Personally, i think Sam Obst is an oustanding player, and would like to see him captain the Trin one day. Sign him up ASAP!!!
Like whats been said, hes been through alot in one season, but yet he still finds the strength and commitment to turn up and play his heart out week in week out. Its not just his rugby where he shows commitment, he gets involved in stuff outside rugby. I.E selling the Adam Watene calenders and the charity cricket game. He seems to be at most of the events to do with Trinity. To me, Sam Obst seems to be commited to Wakefield Trinity and Wakefield itself.

So if you say it then its true, but if anybody else says it just gossip

Agree with you here and not just about this. We need the same rules for everyone on here not just the rules from those who are "connected".

I see ppl getting abuse for discussing rumours by ppl etc and then the same ppl are discussing equal rumours because they have heard things from the club.

Happens with transfers and the beer fridge affair where anyone discussing it was threatened with bans for liable yet it was in public press and same ppl were defending the clubs stance over what the players had been told etc despite it not being in public domain.

My opinion is either let people discuss what they want (within aup) or nobody and I mean nobody can discuss things until it is official. One rule for one and one for another really annoys people.

Don't thint it needs any rules - except your own.

Forums are made for gossip and rumour - it will always be that way. Some will turn out to be true, others not - so it's a case of 'make-your-mind-up-time'.



There are some affairs though that cross over from being rumour to being potentially 'defamatory' and any of the mods are likely to stand in at this point - but possibly more so in my case (of which I am extremely conscious about not abusing the position). There have been things said recently - both personal and collectively - which have over-stepped, but these are still in the small minority of cases and have been well modded!



Another issue here is that some of the rumours can have a very negative effect on the club. It's something that doesn't sit comfortably with me, but I have to live with it - or close down the internet.



Finally - there are those who are privilidged to know things and jump on here to tell the world them - as if they are bigger and cleverer for doing so, when the opposite is true as the info was intended to be kept secret - for this I have zero respect! Sorry!

I agree with everything said about him. We need him on a long contract, and I hope we get him signed up soon. Definitely more important than signing Atkins and Grix, together. If he carries on like he is doing at the moment then he'd be the natural choice for captain after JD.

SO was quality on Friday, both attacking and in defence. Morley targeted him several times.............with no joy whatsoever

Obsty is a genuine crowd pleaser, for his guts, his pace, his energy and trickery. A real top player that sadly, so many alleged experts tend to overlook.

Give him a new deal, the lad deserves one!

Obst has been patchy this season and was poor towards the middle. Its good to see that he has played well last handfull of games but a handfull of games doesn't make a season.

If he can perform like he has been last few games majority of season sign him up however i think he needs to be more consistent throughout SL season.

Here's hoping he doesn't go near Hooker again 2!. He's ok as bac-up though.

I wouldn't be dissapointed if he left as i think he could be replaced and should he stay then again i wont be dissappointed.

That he has performed at all this season tells you something about the quality of the man. I can't believe you can criticise his performances at all this season given what he has been through.

imo the lad has been emmense, not just what he has been through. i have never seen his head go down, only to tackle. the guy would make a great captain . he epitamizes all that is good at wakefield. if anything i think he has been one of our most consistant players of the last 4 years and has had very few injuries. when trojan horse says " don't let him near hooker" totally disagree. sam is a great hooker and also pretty good at 6. probably one of the fittest and fastest guys we have got, especially round the hook. i know he has been offered a new deal and i really hope he stays with us. out of all the team, he is the one i would like to see take jd's place when he leaves.
