misses the bomb a Wakey jumps in the air but makes no attempt to catch and makes some contact with Golding, could question that.

Just pointing out it's not the one way traffic with calls that some portray.

Can this forum go for a month without Wakefield Trinity getting the dross of the refereeing fraternity, Willzay???? We seem to get more than our fair share of the Childs, Kendals and Hicks' of this world

I think his biggest error was the knock on by Leeds picked up by a player in an offside position which would have allowed us to even the score. It was unfortunate that Leeds then went downfield to score increasing the gap to 8 points.
To be fair I thought that it was a one on one steal when Hall scored but I couldn’t say for certain it did not go forward.
The bottom line is that the ref ignored many things on both sides which produced our best performance this season.

Your on the wrong board mate, it's the saints fans you should have predicted the shock win to, most Wakey fans knew different

Just backing up my words of encouragement from last week.

I wish refs would get stronger when it involves professional fouls, only till it got to our 5 yd line did a player get sent to the bin when to could of cost us the game and there at least 5 previous that could of got the same treatment, fair dos too also binning a player for mouthing off.

Its not really a shock, against the general trend maybe but shock seems to indicate there was no reason at all to think we could win.
