| for me it was a game against Hull at home in about 1989...
Brian Smiths Hull were unbeaten and playing excellent RL... Dave Topliss' team took them apart in the first half and solidified in the second... Smith himself said it was one of the best performances he had ever seen from an opposing team...
also loved the cup semi in 79...
and the video of the wigan 1963 cup win is quite special...

| For team performance for me it's Bradford away in 2006, the 20-12 game, im sure you all remember it. Nearly all second half we were resorting to a desperate last line of defense. The 18 nil game at Cas came pretty close, as did the first game at Wigan last season, considering all our injuries. The Leeds away win on Easter Monday 2005 is worth a mention, I remember the bookies had Leeds at 1/100 on to win that game!

Yes that was one hell of a win when we were on the edge of the abyss as was the Bradford game that set up the Cas decider.

| It's all down to how it makes you feel! Have we played better footy? Yes! Have we faced greater adversity? Yes! Did I feel on top of the world coming out of the ground, reliving (loudly) every aspect of the game, surrounded my miserable loiners? Oh yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's up there!!!!!!

| Depends what we are saying.
Best performance in terms of skills?....no way is the Leeds game the best. It was more a grind out win, with errors on both sides making a difference with some good skills along the way.
Best for atmosphere or importance?......I can understand if you haven't watched Wakefield for long.... and it is obviously more contentious just because it's a personal thing.... but I'd have to pick any of:
St.s semi in 1979,
Wally's first game against Hull,
Whitehaven away when we won the 1st Div title (you'll know if you were there)
Henry Paul's game against Wigan away,
First game (think it was Warrington) when Mark Graham and Steve Ella played...that would figure high on skills too.
Hull in the play-offs
Beating St.s at Barnsley, or Bradford, Cas and Cas again when Cas went down
saying all that......it's always great to beat Leeds!

| The Henry Paul Wigan game has got to be up there.
Away at Central Park against the team that had dominated the sport for the previous however long.
Am i right in thinking they hadnt been beaten at home for a few years as well?

| the one for me was when we came from 18 points behind after 60 minutes against leeds and won the game by 2 points. final score was 22 - 20. this was in the days of when players like scholdfield and hanley was playing for leeds. when i left the ground i felt like i was walking on air.

| In terms of enjoyment, the Bradford away game was the best as i went fully expecting Wakey to be relegated that night for us to stay down for a while due to all the comments about the ground.
Re the wire game it was a good win, but they did have one eye on the cup final and a very dodgy winger. Beating Leeds was a far better achievement for me, the game was a higher standard and i was particularly impressed with the 10-15 minutes in the second half when Leeds started really going for it (the shot on tronc etc).....the pack really stood up to it....for me it was the best performance i can remember.

| My memories dont stretch as far back as some, however the games that stand out for me as far as complete performances go (in chronological order) are....
Hull FC, away, play off match, 2004
Cas 'home', millenium stadium, 2008
Leeds, home, 2010
Out of those 3, it has to be the leeds game. The euphoria has now elapsed and we have to look and say that we defended well, we attacked well, we turned pressure into points, we were disciplined and what impressed me most was in the second half when leeds were turning the screw we went into build mode, we started knocking the sets out, 5 drives and a kick to establish field position and get outselves back into the game, whereas in the past we would have capitulated and let leeds, or any side with such momentum, roll over us and beat us. Up untill last season (leeds home) we were doing that but, dare i say it, we seem to have turned the corner - our performance was that of an established and smart team.

and the thing I like most about this thread? The fact that I honestly believe we'll be talking about this again this season. The fact that we are now much better at doing the underlined bit above means we are likely to closing out more of these games we used to lose.

| For pure elation it has to be ’79 semi for me, but, we only just held on that day.
As a performance, Sundays win was very satisfying, especially against a very good side, who came into the match with such en enviable record to uphold.
Even though I, along with most fans, were still a bit twitchy after Donald scored his second (How did he manage to score?) in reality, we looked in total control.

| Agree with the games that Pop Tart has mentioned and there will be others in the dark recesses of my mind. But what about the 'promotion' game at Huddersfield against Featherstone, the knock on, Franny's try (dynasaur), Garen Casey's conversion. My nerves were shot and I don't think I've recovered yet.

