luckly my direct debit went through ok but if i'd have had that kind of response from the club i'd have been saying well thats £2 staying in my pocket! harsh maybe but true.

I got the same. When I called my bank I was told they could see the dd but they needed club1873 acct no and sort code so had to ring club back upto get info then get back in touch with the bank to set it up. Don't think its right that you don't get entered in to the draw if you can't pay due to no fault of your own. You should be entered in to the draw but not allowed to collect the prize until proof that the dd is set up.

Some people on here blaming the club re the banks but thats clearly not the case these are not direct debits but standing order mandates two transaction types that are fundamentaly different.

The reason my bank came back to me was
1. Information who to make standing order had not been provided by club.
2. I had asked for quarterly payments, bank had not been given this information.

Good point. I know this is probably not what the club want to hear but you can cancel a S/O much easier than a direct debit. So even if you are not committed or can't afford it long term you only need to be in it long enough to satisfy the RFL. I know that's a very mercenary comment and against the spirit of it all but it's true.

And very inkeeping with the mercenary approach of this franchise system.

Just got the paperwork through and I'm member 1609.

Thinking about the lottery. Choosing 4 numbers from 31 gives 31465 possible combinations. If only 1873 tickets are sold, there'll be an awful lot of roll-overs. A 1 in 16 chance of it being won each week? I would have thought they would have wanted it to be won most weeks. Feel free to correct my calculations if I've got it wrong.

However does this not mean that the prize will double each time it is not claimed, which ultimately will increase interest and hopefully draw new members in.

I thought I read somewhere that there was a limit to the number of roll-overs. I can't find it now so maybe I imagined it.
Going up by £500 a week could well generate more interest when it gets to 5, 8 or 10 grand, which I guess it should.

I had mine sent back today because there was no date entered for the first payment but my bank included a return envelope with a photocopy of my original form so all i have to do is add a date and send the form back.

Same here. Sent back by HSBC for the same reasons "No date for first payment". I will resolve this with the bank but it's not great PR by the club that on the infamous "greatest announcement ever" evening they said fill out this form and we will do the rest. Now they are saying you sort it out with the bank.

Yep I had an issue with the start date as well. Got a letter from the Halifax and had to get the banks details from the club to be able to sort it out.

Was informed at Cedar court that it would roll over to £3,000. Then they would keep drawing until there was a winner.

I'll take 3k anytime
