| After recent woeful displays I don't think the players should be getting time off. You could say a fair few have already been taking it easy this season.
With a few exceptions this lot need a good old fashioned rollicking.
Kleinhorst and Lynne are taking the mickey with the length of their lay offs for their respective injuries. Surely Lynne could play with an injection, it's only his toe that hurts when he runs ffs.

I'm sorry but how do you know how lynes toe only hurts when he runs? He played 2 or 3 games with it injured so he's probably made it worse. Keinhorst is quality but he's had a problem with his hammy which can be a horrible injury to get back from. People bag Lyne whilst he's playing now he's getting bagged for not playing, poor kid can't win! Get behind the squad not just the team, try and get some feel good factor back at the club, get the north stand rocking again. The fans could play a big part in survival with 5 home games on the trot coming up.

Re lynne, iirc agar stated it hurts when he runs when talking about injuries. We have kirmond playing when clearly not fit and taking pain killing injections. I don't see why lynne couldn't play with an injection, then we wouldn't have to have had mathers on the wing.
As for kleinhorst, I have no idea if he is quality as he has managed less than 40 mins rugby and we have just completed round 15! We will be lucky if we get 5 games out of him which is a luxury in our squad we can ill afford when we have the other first choice who is made of biscuit

That is pure conjecture you have no idea just how much it hurts when he runs. And using Kirmond as an example just makes the point, he's clearly not been fit and has underperformed as a result. To moan at players for not playing when unfit is out of order IMO

Well we will have to agree to disagree. Players play with minor injuries all the time. By what agar said his is a minor injury.
In reply to schunter post re kirmond, the point I was making his he is willing to go through the pain barrier to play with what clearly is more of an issue than a sore toe. I don't dispute it has meant he is not as effective, but shows a level of commitment that imo Lynne is lacking

| Was gonna post this in the NGBC thread, but its been locked now!!
I think there is some value in the fact that it is clear our players are very low in confidence and therefore under performing. Their whole body language is downbeat and this permeates throughout their game, coming out as weak tackles, running poor lines and generally looking like losers before they have even begun.
Webster needs to get them to puff their chests out, gain some arrogance and really go for it. Otherwise we're stuffed!!

Agree. People state some are not putting the effort in but for me it's not as black and white as that. Only rarely have I thought players are actually wilfully not trying. I suppose it's about degrees and many factors compounded lead to poor performances rather than an overt intention to not try hard. That's not to say some players dont need to get their fingers out their 'arris's mind...

| Interesting reading peoples comments the consensus is Agar out = good.
My NRL club the NZWarriors have just gone through this process. Coach Mathew Elliot was Sacked after five rounds of the Comp and his assistant Andrew McFadden took over.
A lot of people were concerned that Mcfadden would be no better than Elliot since Mcfadden has been working under Elliot.
Nothing could have been further from reality. I hope it turns out the same for Wakey where the assistant turns out to be an instant hit and a revelation.
Certainly it is a mistake to assume the assistant is the same man as the head coach , even if they have been working to the head coaches plan for years.
I agree that emphasis needs to be loaded on defensive coaching first.

Hopefully. I'm not so much worried that he doesn't know what he's doing as much as the players have been hearing his voice for the last however long and their performances have not indicated they would run through walls for the regime he was part of. Although that said his inexperience means we have no idea what to expect

That's a long time indeed.
It sounds like ( to use a cliche ) Agar had lost the dressing room like Elliot did here in NZ. It happens. Total lack of faith in the head coach.
An advantage of the number two man from the inside is that they have been watching their bosses relationship with the players and more importantly seeing their weakness's free of the bias so many Coaches carry for certain players etc.
Assistant coaches get more of an overview, free of the same polarizing pressure of the head coaching role.
I quite like the idea of an assistant having some time as caretaker, you get to find out quickly who they rate in the squad...who wasn't pulling their weight at training, who the assistant thinks was a contributor to the ill culture in the team.
Hopefully Webster starts by changing the way Wakefield defend.
Here in NZ the focus went on picking players who can get off the line fast and use defense as an attacking weapon.
It really catches the opposition out when they expect to face a weak defence and end up on the back foot when they have the ball.
I hope he comes down hard on people that are giving away penalties , putting pressure on their team mates, not adhering to the plan.
So many coaches dig holes for themselves by miss placed Loyalties. Set a standard and make everyone in the team accountable.
Fans won't turn on the new guy for dropping players if their is a clear plan. Three Stars were dropped in the first three weeks here. Ok so some fans got a bit sad on one of them , but that players rampaging now. Personally I enjoyed seeing the accountability put on the players and especially that none of the 'most talented' were immune to being used to set an example to the rest from reserve grade ( one bloke never made it back ).
Looking forward to reading peoples thoughts three games from now , when Webster has started showing his hand.

| On the flip-side of comparing with Elliott leaving NZ Warriors, look at Danny Orr stepping up to head coach when Milward was sacked at Tigers. I think he won 4 out of 5 games allbeit it was only as caretaker coach and he did state he wasn't ready to step-up completely.

| The step up in itself is no new thing
All the Bulls coaches through their successful period were promoted from within and each had their own spin on things
Wane stepped up at Wigan and hasn't done so bad.
Anderson did the same at Huddersfield
It's the quality of coach and person that counts, not how they got the job.
Let's see what Webster can do. This may be the start of an exciting era for both Wakefield and Webster.

Depends whether our newly issued CCJ is a one off dispute or the sign of things to come again. It is getting tiresome either way.