| Loved Saints at Oakwell - on Sky, and Marchie one on one with Newlove ripped it out to score in the corner - the look on Newlove's face!
Also a big fan of the 14-6 (I think) win at Wigan - Henry Paul's first game, and some big ex rugby union convert playing for Wigan (who got his kicked as a welcome to the game of Kings). Made even sweeter by the supporters coach breaking down in Wigan - even more time to celebrate!

| mines got to be the 1st half last against Leeds last week, totally dominated a 3 times super league champion side, and the 2nd half at Thrum hall in the late 80's, we was 20-0 down or something like that and Billy Conway come on in second half and totally blew Halifax away and won 22-20
also a mention of the Michael Jackson try against Leeds, that was a great comeback

That was exceptional. Lots of other great games mentioned as well.

| It wasn't the fact that we beat Leeds on Sunday, it as the manner of it that did it for me. We took the game to them, defended well and were always in control. It's not often all 17 players perform to that standard. We've beat many big teams over the years, but Sunday was just so convincing.

| Beating Leeds 16 – 0 at Headingley was one of the most professional performances I’ve seen from a Wakefield team.
The play off final at the McAlpine Stadium against Featherstone, still takes some beating for me.
The relegation matches against Salford and Cas were great occasions, but far too nerve racking to enjoy.

| The thing for me was how professional Sunday's performance was. We made so few mistakes. As John said, the improvement from Harlequins and Catalans to get to that was awesome. Just hope we can keep it up.
Also just had the chance to see Moores "knock on" leading to Leeds' first try on Boots and All the Tries. There was definitely a Leeds hand in there and the ball went back towards our line. Not complaining though, what a great day, and 2 weeks to enjoy it!

| Ok, like I said before;
Cas at Millenium - particularly for Moore's try where, despite being the big prop he is, he ran the length of the field with the attacking play - Wigan at home later that season as well with Moore's length of the field try
Cas, home and away in the relegation season. Bulls at home first game of season - Betham was awesome in defense and Elimas tackle on Bai with a kick from the scrum for White to score
Wire away that season as well - Briers missing the winning conv in the last min
Cas away last year - 30 mins of sheer 0-0 tension, then a tap on their ten meant Judas (Scully) popped up a beautiful pass for Martin to dive over (the try made all the more enjoyable because before the tap I turned to my dad and told him the play) - after that we completely dominated
Leeds away - "death (Hudds home) and resurrestion of Jesus" weekend and the game when, if I remember rightly, Watene scored the winning try
Bulls away, first game of season when 10k Bulls fans walked out with 10 mins to go and then Wigan at home second game of season with Rooney's immense try
Hull play off game
Bulls at home - coming from 10/12 nil down in the first ten mins to win with the D March try
Saints at Oakwell
Fev in Div 1 final
Sheffield at Elland Rd to win the last Yorkshire Cup - also Fev away in Semis
Oldham away the season after stands out for me - Henry Paul brought us from well behind in a woeful performance to draw 20-20
Fev home last game of season in about '92/'93 when we got them relegated. I was only a sprog around then, so Wire at home was the first evening Sky match I had been to and we beat them 12-10
Salford away in CC season before last is a fave, but that was more for the entertainment value of the drunk and topless Salfordian goofing around on the roof of WMC next door

Without being pedantic was it not 17-0 or am I thinking of a different game? Them do or die relegation games and there are plenty of them take some beating for memories. But are we getting away from the title of thread. Sunday's Wakefield side would have beaten all them Wakefield teams or would they?

1 of my most fave games ever , the lady who use to do the tannoy (STEWARTS TO EXITS ) was told that under no circumstance was she to give out the latest scores if featherstone were losing , so she put radio leeds over the tannoy .... "And as it stands remarkably featherstone are at this moment relegated"
some of the fev army started to get out of hand but not as much as the fella who ran on the pitch that day the coppers chased him over the pitch and tackled him 10 meters short.
We saved Bradford , KR and another club whom i forget ....

The Henry Paul game at wigan i missed due to being skint and it was the 1st game i missed in about 3.5 years.
The away game at Cas (Do not fear it's only John Kear) the pressure on that game was immense, to win and win so well whilst having 2 men sent off was just unbelievable, any one of those games at the back end of the season could go down as greats due to the ammount of pressure we where under but the Cas away sticks out for the fact we nilled them on their own patch. That must really stick in there throats still now.
